Doppe & Kokke Interview on Nagamag

.

Nagamag:
Which are the genres that describe your music style better?

Doppe & Kokke:
We are definitely in the area of house music, in particular tropical house, and EDM. But we don't want to limit ourselves. We have a couple of chillstep tracks on the way also. We love a good melody that you can go and whistle on for a long time after hearing the track.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Doppe & Kokke:
We have always been interested in music but never taken the step to produce our own. Our original careers are in a very different area. At least once per year we go on a road trip around Europe and we prepare for weeks before to have the right playlists to set the mood in the car. The last year we have not been able to go on a trip, but we missed it and the good music, so we decided it was time to produce some of our own beats that we can listen to when the lockdown is over.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Doppe & Kokke:
The last years from maybe where Avicii, Kygo and similar DJs started to breakthrough I think we found a genre that was more appealing for both of us. We have always liked electronic music, but adding a great singer and making awesome melodies talks to us.

Nagamag:
What is your next project?

Doppe & Kokke:
We have a few new tracks in the making, but we are not stressing them. Without revealing too much one of them we are especially fond of which is a kind of mix of tropical house and RNB beats. We are currently working with a great singer and when she is ready I believe we have the next hit song ready.

Nagamag:
Many artists listen to genres that they are not producing music for. Which track is your favorite that is NOT similar to yours?

Doppe & Kokke:
Doppe: Jan Hammer Kokke: Gary Moore Doppe: "Miami Vice Theme" Kokke: "The Loner"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which is the track from a similar artist you admire?

Doppe & Kokke:
Ehrling "Sthlm Sunset"

Sam Blacky – Paradise (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“A taste of paradise can be found in this mind tripping creation from "Sam Blacky". Fascinating elusive singing guides us in a parallel spiritual world. Soft and strong, relaxing and energetic... surely something that worths listening.”

-Nagamag.com

Sam Blacky is back with her new single "Paradise," an appropriately titled house gem that evokes images of places like the sun-soaked Ibiza and Mykonos. The track features ethereal vocals by Florida-based singer/songwriter Madeline Austin; the two connected via social media and hit it off when Madeline sent demos for what is now "Paradise." Sam works in a deep, groovy bassline with gently undulating melodies, making for a sultry dancefloor track that will heat up the night wherever you may be. "Paradise" is the third single to come out on Blacky's own Stabby Records, which launched in February this year.

"'Paradise' is a more melodic track that I feel people can enjoy in different environments; listen to it while driving, use as a morning soundtrack after waking up, or dance to it in a club. I wanted to make it more universal than just a club banger. Once again, I pulled inspiration from all the beautiful places I have been to, and 'Paradise' feels like summer in Ibiza or Mykonos. It's the feeling of butterflies in your stomach, floating through the ocean with the wind on your face and a big carefree smile coming from within. Featured on 'Paradise' is singer/songwriter Madeline Austin. When I look for a female vocalist, I post on social media about it because I want to find someone fresh, new, unknown to give them a shot and keep the female movement going. Madi sent me a message and some demos, and the rest is history. She started as a fan, and I soon realized that she is a very talented singer and songwriter. Her vocals and lyrics about paradise, heaven, and a little flirty danger were just perfect for this release." - Sam Blacky

LYZZ – Jubilee (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“A bright star appears in the House/Techno music scene. "LYZZ" can easily attract our attention with this excellent production. We noticed a unique balance between powerful dancing electronic reefs and the artist's light singing voice. Great work and unforgetable experience.”

-Nagamag.com

Jubilee is a track that would be perfect at an open air outdoor festival at the beginning of the evening when the sun starts to go down. I think it brings people in a dreamy melancholic state due to the intense synths and dreamy vocals, this in combination with a pulsating deep 120 bpm groove and a soft poppy topline

Bryn Liedl – Underworld Ep | Inspired by ‘The Outlaw Ocean’ a book by Ian Urbina (Video)

Categories: Techno, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Unreal electronic mix with the power of Trance and the signature of “Bryn Liedl”. Just arrived in your sound collection in order to offer a unique ocean trip. A fairytale inspired by the sea nature. Feel the beat shaking your body while being breathless from those super melodies!”

