Otosan – Nowhere feat. Julia Lostrom (Video)
“Endlessly fascinating groove that rumbles with a thunderous boom, and soulful vocal capabilities through a top notch sound and visuals production which allow us to enjoy this loud! ”

Like everyone else during the lockdown, Otosan’s lives were lived out online. But there’s always a silver lining…
This is where they discovered emerging Melbourne singer-songwriter Julia Lostrom on triple j Unearthed and knew they had to get her in on a session.
“We started scouring through triple j Unearthed for some amazing vocal talent, which is always our first go-to when looking for collaborators,” explain Otosan, aka Ryan Dickinson and Ultan Burke. “From the moment we heard Julia’s voice we knew she would be a perfect fit for the track. The first takes were recorded with Julia remotely in the first wave lockdowns in April and streamed on Instagram Live, then completed with a couple of real-life socially distanced recording sessions during a brief lifting of harsh restrictions in Melbourne.”
Vocalist Julia said, “I had just released my single ‘Walls’ on Unearthed and the Otosan guys thought my voice would suit their track, so they reached out and I loved it so much! It was so funny recording it virtually in the first lockdown and then we met up in the in-between stage between Melbourne’s strict lockdowns to record some parts and just got to hang out a bit. They’re such lovely guys.”

Harvee – Take It Back (Kevin McKay Extended Edit) [Glasgow Underground] – YouTube (Video)
“Prepare to dive into the world of classic House with Harvee. “Take It Back” recalls pleasant memories from the past and you simply cannot resist moving in its own rythm. Reccomented for your daily playlist.”
-Nagamag.com
Prodigious house music producer, Harvee, unleashes his latest single, ‘Take It Back’ on Glasgow Underground on 11th December. Label founder, Kevin McKay, who features on the release with an extended edit, made the Essex-born and bred youngster, the youngest ever artist to appear on Glasgow Underground at just 18 years old. Harvee’s future looks bright with releases on labels such as Fogbank, Juiced, Souluxe, and Play & Tonic, a spin from The Shapeshifters, and six Traxsource ‘Weekend Weapons’. Harvee’s uplifting house grooves show talent beyond his years and underline his status as a serious one to watch in 2021. Stream / download here: https://gu.lnk.to/TakeItBack.
Harvee, or Harvey Burry as he’s known to his mates, only celebrated his 18th birthday in August. Laying down his sticks as a drummer, some three years ago, Harvee turned his hand to production and released his first slew of singles in July 2020 on the likes of Fogbank, where he made a big impact with ‘For Fun’, which was dropped by The Shapeshifters at a sit-down, socially distanced at POW Brixton; the first time he’d ever heard his track in a club! This was a momentous occasion for the rising talent who had to Shazam it to prove to his mates that he wasn’t making it up!
Born into a musical family, Harvee was introduced to house music by his father, who himself released a few choice tracks back in the day as Back 2 Front. Says Harvee, “I’ve always been around music with my sister DJing in clubs in Ibiza and my Dad always loving house music. Hearing it played constantly is really what got me interested. I first started on Garage Band, which then lead to Logic around three years ago.”
Bitten by the bug, Harvee has upped his game from bedroom producer to a remarkable artist, crafting a steady stream of releases in 2020 with no fewer than six ‘Weekend Weapons’ on Traxsoure, including his remix of Makito’s ‘Purpose’ and ‘Tell Me’, both of which came on Souluxe Records.
His first single for Glasgow Underground, ‘Take It Back’, is an absolute gem with a clever use of disco samples and inspired vocals, helped along with some arrangement and production expertise from Kevin McKay. It cleverly straddles the divide between house and disco, with big strings soaring to the heavens while a funky bassline rolls down low. The warm drums are big hearted, and the vocal sample delivers emotion and feelgood vibes.
Glasgow Underground has a long running reputation for developing brand new and exciting talents, alongside working with legends of the scene, and this is further proof of that, coming as it does hot on the heels of a big new single from recent signings, Earth n Days. Alongside countless Beatport and Traxsource #1s, regular spots on the BBC Radio 1 shows of Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard, and numerous releases with over 1million streams, this label really is an icon of the scene.
What better way to end a breakout year for Harvee than with his biggest single so far on an influential house label that has been making and breaking records since before he was born…

