Drööman is the second single from artist Vera Vinter and violinist Hanna Ekström's upcoming full-length album. A song that breathes Nordic folk tone with lyrics in extinct dialect in Kalixmål.

The idea for the song comes from an audio recording that the artists stumbled upon doing research about traditional folk music meeting “Vevgrammofonstämman” in Norn, Dalarna. On the recording you can hear an old man speaking about lost dreams and chances he never took. The song is an homage to sawmills, farming communities, forestry and mining places around the world.

The gentle mixture of field recordings, warm voice, acoustic guitar, samples and fate-saturated Mono / Poly, symbolizes a call to listen inwards.The lyrics in extinct dialect Kalixmål gives the words a secret character that makes the music free to experience in one's own inner rhythm.

In Madness is a raw and emotional ballad that will leave you feeling everything all at once. With beautiful piano cocooned in cinematic storytelling and a sentimental vocal, Constance tells your whole life story in a song.

‘I wrote “In Madness” with Ronny Janssen while he was down visiting Los Angeles. It was our first time meeting and writing together but it really felt like one of those fated moments where all the pieces just came together and the song wrote itself.

When we wrote this song back in March, I was completely consumed and heartbroken with the invasion and war in Ukraine. It was very surreal watching ordinary civilians train how to fight and defend themselves - young and old, some teachers, some lawyers, just regular men and women who had never held a gun in their life and suddenly being forced into the position they’re in now - It is truly unfathomable. There is no silver-lining on war and loss of life but the bravery and strength that the Ukrainian people have shown is an inspiration for the world.

“In love and in madness, in strength and in sadness” to me is the oxymoron that is the human experience and the strength of the human will to love. Even in times of darkness there is always light on the horizon and it is important for us to not lose sight of it.’

Indie singer-songwriter Ram Dass releases his new single “Niagara” on July 8th. This song expresses the overwhelming grief and mourning that he faced after the loss of his newborn son. After his son passed due to a rare genetic condition, Ram Dass allowed his emotions a place to escape and flow through him with the chilling lyrics accompanied by icy strings and flowing guitars. From the first breath of music, the gentle yet powerful exhale sets the tone for the engulfing grief and sadness shared throughout “Niagara.” In the lyrics, “Won’t you take all my troubles to the sea,” you can feel him surrendering while allowing a space to be acknowledged and secure. A father’s love in the midst of loss is felt throughout the song.

After hearing there were complications with his wife's pregnancy while at Niagara Falls it seems fitting to direct the swirling turmoil and grief that was slipping around him towards the intense churning waters of the falls. Lyrically, Ram Dass allows his anger and grief to be consumed by the waters below and through the song’s cry for help, he creates a sense of relief. ”I tried to hold my family together, stay happy, and try to find my happiness in life, but I didn’t have a lot of space to feel upset or angry at his loss until now.”

As a songwriter, Maddie Carpenter has the innate ability to dive into headspaces and explore situations she’s never been in, and “You” is a stellar example of her talents. The track, out July 8, is a devastating bedroom-pop song which seeks to unravel the complicated emotions which rise to the surface when a longstanding romantic relationship comes to an end. “As much as I try to hold my younger self with love, as her experiences were much different than mine are now, I cringe at some of the naivety of my writing. ‘You,’ is different though,” Carpenter explains. “It has always stuck out as true through the years. I love singing it, performing it, and listening to it grow and change in small ways over time.” Written in her childhood bedroom at the age of 17, the track is undeniably mature in the way that Carpenter is able to draw out a sense of poignant longing not just with her melodious coo but most brilliantly, with her words. Tinged with melancholy, Carpenter sings, “wash these trembling hands and turn your gray skies blue. I don’t know anymore what I should and should not do. You say, ‘take all that I have and I will wrap you in my arms.’ I was fooled by the greatness of everything you are. Thought it was you.”

There is something undeniably effortless about “You” as Carpenter taps into her artistry and captures a depth of emotion which isn’t easy to articulate. “At the point in my life that I wrote ‘You’ several of my closest friend’s parents were going through divorces or separations. This song was kind of my way of understanding the unraveling of a long term relationship, or what I imagined it felt like,” she says. Despite never having experienced a meaningful romantic relationship at the time, Carpenter skillfully explores what it’s like to reflect on love lost and make room for an uncertain future without the comforts of a former partner. “As much as it is a sad song, I find it hopeful as it makes space for a new start and finding what you truly want for yourself or from a potential partner.”

With clever lyricism and instrumentation new to country group Lake & Lyndale, their newest single “Long Way Home” is a fitting representation of the band’s lighthearted spirit and artistic prowess. Out now, this folksy, vibrant song embraces the idea of putting the journey over the destination. The song, the group explains, “was a reflection on the roundabout way it sometimes takes to get from point A to point B.” Adding, “for us personally it was an artist’s lament.” In a positive twist, the group demonstrates the importance of persistence and the beauty of keeping a dream alive. Anou - the musical project of Lebanese-American musician & singer- songwriter Anwar Bizri - has announced the release of his debut single “Strange Goodbyes” on July 7th under Tiny House Music. With “Strange Goodbyes”, Bizri inaugurates his musical alter-ego Anou, and provides the first taste of his forthcoming debut album, Radius, the culmination of years of musical reflection and discovery.
