Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Many of us spend time thinking about their appearance and in fact, aren’t satisfied with the way they look like. Rejection doesn’t help and only if you accept yourself, you can move towards improvement. This is the message we get from Jessia via her playful single “I’m not Pretty”. Sharing some unexpected fun with her good sound too.”

After turning a short TikTok video shot in her car into an empowering body acceptance anthem with over 70 million streams, Vancouver -based pop singer and songwriter JESSIA shares the music video for her breakthrough anthem “I’m not Pretty” today via Artist Driven Records/Republic Records.

In the visual, JESSIA steps through the looking glass to confront her insecurities in a playful and tongue-in-cheek kind of way and falls down a rabbit hole into an imaginary yet cinematic eye-popping peach filled wonderland inspired by Roald Dahl’s ‘James and The Giant Peach’. The video illuminates the rising artist’s fun and quirky persona, which is as infectious as the song itself.

On shooting the video for “I’m not Pretty” JESSIA says, “Filming the music video was such a surreal experience. I kept looking around set and asking myself, ‘are all of these people here for me and my song? What? Am I really here right now? What a time. It was such a party on set! SUCH A BLAST!”

“I’m not Pretty” initially exploded on Tik Tok when JESSIA introduced an acapella hook of the song by sharing, “I don’t know if this is total trash, or if it’s actually a bop.” Turns out, it was the latter as the clip racked up 1 million views in a day. The candid lyrics describe a journey towards self-love and the emotions one can feel while on its path – a message that has instantly resonated with audiences all over the world. Since January 1st, the clip has accumulated 100 million views, while the official version produced by 4x JUNO Award nominee, singer, songwriter, and producer elijah woods has cracked 43 million Spotify streams as she averages 5.3 million monthly listeners on the platform.

In addition to early support from international tastemakers, Grammy award winning singer, songwriter, and producer Ryan Tedder personally reached out to JESSIA upon hearing the song to champion her work and collaborate. Together they are putting the finishing touches on new music—due out soon.

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , , |

“If you believe in love and independent feelings and you’re not afraid to be vulnerable in a stream of emotions, the song -Vulnerable- is just for you. Atmospheric, crystal electro & dream pop sound, with a dreamy and slightly aspiration vocal touch of -Silvia Nita-.”

“Если вы верите в любовь и независимость чувств и не боитесь быть уязвимыми в потоке из чувств, то песня -Vulnerable- для вас. Атмосферное, кристальное звучание electro & dream pop и мечтательный, с лёгким придыханием вокал -Silvia Nita-.”

-Nagamag.com

“Vulnerable” describes the common fear of falling in love. The story is inspired by a dating stage where the desire for emotional attachment conflicts with the need to be independent. The bittersweet feeling of this journey is musically enriched by the alternation of electric guitar with violin, all on a steady electronic beat. This gives the song a dream pop/nostalgic vibe, being perfect to be listened to at night, when travelling or taking the time to reflect on life.

Silvia Nita is a singer-songwriter from Bucharest, Romania. Aged 21, she decided to take her passion and work with music to another level, debuting with the song “Vulnerable”. The single hints to the music style that is currently closest to her heart – pop, with some almost dark, dreamy influences. Silvia promises to only create and share music that resonates with her soul, whilst hoping to capture the pulse of society, especially the youth.

QUOTE

“While ‘Parallel Parking’ is undoubtedly a love story, I also wanted to express my gratitude for everything I have going well in my life and hopefully emit and spread positivity through my music.”

-Arden Jones

“Parallel Parking”

On the surface, the upbeat car-themed track perfectly captures the feeling of infatuation and excitement in a new potential love interest and budding relationship, but beyond the lyrics, Arden aims to spread positivity through his illuminating outlook on life and undeniably infectious energy.

The music video offers a new perspective to the narrative, with Arden playing the seemingly unimportant and background role of a golf caddy while his love interest clearly isn’t being treated right. The vibrant visual accompaniment offers a triumphant, happy resolve and a pleasantly surprising role reversal, ending with the love interest handing him his car keys instead as they happily walk off into the sunset together.

