Innocenzo Genna – The Girl With the Pearl Earrings (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Well that's not the usual Neoclassical piece. "The Girl With the Pearl Earrings" took years to get its final form and it worthed the effort! Inspiring piano melodies with melancholic taste that can prove the great power of affection existing in such work. "Innocenzo Genna" surely knows how to attract our attention.”

Artist shared few words behind this inspiration with Nagamag:

"To tell the truth, this composition is not about the painting of Johannes Vermeer, only later I realized that the title could create some confusion. However, it was too late, all the listeners believed that it was my personal celebration to the famous portrait and I accepted. To complete the story, the inspiration for this music emerged in the last days of July of 2011, while coming back from Patinoire, a place in Brussels where expats, most of them Italians, are used to meet for aperitivo, chatting and dancing. Clearly, I met a girl wearing pearl earring, a person who would have changed my life for a while. The leit motiv of the composition emerged during the night, however it took some months to get up to the complete version. A good friend of mine told me that this is a tormenting, heartbreaking music reflecting the consequences of meeting the girl ..." Innocenzo Genna

“work joining a beautiful melodious piano pattern. -Small Song of Hope- is a real anthem from soulful hands. Lyrical prayer about light and rescue of the soul. For a moment you want to accomplish something great and bright, wake up the frozen volcanoes in the chest and fade up!”

“Прекрасное вступление с красивым мелодичным рисунком пиано. -Small Song of Hope- это настоящий гимн от любой душевной хвори, лирическая молитва о свете и спасении души. В мгновение хочется свершить нечто великое и светлое, разбудить застывшие вулканы в груди и воспарить ввысь!”

Emerging from the pandemic lockdown period, this solo piano piece was recorded on a felted Kawai upright piano at my home in Newcastle Upon Tyne UK. The composition was inspired by the idea that often in life it is the small, seemingly unimportant things that can give the most satisfaction.

Artist shared few words with Nagamag behind this inspiration:

"This piece was recorded on a remote beach in the north east of the UK. It is a live performance on a piano that was fully restored and rebuilt by myself. The piece is entirely improvised around a family that were on the beach together whilst I was recording, I found myself inspired by their happiness and tactility in a world that is currently so sad and disconnected. https://vimeo.com/560280474 "

Jonathan Fitas – Inside (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“”Inside” offers the silent power of Downtempo, pure and untouched, directly in your place. Rich electronic textures fill the air with mesmerizing vibrations and can simply leave us speechless. Highly recommended piece for every listener.”

-Nagamag.com

Known for his multimedia works that make use of space and audiovisual immersion, Jonathan Fitas’ music is a subtle mix between classical music, electronic textures and sound design. Fitas has built the sonic signature for brands such as Hugo Boss, Asics and Volkswagen thanks to an extraordinary ability to create very cinematic melodies and ambiences. This ability was also employed to conceptualize an acoustic immersive experience for two 2019 multimedia exhibitions held at “Atelier des Lumières” art centre in Paris.

The unfolding of Jonathan Fitas’ first EP “Beyond The Loop”, released on naïve today (June 18th 2021), resembles the soundtrack of an epic film, at times tinged with nostalgia, and testifies to the autobiographical dimension of the composer’s work. By opening classical music to new sonorities, Fitas’ embodies the renewal of a stammering music scene.

In Love & WAR – Lament For What We’ve Lost (Spotify)

“You have repeatedly heard the expression; the music treats the body and soul. -Lament for What We've Lost- is among those songs, that can make the people happy. If you are in a state of depression or stuck in life problems, such music makes the world brighter. With this charm and bliss you can finally be yourself.”

“Вы неоднократно слышали выражение - музыка лечит душу и тело. -Lament For What We've Lost- в их числе и делает нас, людей самыми счастливыми. Находитесь вы в состояние депрессии или погрязли в жизненных проблемах, подобная музыка делает мир ярче. И какое же очарование и блаженство, когда расправив крылья ты можешь быть самим собой.”

-Nagamag.com

This original instrumental piece is an elegy to mourn all of the people, places, events, and sheer time that we have all lost as a result of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic in 2020. It was meant to be sad and haunting, but still colored by a ray of hope for the return of better, safer times. "Lament For What We've Lost" was initially commissioned by Tosca Rivola for her incredibly beautiful and moving short film about 2020, "2020ism."

