Mount Saint Elias – Light of Day

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Brass and guitar patterns mixed with an expressive voice in a single of Indie Folk character. The singer express disappointment about a person who betrayed him, but a will to turn the page can also help to releaf the pain.”

Artist said about this song:

" Produced by 2x Grammy nominee Jeff Kolhede in Oakland, Ca, Light of Day features a driving rhythm with quirky brass lines, rich imagery of the American South, fat harmonies, and an ear-wormy chorus. It's a little indie folksy, but also throws 60s soul vibes w/ the brass. Set in my hometown of Louisville, KY , where I was working for a summer as a cycling-trip guide, it's the story of trying to salvage a relationship that started perfectly but ended up twisted when I found out she had a boyfriend back at home I didn't know about. Brutal! "

The Feelings Parade – The Tides

“Enjoy a wonderful vocal duet unfolding their skillful guitar melodies in a song of Indie Folk style. Some crucial thoughts about life values are stated in those lyrics in order to conclude that nothing is assured.”

-Nagamag.com

San Francisco-based indie duo The Feelings Parade announce their debut album Let It Move You due August 19. Today, the songwriters share their next single and first track from the record, “The Tides.”

The captivating single vocalizes the discomfort we feel when the temporary homes we build, whether it be relationships, identities, or self-images are inevitably taken from us. The track opens the album with modular synth wave sounds created by synth legend Suzanne Ciani and a slow-burning growth of resonant strings and guitar, accompanied by a video.

In discussing the song, both singer-songwriters, Scott Ferreter and Morgan Bolender said, “In some ways, the song represents the mindset we both met in. Practicing choosing the truth of the unknown over comfort and safety.” They continued, “Both verses sing, ‘your job my son…’ and ‘your job my daughter…’ are Scott singing to himself. In that way, there’s an honoring of a sort of spiritual queerness.”

Shannon Hudson – I’m Praying Now

“In a world where all distances have been cut short and communication capabilities are endless, we may feel more isolated than ever. The artist spots the issue of human discriminations and prays for a better tomorrow. Original Americana style and top quality of sound by Shannon Hudson.”

Artist said about this song:

"I’ll just say it. I’m still floored when I hear this recording. Early on in the process of making this record, I got set up with an amazing bunch of musicians. I was on a high from doing the first song start to finish. The caliber of the band was so good, it was just flooring me.

At that point, I came to this song. I had in my head that I wanted some pedal steel guitar on it, and Jon Graboff is my favorite pedal steel player of all time. I had never met Jon, and I’m sure he didn’t know me at all - but I was riding a high - and I reached out to him - because, what could I lose? To my surprise, Jon was willing to play on the song. When he sent me a test run recording, I was floored. It was undeniable who was playing the part, because only Jon would play that type of part - and it was perfect.

The song itself is a reflection upon a lot of of events that have happened in the world over the last couple of years. Namely, the de-humanization of groups of people. In my experience, this is mostly done to stoke fear, and to reach some sort of political goal. I think we’ve gotten a little too good at ripping the humanity away from another human as of late, and we’d all be better off if we had to look those people in the face before making any rash decisions about them."

The Speaker Wars Featuring Stan Lynch – Never Ready To Go

“A serious production is out from "The Speaker Wars" and no fan of Rock should miss it. Wild riffs of electric guitar and explosive drums are carefully mixed with vocals of passion. We also felt a nostalgic touch in this sound and highly recommend listening on repeat.”

-Nagamag.com

The Speaker Wars are an Americana-Rock band formed by Stan Lynch (founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Texas singer-songwriter, Jon Christopher Davis (aka JCD).

"When JCD brought the song in, we knew we'd have to cut it live off the floor, old school. He called Andy and we went at it. Andy is a jewel. Has the gift of knowing exactly what to play and loves to drill straight down to the groove. That was the first time I'd been behind a kit since cutting with the Heartbreakers. Took me a day to find my legs. We all knew this could be something special. It's only gonna get better" - Stan Lynch

JCD muses: “My high school sweetheart, and partner of 36 years, is the inspiration behind the song. Anytime I’m with her, I'm never ready to go. I played a Gibson Les Paul, Fender P bass, and cut the lead vocal on a Shure 57. Andy's playing lead on his vintage Epiphone, Jay Brown brought it home on the B3 and Wurlitzer. After a couple of takes, we had it. Fresh yet vintage. I grew up on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, so seeing Stan behind the drums was cool. He hits like no other and plays on the back of the beat –– which I love. It’s greasy."

The catchy guitar riff, skillful drumming from Stan, and deep vocals from JCD, create an itch in your head that can only be scratched by playing the song over and over again. The dynamic lyricism and musicality are what’s going to prove once again that rock never dies.

-Nagamag.com

Artist said about this song:

"Singing along for the first time is a story about musical discovery. When we realize what music can do to our hearts and souls and bodies, there's this new yet ancient reckoning of us re-becoming our human selves and what it means to be part of the larger community of humanity. This song celebrates how music can light us up, make us feel connected, and come alive in the moment."
