Erika Soteri – The American Dream (Spotify)

“Erika Soteri through a jazzy cozy sound atmosphere with her new single -The American Dream- and her hookiest vocal performance qualities, offer as a soulful chill song full of sweet harmonies. ”

-Nagamag.com

The song is reminiscent to Hollywood's golden age. From the sound of the instrumentation to the texture of the vocals. From the style in which it was recorded in the studio, to the aesthetic of the cover art. The lyrics of the song shed a light on the corruption of the music industry and the sacrifices one must make in order to attain 'The American Dream'. It carries a melancholic tone, as it plays with the innocence of a child's dream versus the dark reality of trying to work towards achieving that dream. The track has a raw, authentic feel, in its lyrics, instrumentation and production that will speak to people's souls.

Erika Soteri is a powerhouse performer and a jazzy, soulful singer-songwriter who was born in London, England and raised on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The up-and-coming artist recently gained exposure following her success on the talent show The Voice of Greece. All 4 judges instantly turned around and fought to have Erika join their team. After her decision to join Eurovision’s sweetheart, Helena Paparizou’s team, Erika made it through the semi-finals of the show.

Born into a family of musicians, Erika began dancing, acting, singing and playing the piano at the age of 3 and began writing music by the age of 10. Her musical influences consist of Jazz, Funk, Neo-Soul, Latin and RnB and include artists such as Sade, Amy Winehouse and band Hiatus Kaiyote. Erika’s rich tone and retro, sultry, silky vocals, as well as her lyrics make her seem wise beyond her years. Her style is classically elegant and refreshing; an artist that will in no-doubt be cutting through mainstream and introducing the industry to a sound that is timeless yet still thoroughly original.

KAY JAM feat. NALU | Hollow (Video)

“KAY JAM with NALU in their new song Hollow, invite us into an emotional diving, deep and entrancing harmonic journey through a fathomless choreography visual. ”

-Nagamag.com

-English-

« A song about the emptiness felt when two people are apart. An invisible connection remains and it makes it hard for them to move on ».

(Kay Jam)

By composing this track, Kay Jam (Julien Cambarau) melts his usually more rock universe with the sensitivity and the comforting voice of Nalu (Noa Zalts). This artistic collaboration gives birth to a touching folk ballad, full of softness and skilfully distilled tension. The duo delicately takes us along to tell us a story about a separation between two people who are trying to follow their own path, while missing each other.

Mathien – So (If I Can’t Have Your Love) (Spotify)

“Mathien and Sam Hudgens with their new single -So (If I Can't Have Your Love)- under WURLITZER CROWLEY imprint invite us into a lush groove of funky beats and harmonies, with vocals performance been soulful and elegant, hitting in the right places both in music layering and heart. While it gives you a laid back listening experience, not misses parts that you will feel the energy inside you to move and groove. ”

-Nagamag.com

Sam had made this beat in 2017 and played it for me during a session in Evanston. He was staying with his mom for a week and didn't have anything but a guitar and his laptop when he made it, so the entire beat was dozens of layers of nylon strings over a drum machine loop. Even in its early sketches it was so good, I told him I wanted it but it seemed like he was writing to it. Fast forward to this September he stopped by my studio to record some ideas, and he ended up playing the beat for me again, it was exactly the same, "I've been stuck on this beat for years now" he said.

After he left I wrote "If I can't have your love" to it and sent him a demo of it that night, and he called me freaking out (happy). The next day he came back at 6:30 am to help finish it. we decided Sam would sing the first verse and I would do the second, but we're both on all 3 of the hooks. Then he played his Sax on it. I wrote a little instrumental bridge section to break up the loop a little, and added some additional synth and guitar/bass... I figured I'd send it over to Brooklyn so Devon Yesberger (Cory Wong, Lohaith, Caleb Hawley,Grace Kelly) could play piano on it. It came back and that piano part you hear that opens the track was actually at the end of what he sent but it was so striking I threw it on the front. Took 3 years but the track is finished.

Jaap Mol – Drifting (Spotify)

“Lightly touching the unknown, fingers glide over the piano keys. Felt mild anxiety mixed with curiosity. Angelic voices come in time, soothing the soul disturbing. And you step on the water surface and begin to drift. Drifting is a Mesmerizing new single by Jaap Mol under Woody Forest Records.”

“Слегка притрагиваясь к неизвестному, пальцы скользят по клавишам пианино. Чувствуется легкая тревога вперемешку с любопытством. И ангельские голоса приходят вовремя, успокаивая тревожную душу. И вы ложитесь на водную гладь и начинаете дрейфовать.”

Autumn just entered here in Amsterdam. We have to stay inside. It's raining. The streets are wet and empty. Here's a track to curl up on the couch and drift away into an endless and peaceful state of mind.

Christian Cohle – Drown Me Slow (Spotify)

“Christian Cohle with his new single -Drown Me Slow- under N-6 Records impress us with his exuberant vocals with a partly tender roughness in some tension chorus, pushed above a minimal music layering which is the right one for the wide depth of this vocal atmosphere. Mesmerizing!”

-Nagamag.com

Drown Me Slow, is Cohle's final single release of 2020 after releasing a brace of debut singles, that have made waves on the music blogs. Early next year will come Cohle's debut album Holy Trouble, where Cohle will continue to cement himself as one of the most exciting electronic artists to land into music this year.

Full of ear candy and electro heartbeat like arpeggios, Drown Me Slow is cinematic and rich in its soundscapes, all layering and moving under Cohle's immensely powerful vocal, beautifully melodic and intricate, the song eventually drowns and trails out into the abyss into a gorgeous Brian Eno like soundscape.

One central idea to Drown Me Slow, is the unwillingness to let go of something, even after it has long left you. You become fixed on it and stare at it often as one can do with a distant star. The longing for it becomes more special than the reality of it itself, because perhaps it’s not even there anymore.
