Funky feels from Antwerp’s Maxi Meraki with his first release ‘Way Too Long’ on Dutch House label artwrk. Targeting the Balearic hot spots he’s become accustomed to with deep, focused house composing suave vocals and pianos striding about the place with a splash of salsa to them. While there’s plenty of groove as standard from the Roger Sanchez/Mark Knight-supported spinner - springy bass, a warm blast of synths on a breakdown of calming motivation - Meraki builds an aura and gives the track time and space to explore itself, as per the knowledge-of-self lyrics.

Antwerp resident Maxi Meraki grew up with music and started to play records at high end clubs in Belgium and Amsterdam. A first memorable highlight was noted during the summer of 2018 with a 4 hour set at the Pacha Destino in Ibiza.

Forward to the middle of 2019, the summer season residencies at the W hotel in Barcelona and Izakaya Ibiza set the tone for a bright summer. A sunny season filled with extra gigs: Soho House (Barcelona), Bagatelle (Ibiza), Plage Casanis (Marbella) and the absolute highlight playing on Ibiza’s most popular boat party “Pirata’s Ibiza”, warming up for Circoloco’s DC10 resident DJ Nathan Barato.

Sam Blacky is back with her new single "Paradise," an appropriately titled house gem that evokes images of places like the sun-soaked Ibiza and Mykonos. The track features ethereal vocals by Florida-based singer/songwriter Madeline Austin; the two connected via social media and hit it off when Madeline sent demos for what is now "Paradise." Sam works in a deep, groovy bassline with gently undulating melodies, making for a sultry dancefloor track that will heat up the night wherever you may be. "Paradise" is the third single to come out on Blacky's own Stabby Records, which launched in February this year.

"'Paradise' is a more melodic track that I feel people can enjoy in different environments; listen to it while driving, use as a morning soundtrack after waking up, or dance to it in a club. I wanted to make it more universal than just a club banger. Once again, I pulled inspiration from all the beautiful places I have been to, and 'Paradise' feels like summer in Ibiza or Mykonos. It's the feeling of butterflies in your stomach, floating through the ocean with the wind on your face and a big carefree smile coming from within. Featured on 'Paradise' is singer/songwriter Madeline Austin. Samantha Black is a multitalented DJ/producer, model, and influencer professionally known as Sam Blacky. Originally from San Diego, Sam spent several years in Australia, where she first fell in love with producing music and performing live. Since moving back to Los Angeles, music and performing have taken a front seat in her life. In addition to her hectic modeling schedule, Sam has performed live across the world from 2017 to 2021, from Mexico to Ibiza to Bali, racking up over 120 gigs a year at some of the premier electronic festivals and clubs on the planet. Jickow is back with a brand-new release on the DHB imprint, a consistent EP called ‘The Nemesis Of Love’ with featuring remixes from renowned producers like the German talent Mark De Pulse with over 400 releases spanning his career and Da Fresh hailing from France with accompanying iconic releases like ‘Goosebumps’ and ‘Aquila’. With an unstoppable work ethic backed by a string of impressive releases, Jickow is definitely cementing his place in the industry especially with this new release which would prove a shame to miss out on.

Jickow’s take on ‘The Nemesis Of Love kicks off with a clean, pulsing kick drum combined with sharp and punchy snares and hi hats that fill the upper end of the spectrum to establish that iconic groove. This is shorty followed by a series of dark and entrancing sound FX that wrap around from the edges of the speaker and engulfs the soundscape to give it an ominous and mysterious vibe we can all get behind. Between the excitement of the main body of the song, the implementation of the breakdowns switch up the atmosphere and the spine-tingling vocals commence, perfectly bringing every aspect of the song together. Da Fresh’s remix remains consistent with the original all while adding his unique flare to it by implementing off beat clicks combined with a lower cutting bassline to give it zestier feel, while Marc De Pulse offers a more electrifying and grounded vibe with melodies paying homage to that iconic ‘80s synth-wave era.

With a reputation proceeding him for the production of top-quality produced music, Jickow has really stepped up his game with this one. With plenty more exciting releases on the way, Jickow is rising as one of the most talented producers in the ever-growing pool of rising artists in the Dance music industry and is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

PuzzleProjectsMusic returns with another hot debut from its diverse roster of talent. Based in Bogota, Colombia via Brazil, where he was born and raised, Katorzi was originally a bass player in an indie band, over the years he has broadened his scope, moving to Bogota in 2018 where he began to make connections with the city’s Latin and electronic music scenes. A devout record collector, Katorzi’s heart beats to the rhythm of funk and he is constantly exploring different avenues with his music. On the Skidum EP, we get a taste of his love for Brazilian music, merging vintage flavours and Afro-Brazilian percussion with modern production techniques.

‘Skidum’ (PPM0028) splices South American vibes with nu-disco composition to produce an infectious dance floor bopper. The bassline is utterly irresistible, with an oh-so-familiar feeling permeating throughout and hints of the cuica drum adding local character. Not forgetting the vocal hook, which gives this track even more Latin appeal.

Cheri was born and raised in the musical capital of Memphis, Tennessee, and began singing Gospel with her family Choir at the age of eight. Throughout her youth, she won numerous Talent contests and was honored with the title Memphis' Teen of the Year. Cheri's musical ambitions drove her to the New York club scene where as an Avante Garde solo artist she performed regularly at the historic CBGB’s, the Tribeca Grand Club, amongst many others.
