Psychill Music ⁞ New Releases⁞ Artist Interviews⁞ Music News

Psychill is a type of electronic music which has influence from goa and psychedelic trance including a lot of related names as genres, such as: psybient, goachill, psychedelic chillout, psydub, psybass etc.
Almost if not 100% of tracks are composed with digital sounds via synthesizers and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Nevertheless many tracks are accompanied with vocals and native ethnic Instruments like flute, duduk, tablas etc. Basic characteristic of Psychill, like as Psychedelic, is the rhythmic and aggressive drum set of kick, snare and hi hats that surround almost the whole track in addition with clean basslines and apregietors affected by cutoff and resonance but while Psychedelic trance has a higher tempo level, Psychill has its beating meter around 110-120bpm for a steadier rhythm like Chillout.

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Maiia:
Psychedelic chillout

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Maiia:
I'm in love with the music from early ages - when i was twelve, i studied to play a bass guitar and became a part of heavy metal band. My first steps in music production were based just on self-education - all that i could learn reading the tutorials, forums and watching the videos. Being an adult i went to study the music theory in one of the rock-schools in Moscow, and the borders of the musical Universe expanded for me. Since that time i'm experimenting with different time signatures and tonality in my music. Music is the main landmark of my life, so in 2014 i founded the psychedelic chillout label Mystic Sound Records which became the base for develoment of many talented music producers all over the world. I continue my personal musical career as well, producing music for my two project - downtempo and Goa trance. I've just released the new album of my chillout project "Maiia - Love Is The Answer".

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Maiia:
My musical taste was evolving with time and switched to electronic music in 2005 when i visited Goa for the first time. I was enchanted by the mystery of psychedelic music. The same year i started to play chillout music as a DJ and one year after I tried to produce my own music. I was so excited by this process that I was dedicating all my free time to read the music making tutorials, set up my first project studio and released the first EP "Forest Magic" in 2008.

Nagamag:
Music has no borders and many of us we may listen to more genres that we are mainly involved. So share with Nagamag which track comes first in your mind from music but is NOT similar to your genre?

Maiia:
A Perfect Circle Judith

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Maiia:
Mungusid Crying Spy

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Suduaya:
Downtempo/Progressive/Melodic/Psychedelic

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Suduaya:
The project "Suduaya" was born in 2006, after a trip in Sri Lanka, but it's not before 2010 that i decided to work on it seriously. Before that i was focused on my guitar skills, touring with a band in France from 2007 to 2010 (electro/hiphop), and during high school times i had a band and we played a fusion of Metal, Dub and psychedelic. I started to play the guitar at the age of 13, and violin at the age of 5. When i joined Altar Records in 2011, it started to become more important, and i slowly got more exposure on the scene. I quickly played in different festivals, mostly easter/central europe, and couple of years later reached other continents. Mexico, Australia, Canada, Russia, up to now there might be between 30/40 countries i'v been performing.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Suduaya:
Discovering "Dark Side of The Moon" at the age of 13 on a radio station. The radio host said "i'm gonna play this album without any commercials, sit back and relax". That changed my life! I had many other connections to music before and after that, but this is the highlight.

Nagamag:
Music has no borders and many of us we may listen to more genres that we are mainly involved. So share with Nagamag which track comes first in your mind from music but is NOT similar to your genre?

Suduaya:
Metallica "The Call Of Ktulu"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Suduaya:

Mystic Sound Records – Maiia – Love Is The Answer
(Bandcamp)

Enjoy a fascinating ride on the swing of love presented by swiping and melodic rhythms. The sound is rich: with the diversity of instruments and the uplifting kick. A flute and a funky guitar, shaky arabesques, romantic synths – Maiia is striking again with the experiments. It gets rough and straightforward at some point, but that’s why we love swinging!