-Nagamag.com

Underworld, the EP was inspired by Ian Urbina’s book, ‘The Outlaw Ocean’. Ian’s collaborative process involved sharing his library of sounds and video he’s taken across his career as a New York Times journalist covering the ocean

This sonic exploration into the ocean’s underworld mirrors Bryn’s personal journey of conscious growth. Collaborating with Ian opened up his frame of reference, allowing him to ask some difficult questions. How am I impacting the planet and more specifically the ocean? What effects do my everyday choices have on the sustainability of earth’s resources?

Monocule, Nicky Romero – Find You (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“Very tripping, gentle and unobtrusive work. Colaborative melodic techno track with etherial echo vocals and leading synthesizer melody which create the right mood.”

“Нежное и ненавязчивое, очень ритмичное и максимально актуальное произведение. Мелодичное техно, оглушающее эхо вокала и лидирующая мелодия синтезатора создают правильное настроение.”

-Nagamag.com

After teasing the world with "You Don't Know" back in March, Nicky Romero, as Monocule, releases the full version of his anticipated "Monocule Volume 2" EP, which features two brand new tracks that represent his Monocule moniker's signature dark sound masterfully. Following the groovy opening "Find You," a progressive gem with dreamy vocals and undulating melodies, he switches gears with "Silence," for which Monocule teamed up with Protocol's veteran DØBER and UK-based singer/songwriter Bertie Scott. It employs soulful, haunting vocals and melodic yet dark soundscapes with images of late-night drives and after-hour vibes. Closing out, we have the moody "You Don't Know," which ends the "Monocule Volume 2" EP. The release is a direct follow-up to "Monocule Volume 1" EP from 2020, and we hope Monocule will keep them coming.

After taking the world by storm with early hits such as "Legacy" with Krewella and #1 single "I Could Be The One" with Avicii, Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer, and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collaborations with Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Mike Williams & Amba Shepherd, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, DallasK & XYLØ, Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki & Kiiara to remixes for the likes of Robin Schulz, Kygo, Rita Ora, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne and more. While showcasing his label's roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show, Nicky Romero continues to innovate and evolve during these unprecedented times in the music industry. He debuted his ultra-modern "Another World" live stream concept last summer and keeps proving his ability to turn into gold everything he touches.

Freqish, Jason Whitmore – Falling For You (feat. Jason Whitmore) – song by Freqish, Jason Whitmore | Spotify (Spotify)

Legendary house and hip-hop NYC-based label Nervous Records is proud to debut Denver-based producer Freqish with his new single "Falling For You," featuring saxophonist Jason Whitmore. The track is a euphonious house gem that incorporates organic live instrumentals for an extra special touch of groove. "Falling For You" begins with piano chords that lead into a melodic breakdown, while its sultry vocal riffs complement Whitmore's stunning saxophone solo. With each release Freqish invites instrumentalists to capture the raw energy of a live band, and thus the track conjures images of dancing under dim lights with lovers, friends, and strangers. This release is his third since the inception of Freqish in 2020, and follows his recent single "Let's Get High" on Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird label. Check out Freqish's creative process around "Falling For You" below:

"I made this track in the middle of a pandemic, which oddly enough is when I actually found true love. A time when others felt isolated and alone. I felt solace for others who were lonely in their homes with limited human connection. I wanted to give people a reason to find hope through a dire time. Even in the darkness, you can find light if you just let the music guide you. When I was an intern at a studio in Chicago I always loved the vibe that came from getting artists together. When you get a bunch of creative minds in one space, it's like magic. Now through the internet, we have the ability to connect with one another, which is truly beautiful. This was my best attempt at recreating the studio vibe. I spend a lot of time on the phone with my artists trying to understand their creative process. I don’t tell them how to create, I just let their soul do the talking so that our end result is 100." - Freqish

Brandon Lee is the DJ, producer, and studio engineer behind the Freqish project, who has over 20 years of experience cutting his teeth in the music industry. His career has brought him to play at clubs such as The Church, Club Vinyl, and Beta Nightclub in his native Denver, as well as a two-year residency at Chicago's iconic Sound Bar. His releases under the Freqish alias have found homes on well-known house labels like Gettoblaster's We Jack, DJ Dan's InStereo Recordings, and Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records. As far as Freqish is concerned, the song isn't final until more artists are in the mix; his approach to collaborating is not only a way to bring new sounds to a genre in which samples of samples of samples have become the norm, but as an avenue to build the careers of a growing community of musicians. With "Falling For You," Lee proves yet again his talent as a multifaceted producer, and we can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
