S. Salter – The Machine Stops

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“This neoclassical composition, as it might seem, prepares you to something unusual, as if you are approaching something unknown and unknown. But the melody at the end seems to fall into the abyss, leaving you in ignorance. Only the charm of the beauty of this creation remains white ash at your feet.” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Эта неоклассическая композиция, как может показаться, готовит вас к чему-то необычному, как будто вы приближаетесь к нечто неизведанному и непознанному. Но мелодия в конце словно падает в пропасть, оставляя вас в неведении. Лишь очарование красоты этого творения остаётся лежать белым пеплом у ваших ног.”

The Machine Stops lends its name from the short novel written by E.M. Forster in 1909. The delicate piano contrasts with the swelling and straining of the machines in a manner that mirrors the story, the emotiveness of humankind mixed with steely technology. The track builds to a cacophony of sound and textures before tumbling down to emptiness.

The String Theory – Solar Song

Categories: Audio, Features, Neoclassical, Neoclassical Features, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“The beauty and magic of a chamber orchestra, in which you can enjoy the singing of violins, the piano melody and plunge into the thick atmosphere of the female choir. A little sad, melancholy, but crazy beauty, which will leave behind a whole bouquet of unforgettable emotions!” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Красота и волшебство камерного оркестра, в котором можно насладиться пением скрипок, мелодией фортепиано и погрузиться в густую атмосферу женского хора. Немного грустная, меланхоличная, но безумной красоты композиция, которая оставит после себя целый букет незабываемых эмоций!”

The Grammy-nominated ensemble The String Theory are releasing ‘Solar Song’ - An intrinsic piece with a profound strings and vocalists motif - a musical flow carrying the idea that humans are made of the same stuff as the stars and each and every one carries Light, like an inner sun shining from within, maybe some would call it a soul. The melody generates from the feeling that each individual, each soul has a melody, its very own song, that is as old as the echo of creation. This unusual song will leave you pondering on your stardust origin while floating through the relativity of time.

“Music, which comes from the very bowels of your lonely soul and wants to be more heard. There is something ritual in this neoclassical melody that arouses hidden feelings. A beautiful, chamber composition with the breath of cello. Such live and so necessary here and now. Thank you!” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Музыка, которая исходит из самых недр вашей одинокой души и желает быть скорее услышанной. Есть в этой неоклассической мелодии нечто ритуальное, что пробуждает скрытые чувства. Прекрасная, камерная композиция с дыханием виолончели. Такая живая и такая необходимая здесь и сейчас. Спасибо!”

-Nagamag.com

"Aorta" is a moody, all cello, multi-layer track, inspired by its live-looped version. Its sound is a fusion of soundtrack, hip hop, and classical. This track is part of the album, I AM, which will be released later this summer.

Anne Marie Almedal Interview on Nagamag

Nagamag:
Which are the genres that describe your music style better?

Anne Marie Almedal:
Dream pop, cinematic, indie, female vocal, scandinavian!

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Anne Marie Almedal:
Former lead singer of Norwegian art-pop indie band "Velvet Belly" since the mid90's Anne Marie Almedal has beguiled listeners in her near 30 year music career. Each of her five solo albums are all landmark dream-pop releases, from "female Nick Drake" nordic noir folk-pop to the more stirring electronic comeback album "We Dance Alone". Her music has been described as "sweetness multiplied, sadness tripled, her music brings you one step closer to heaven. As fantastic as sharing the last cigarette with the one you love".

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Anne Marie Almedal:
Growing up in the lonely (but beautiful) suburban, southern coast of Norway, music was an essential escape and soul food. For a melancholic teenager, the voice and songs of other dreamy female artists had a huge impact on my own journey into songwriting and vocal delivery. Liz Fraser/Cocteau Twins, and of course, who else but Kate Bush...first time round:-)

Nagamag:
What are your favourite tracks for the new album?