Deep house: A subgenre of house that originated in the 1980s and is characterized by its use of complex chord structures, smooth basslines, and a relaxed, atmospheric sound.
Tech house: A subgenre of house that combines elements of techno and house music and is characterized by its use of intricate, percussive rhythms and a strong emphasis on production techniques.
Acid house: A subgenre of house that originated in the 1980s and is characterized by its use of the Roland TB-303 synthesizer, which produces a distinctive, squelchy sound known as the “acid” sound.
Tribal house: A subgenre of house that originated in the 1990s and is characterized by its use of percussion-heavy rhythms and a strong tribal influence.
Electro house: A subgenre of house that originated in the 2000s and is characterized by its use of electronic and synthesized sounds, as well as heavy basslines and a fast tempo.
Chicago house: A subgenre of house that originated in Chicago, Illinois and is characterized by its use of a four-on-the-floor beat, electronic drum machines, and synthesizers.
Funky house: A subgenre of house that combines elements of funk, soul, and disco with a four-on-the-floor beat and electronic production techniques.

Soulful house: A subgenre of house that combines elements of soul, funk, and disco with a four-on-the-floor beat and electronic production techniques.
Bass house: A subgenre of house that originated in the 2010s and is characterized by its use of heavy basslines, distorted synths, and a focus on high-energy dancefloor appeal.
Jackin’ house: A subgenre of house that originated in Chicago and is characterized by its use of a four-on-the-floor beat, funky basslines, and a strong emphasis on rhythm.
Ghetto house: A subgenre of house that originated in Chicago and is characterized by its use of raw, stripped-back production techniques and a focus on bass-heavy, percussive rhythms.
These are just a few examples of the many subgenres of house music that exist. Many house producers and DJs draw from a wide range of influences when creating their music, and the lines between different subgenres can be blurry at times.
The most used instruments in House Music
In house music, electronic instruments and production techniques are often used to create the distinctive sound of the genre. Some common electronic instruments and equipment that are used in the production of house music include:
Synthesizers: House music often makes use of synthesizers to create a wide range of electronic sounds, including basslines, melodies, and percussion.
Drum machines: House music often makes use of drum machines to create the characteristic four-on-the-floor beat that is a hallmark of the genre.
Samplers: House music producers often use samplers to manipulate and incorporate sounds from other sources, such as vocals, percussion, or other instrumentation, into their tracks.
Digital audio workstations (DAWs): House music producers often use digital audio workstations to create, edit, and arrange their tracks.
DJ controllers: House music DJs often use DJ controllers to mix and manipulate tracks in real-time.
Effects processors: House music producers and DJs often use effects processors, such as reverb, delay, and filters, to shape the sound of their tracks.
Vocals: vocals are often used in house music. In many cases, vocals are used to provide a catchy, repetitive phrase or hook that helps to drive the rhythm of the track and create a memorable listening experience. House music vocals are often processed with effects such as reverb, delay, and filtering to give them a distinctive sound. In some cases, house music producers will sample vocals from other sources, such as classic soul or disco tracks, and incorporate them into their own tracks. House music vocals can be performed by a solo artist or a group, and can be sung or spoken in a variety of styles. The lyrics in house music can vary widely depending on the specific track and the artist who created it. Some house music tracks may have lyrics that focus on themes such as love, relationships, or personal experiences, while others may have more abstract or spiritual themes. In some cases, the lyrics of a house music track may be secondary to the overall atmosphere or groove of the track, and may be used more as a means of creating a particular mood or feeling rather than conveying a specific message. In other cases, the lyrics of a house music track may be more prominent and may be used to convey a specific message or theme. Ultimately, the meaning of the lyrics in a house music track will depend on the specific artist and the context in which the track was created.
In addition to these electronic instruments, some house music producers and DJs may also incorporate live instrumentation, such as keyboards, drums, or guitar, into their tracks.