Koi Anunta is the founding and sole permanent member of In Love & WAR (#ILAW). She is a Yale graduate and medical doctor who gave up medicine to pursue her love of music full-time in Los Angeles.

Koi was classically trained in piano since the age of 4 and violin since the age of 8, and has perfect pitch. Despite her classical roots, she is heavily influenced by iconic bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Garbage, Portishead, Massive Attack, and Tori Amos.

"Lament For What We've Lost" is the newest, all-instrumental release for ILAW (Nov 18, 2020). Koi wrote, played, and produced all the piano and violin on this track. It is a haunting elegy for what we have all suffered and lost in the past year, but with an uplifting ray of hope running throughout for better times to come. The accompanying YouTube music video here (https://youtu.be/u-4Q7-cyyqg) showcases placards of many major 2020 events, including #BLM.

Although Koi has since contributed strings or keys to countless other artists’ recordings as a professional musician, and always continued to write songs for her own personal benefit, she never felt completely comfortable showing anyone her original work or singing solo in public until 2018, when she met a Capitol Records producer in Los Angeles who insisted on hearing one of her private song demos. His unwavering belief in her talent encouraged her to rediscover her voice. Thus, the debut In Love & WAR EP, Tessitura (2019), was born as the result of essentially a lifetime of melodies and lyrics that were always held back in fear—until now. The six songs on Tessitura represent a search for identity, love, meaning and truth in a world full of uncertainty and deception. It is an elaborate, yet desolate soundscape that is part trip-hop and part symphony.

Koi performed all the vocals and played/programmed all the instruments on Tessitura with the exception of the drums (Mike Diggs), and on the track “Tell Me You’ll be There,” guitar (Jake Faun) and flute (Ricky Berger).

Tessitura was produced by Koi Anunta, mixed by Ali Nikou, and mastered by Andrew Balogh.

Counting Chances – Forever in the Trees (Spotify)

“Trees are such fragile, so thin, everything is dropped from the foliage at the wet soil. The wind blows in their thick, shaggy hats. Under the barefoot legs flow silent streams of leaves. -Forever in the trees- awakens the love of nature in us, without which you do not feel truly alive and free.”

“Деревья такие робкие, такие худенькие, всё роняют листву у скрипучих ворот. Ветер гуляет в их густых, мохнатых шапках, а под босыми ногами извиваются рукава ручьёв. -Forever in the Trees- пробуждает в нас любовь к природе, без которой не чувствуешь себя по-настоящему живым и свободным.”

Miles Pascall – Faith over Fear (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“"Miles Pascall" brakes his traditional rule of working for other artists and this time offers something directly to his audience. Made with piano melodies and his expressive voice, "Faith over Fear" can easily be classified among those Neoclassical beauties that stick in the mind and sometimes... stay there for years!”

-Nagamag.com

Rising London-based singer-songwriter Miles Pascall has made an impressive statement with new independently released single “Faith over Fear”. Having toured some of the world’s biggest arenas as a drummer for Cosha/Bonzai and been a session musician for many other artists, Miles’ elite musicianship comes to the forefront on this latest release as he strips everything back to let his powerful songwriting and emotive vocals take centre stage.

“Faith over Fear” encapsulates Miles’ ability to convey his deepest and most honest feelings in song form, with the lyrics doubling as a mantra for both the listener and for Miles himself to strive to put faith over fear in the toughest of situations. The lyrics are amplified further by being purposefully positioned against a minimalistic production led by piano to allow space for the listener’s own rationale and interpretation.

Speaking more on the track, Miles says, “‘Faith over Fear’ is the decision to take back control, regardless of whoever or whatever you choose to believe or not believe in. A few years back I read a quote that said ‘great songs aren’t written, they’re rewritten’, and so I really took my time with this song to get it to where it is now. I initially wrote it back in 2016 from a female’s perspective, and since then it’s changed title twice, been transposed three times to better suit my voice, and the lyric sheet has been rewritten maybe about four or five times.”

With a strong musical foundation built and established over many years, it’s clear Miles is one to watch out for as an artist in his own right if this latest single is any indication. Having already received acclaim from the likes of the BBC and Q Magazine and with more new music planned for 2021, he looks set to continue his impressive rise in the UK and beyond. “Faith over Fear” is available to buy/stream now on all platforms: https://found.ee/bIsHC
