‘Falling Apart’ releases on May 27th as the second single of a series of music releases by independent Dutch singer-songwriter Joost Laméris. It’s a dreamy indie/chillpop ballad capturing the sad and beautiful moments of a breakup. It is released after his last single ‘One More Time’ that has been streamed over 10k times in just a few weeks.

Nostalgic, desperate and emotional, ‘Falling Apart’ is a song in which the listener is stimulated to paint a vivid image in their mind. The song tells the story from the start of Joost’s ex-relationship, which took place during lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the healing after the breakup. It reminisces on the good times of being together, whilst also expressing the reality of how they've grown apart. The song describes that being in love and caring deeply for one another was not enough for their relationship to work. Whilst the essence of the song carries an emotional sadness, the instrumental turns the sound into a powerful feeling that things will be alright.

“People often break up due to a lack of love, but in this particular breakup it was the opposite. My ex and I cared deeply for each other, but our relationship didn’t work due to circumstances outside of that. I think we both had some healing to do before we could commit to another person. I think there is something beautiful about recognising that and I wanted ‘Falling Apart’ to describe this part of the breakup as well as the sadness that came with it”, says Joost. ‘Falling Apart’ is written by Joost Laméris and co-produced by Dylan van Dael.

‘Falling Apart’ is accompanied by a music video in collaboration with CUZZO Films. The video is a symbolic expression of the meaning of the song in which Joost is presented as two personas: the present and his past. Joost is chasing down his past in hopes to get back to the good memories. During the video, in which high fashion and nature play a big role, the past leaves a trail that Joost follows. Towards the end of the video, Joost catches up with his past and is faced by himself, in other words: he gets hit by reality when he faces his feelings and past.
