The story of Misha Galaganov’s CHARM, PASSION, AND ACROBATICS began when the artist uncovered a trove of forgotten, 19th century viola music in a private library. The music on this album from composers Pierre Kunc, Désiré-Émile Inghelbrecht, and Ernest Chausson has long gone unplayed; Kunc’s musical manuscripts, for example, were kept under lock and key by the Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music until 2021. Featuring challenging virtuosic pieces alongside expressive, impressionistic masterworks, this album celebrates the boundless potential of the viola. The music transports the listener to a French salon of the Belle Époque, guided by Galaganov’s sensitive and technically-masterful performances.

On June 10th Lotta Wenglén and Anders Thorén from Wildie deliver a heart-warming bright country duet with the juxtaposed title 'Blackest Hole On Earth'. The single is out via Lotta's own label Margit Music.

Lotta Wenglén has a long career as a well-credentialed artist, songwriter and producer with her own Record Label Margit Music. She has toured with Whiskeytown, Chip Taylor, Rosie Thomas and has played in a lot of bands such as Blind Lake and Dollykollot. She was one of the five women portraid in the documentary film "I'm my own Dolly Parton" along side Nina Persson from The Cardigans.

On this song she has invited one of Sweden's most beautiful sounding voices in Anders Thorén from Malmö-based Wildie to sing and play with her. The song 'Blackest Hole on Earth" contains a sad, yet hopeful lyric. We can not think of a country duet without mentioning Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris but we feel that if John Prine made a duet with Kathryn Williams it may sound a bit like this.

June 10, 2022—Rising composer and violinist/violist Bryan Senti is debuting the track “Humo” off his forthcoming album Manu (due June 24 on Naïve Records), alongside a video directed by Guggenheim Award-winning experimental filmmaker Alexandra Cuesta.

The video is excerpted from a visual album that Cuesta has created for the full record. Senti explains, “If Manu at its essence is about connecting to a memory of a memory, then this film is its visual meditation. Shot on 16mm film through the Andean highlands, Ecuadorian coast and parts of the Amazon, the idea was to recast images to feelings, to create story where there was none, to will meaning. The production itself became metaphor for such a Kantian journey, as shooting a proper film on 16mm through unpredictable and hard-to-reach locations is a test of will itself.”

Senti recently debuted the album tracks “Mantra” and “Manu” with videos directed by Jared M. Royal and featuring the American Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Following the release of the deeply personal single ‘Peaches’, as well as her support dates with Goldfrapp at London’s Royal Festival Hall and the UK release of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore’, in which Alison reprised her role as Queenie Goldstein, ‘Meteor Shower’ is the second single taken from Alison’s forthcoming album ‘Still Come The Night’.

There are the songwriters who wait until a life-changing event happens, before disappearing to inject their entire soul into their work. When Alison began writing ‘Still Comes the Night’, she knew that she wanted to make an album about the different stages of what she was going through. The upcoming album spans the emotions of her journey, from the intensity and thrill of love, to the trepidatious excitement and unknowns of pregnancy, and everything surrounding grief and loss. For Alison the life changing event was her pregnancy ending, which resulted also in a dramatic shift in herself; the instant loss of a life path that she had only moments ago been on.

Driven by a gently propulsive groove, ‘Meteor Shower’ takes the early morning light to capture a distinctive mood of a specific moment in time: the morning after the loss. Written “the morning after the worst night – says Alison, “we were empty, exhausted, numb, yet the early morning light was so soft, the hills blue with frost…impossibly still, so quiet. Even in the depths of grief, I was struck by the beauty of where we were”. An infinite beat, spoken word vocals and pulsing synths take centre-stage in this compelling slice of folktronica.

Alison thinks of ‘Still Come The Night’ as an album for everyone to listen to and connect with, one that’s open and giving in its emotions; she thought about the vast weight of grief that people have carried over these past two years: isolation, fear, sadness, illness, loss of time, and the ensuing rush to resume normal life, without enough opportunity for processing it all. ‘Meteor Shower’ is the album’s poetic finale, book ending the equally hypnotic opener, ‘Bone Tired’.

“It felt like an ending piece, but it also felt like the beginning of something else. Weirdly, even in the moment it didn’t just feel like an ending – there felt like a lot of openness beyond it, the sense of dawn and space and breathing. ‘Now we are here / And now it is now’ is the ending of the record, like ‘this is where we go from’,” explains Alison.

Art-pop trio Mayuko release their version of "Chiaroscuro" to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the debut album by Einar Stray Orchestra. 2022 will see a series of singles, cover versions, and reworks of the album’s tracks, with Mayuko delivering the opening contribution!

Mayuko detail their approach to "Chiaroscuro":

"With its many different shades, 'Chiarsocuro' immediately resonated with all of us on an emotional level. But at the same time it was a big challenge to choose what details we wanted to concentrate on, musically. Pretty quickly we got stuck on the whistling part, and then built the rest around it. Even though both bands seem to be very different at first glance, there's actually a lot of common ground. Such as our love for the sound of strings or the oscillation between very quiet moments and sprawling, orchestral parts. Putting these commonalities into a new, minimalistic Mayuko costume was a very exciting and enriching process for us!"

A decade has passed since the release of Einar Stray Orchestra’s critically acclaimed debut album Chiaroscuro. To celebrate the 10 years anniversary the Norwegian band will do two exclusive concerts in June. With the one-time return of original member violinist Hanna Furuseth in the line-up, the quintet plays the album from start to finish in Berlin’s 1909 crematory Silent Green and Oslo’s 1901 central bank - Sentralen.

"I still can’t fully comprehend how we managed to make that album. Only 20 years old. We didn’t know anything. I guess the naivety made it come together, frontman Einar Stray reflects.

The album only received praise from the press. UK’s The 405 gave it 9 out of 10 and called it "outstanding piece of art" and German Rote Raupe wrote that it was "ein Meisterwerk!". Norway’s biggest paper Aftenposten stated that "Einar Stray delights, surprises, fascinates and captivates". After seing the band at Reeperbahn Festival GAFFA described it as "a revelation of beauty" to 6 out of 6 stars.

Since then the Norwegian indie rock gem has sharpened their expression. After two more critically acclaimed albums, two EPs, 100% concerts in Europe and Asia, and solid radio rotation in UK and Germany, the collective has become one of Norway's most experienced and playful acts. The band, known for their close (and Norwegian Grammy winning) collabs with Moddi and Cezinando, write songs about their religious upbringing, their love-hate relationship with Oslo and their «Peace Prize»- country’s double moral.

The title track «Lazy Day» is composed by bass player Jean-Pierre Schaller, a smoothly rolling theme which evolves smoothly thoughout the whole piece passing a dialogue like solo by bass and trumpet and culminating towards the end in looping cascades over the main theme.