Anne Marie Almedal:
There are naturally so many songs on my new album that mean such a lot to me, written and produced during the best-forgotten lockdown, where we were all faced with ”dancing alone”, and of my private experience of coping with, and recovering from, breast cancer. Yes, I know it’s a cliché, but music can really give us the magic to breathe, heal, smile, in dark times, and despite the tough background behind the songs, I´m proud to say that they are thankfully like little angels, moments of light. So happy to share to all who want to listen! As far as fave tracks, right now I´d say ”Freeze The Moment”...
A song for those inner moments, walking in the forest, lost in the now. I wanted to capture something both dream-poppy and vaguely post-industrial....something healing, magical, happy/sad to cope with some pretty cold, heavy feelings. Somewhere where my lonely scandi-noir could feel equally at home in some imaginary futuristic misty factory landscapes. Nothing beats the pure joy of expressing loneliness in a warm haze of drum machines, broken synths and shoegaze guitars!
and also the track ”Runaway Turnaround”

Coming to terms with distant memories of youth, distant love affairs,.. ” Runaway Turnaround” is like a burnt-out polaroid snapshot of all my favourite mystical 80’s melancholy synth-pop moments, wrapped with the (thankfully) wiser know-how of who I am today... Again, this song went against my insticts of seeking solace in the ”folksy”, when feeling low, and rather choosing to being energized and reinvorgated by some life-enhancing, larger-than-life synth soundscapes, and some direct, honest feelings.

Nagamag:
Many artists listen to genres that they are not producing music for. Which track is your favorite that is NOT similar to yours?

Anne Marie Almedal:
Edda Dell'Orso "Ennio Morricone Poesia Di Una Donna"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which is the track from a similar artist you admire?

Anne Marie Almedal:
Cocteau Twins Heaven Or Las Vegas

Santiago Delacruz – Your Broken Heart Awakens

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Broken hearts need the suitable music to recover and Santiago Delacruz has the answer. Fine melodies of Solo Piano are ready to shed their light in your dark mood. Starting slowly and progressing on a more vigorous pace, this piece can awaken your senses.”

-Nagamag.com

This is a classical contemporary, solo piano song. Emotionally for me the song is one of triumph after a fall - the courage to begin again. There are hints of jazz in the piano chord voicings and in the syncopated feel of some areas. But mostly it is a sweeping and romantic.

Frederik Magle – Fanfare and Anthem ‘Skyward’

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“The anthem of the wind ensemble, with a slight percussion and a kind of atmosphere of patriotism. It is perfect as a design for any of your visual installations and will be the best musical decoration for them.” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Гимн духового ансамбля, с лёгкой перкуссией и своеобразной атмосферой патриотизма. Прекрасно подойдёт в качестве оформления для любой из ваших визуальных инсталляций и будет лучшим для них музыкальным украшением.”

-Nagamag.com

Performed by Prinsens Musikkorps (The Prince of Denmark Air Force Band), conducted by Peter Ettrup Larsen. Audio release on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, etc. on 6 May, 2022.

Originally to be composed by John Williams (Star Wars, etc.). When Williams had to drop out because of time constraints Frederik Magle was tasked with composing the epic soundtrack for the rollout – see video – of the new Danish F-35 fighters, the single largest investment in Denmark’s history (27 billion Kroner). Since then ‘Skyward’ has become the main Fanfare for the Royal Danish Air Force and is being performed live at almost all major Air force events and ceremonies.

But ‘Skyward’ has a meaning that stretches far outside of just military music. It is a piece of hope and dreams of new horizons, looking and yearning towards the sky, and though fully acknowledging its origin from an air force/military context, ‘Skyward’ itself is a fanfare and anthem for peace, not war.

B Prasanna – Gagan Dhuan Dhuan

Categories: Audio, The Latest, World Music|Tags: , , , , |

“Namasta to all those who start their morning with meditation. Your path will be forgotten where the music begins. We want to introduce you to one of the musical miracles in which the melody pours with heaven a sacred source, healing the fallen souls and wounds. Living, ethnic music, incredible beauty of vocals and enchanting sounds of nature. Namascar.” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Намасте всем тем, кто начинает своё утро с медитации. Ваш путь простилается там, где начинается музыка. Мы хотим познакомить вас с одним из музыкальных чудес, в котором мелодия льётся с небес священным источником, исцеляя падшие души и раны. Живая, этническая музыка, невероятной красоты вокал и чарующие звуки природы. Намаскар.”

-Nagamag.com

Gagan Dhuan Dhuan is an ode to the impressionist era. It is custom made for the enchanting quality of Bombay Jayashri’s voice and range. It flows with her vocal from start to end sans any interludes or no non-sequiturs. The song is an impression of a woman sitting by the window and singing to herself, all alone in her hill-top house. Her voice reflects her nostalgia, while the music feeds off the nature around her.
