4 RHAPSODIES from critically-acclaimed pianist Kristina Marinova and Navona Records is a collection of vibrant, dynamic, and technically demanding works for solo piano. The album’s titular piece, Four Rhapsodies op. 11 by early 20th-Century composer Ernst von Dohnányi is rarely performed in concert given the level of musicianship it requires of pianists. Now, its combination of stark drama and dazzling virtuosic passages may be enjoyed by listeners everywhere. This impressive piece, along with works by the likes of Astor Piazzolla, Franz Liszt, and George Gershwin, makes for a varied collection of masterworks performed by the gifted hands of Kristina Marinova.

Frédéric Chopin x Dmitry Ishkhanov – 12 Études, Op. 25: No. 7 in C-Sharp Minor, B. 98 “Cello (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“A new spin on the true classics. You can feel Chopin smiling on us as his works are reborn, with feeling and grace. Channeled by a new class of the master’s class. ”

-Nagamag.com

Navona Records presents VIRTUOSO, a collection of works by Frederic Chopin performed by piano prodigy Dmitry Ishkhanov. Featured on this album are the pieces Ishkhanov cites as Chopin’s most meaningful: the four Mazurkas of Op. 17, the Nocturne in C sharp minor of Op. 27, and the Etudes of Op. 25, considered by many as one of the most challenging repertoires to master. Ishkhanov approaches these works with Chopin’s intentions in mind, conjuring a smooth singing voice from the piano in contrast to the instrument’s percussive nature. Ishkhanov performs a fresh iteration of Chopin’s work with integrity and finesse in this recording.

THE KING – Jordi Forniés (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“A composition that tells a story of love and rejection. A lonely cello and a bright, expressive piano melody create a strong resonance in the soul. Everything sounds very solid and thoughtful. Emotions flow like a river, charge and push the consciousness towards changes and revolution.”

“Композиция, которая рассказывает историю любви и отвержения. Одинокая виолончель и яркая, выразительная мелодия фортепиано создают сильный резонанс в душе. Всё звучит очень цельно и продуманно. Эмоции льются рекой, заряжают и подталкивают сознание к изменениям и перевороту сознания. ”

“Each of us has a special place, where to calm down and relax. At such moments, this music acts in a special way. The heart calms down at the end of the day, when the Sun sets on the horizon. Beautiful piano chords that can reach our tired souls.”

“Есть у каждого человека на этом свете особое место, куда он приходит отдохнуть и расслабиться. И именно в такие моменты подобная музыка воздействует особым образом. He had the opportunity to play in different rock bands and at the same time to continue studying piano in order to improve his piano technique and sensitivity as much as possible. Beyond the piano he has the great passion of synthesizers. The study of synthesizers allowed him to learn how to combine classical piano music with electronic music. His first solo work was 'Mosaic Room' (2017), a 5 track EP where piano and synthesizers overlap. From this moment on, in succession, he released a series of tracks that are characterized by a fusion between neo-classical and electronic music.

Artist shared few words with Nagamag behind her song inspiration:

"Stranger is a moment of reflection on the strange experience we all went trough recently. The lockdown.

The lockdown was like a surreal dream. A blanket of solitude and quietness that just felll on us. Rythms changed, patterns changed. We changed. And yet, in this silent storm I found something good: I found this person in my empty home that I had lost a little along the way.

Myself. I was a stranger to myself.

But suddenly there was enough time and space to look inwards and it felt good. It felt like meeting an old friend after a long time.

Writing this piece, this intimate conversation with my very own soul, was liberating.

Maybe it will feel the same for those who listen as well.”

Artist few words with Nagamag behind the source of his inspiration for this song:

"I wrote this song after I had gone for a walk during a rainy night in Berlin. In my neighborhood there wasn't much going on anymore except for a few people in a bar waiting for the rain to end while having a drink. I thought it’s just incredible how many different life stories and experiences take place in a single city. Music can completely change your perspective on what you perceive in that moment. This song is a little film music of life with which I tried to capture the feelings of that night."