GOLDHOPE – You & I (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Are you a social person or you prefer to walk alone? A song that gives emphasis to the benefits of a good company in our life. Soulful lyrics and elegant singing with alterantive electronic soundscapes. The hope we need to overcome obstacles, to keep going on and on.”

-Nagamag.com

You & I was written about the battle we often feel within ourselves, those unrelenting anxieties that can feel so alien and confusing to who we really are. It lives inside a part of your mind you don’t really understand, that doesn’t serve to help you in any way but thrives on making itself known at the most inconvenient of times, without invitation. This song is about facing that voice in your head, calling it out and realising that it does not define or control you, and knowing that you can break free from it.

GOLDHOPE are an ethereal alt-pop duo from North London comprising of members Zelah Van-Gowler and Elliot Neale. Encapsulating a distinctive blend of moody, raw and electronic soundscapes with soulful vocals and a focus on sultry, introspective lyrics, there is an all-encompassing range of human emotion and feeling to be found within the music. Prominent influences include BANKS, London Grammar and Sharon Van Etten.

The pair met whilst studying at university, with Zelah a keen writer and solo artist, and Elliot a budding lead guitarist and producer, and, having experimented with different sounds and projects of their own over the years, including their previous joint project under the name ZELAH, the two are now further refining their identity as collaborative artists in 2021 under their new name GOLDHOPE.

They are set to kickstart the year with their sophomore EP ‘Divided’ due for release in May, in the hope to build upon their previous successes in 2020 which saw them support Asgier at Shepherds Bush Empire back in February, and their debut EP ‘I’ receiving pick up from BBC Introducing in Cambridgeshire, CLASH mag and Spotify’s Alt.Pop and New Pop UK playlists.

andreas owens – falling & falling (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“How many times have we felt falling? But we should realize that after a fall, we can only stand up. "falling & falling" describes the difficulty to control passions and obsessions. A meaningful song, which can give back the lost courage to move up again.”

-Nagamag.com

MARCH 19TH, 2021 – Los Angeles-based producer and singer-songwriter andreas owens releases his sophomore single, “falling & falling”, an experimental alternative pop track that samples The Millennial Club’s single, “If You Stay”, and is about our societal addiction to our phones and technology. The song follows the release of his incredibly lauded debut single, “don’t feel happy ◡̈”, which was well-received by outlets like DUMMY Mag, Substream Magazine, and We Found New Music, and landed on Spotify’s editorial playlists: Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds: Pop, and Study Break.

“falling & falling”

Though the song has a pop-inspired exterior, underneath it all shines a gutsy surge of unabashed realism. A commentary on society’s addiction to social media and the Internet, andreas owens has crafted an irresistible pop shell with a helpless, all-too-relatable core. Being at the mercy of our own desires, it reveals, on every level, our 21st century disposition to spend more time on our phones than with our friends and family.

Another major theme in the track is the idea of seeing things on our phones that we wish we hadn’t. There’s a sad truth behind the realistic and modern limits to which we can protect our souls. At the end of the day, it’s something we brought upon ourselves due to our learned obsessive nature for attention and social engagement, and while at times it can be beneficial, it too often isn’t.

QUOTES

“The concept behind ‘falling & falling’ alludes to our collective (and my own) societal addiction to our phones. I remember having a conversation with my friends about how we all kinda want to be on our phones less, but still sadly just find ourselves ‘crawling back’ to them every single day. I think we’ve all had similar thoughts, wondering, ‘omfg how is it possible that I’ve been scrolling through TikTok and Instagram for two hours?’”

“Oftentimes, while it’s enjoyable to catch up on friends’ lives and see what they’re up to, these days, I feel like half the time I don’t even like doing that anymore because I’ve created such a negative relationship with social media and the online space. The Internet is more relevant now than it’s ever been, and ‘falling & falling’ is a screenshot of my relationship with it.”

“The single -Roots- combines the mood and atmosphere of the late '70s with early '80s. classic synthesizer sounds, modern processed drums, bass and a unique voice from -The 80s Kid-. This music will never go unnoticed!”

“Сингл -Roots- соединяет в себе настроение и атмосферу конца 1970-х и начала 1980-х годов. Синтезированные звуки уже ставшими классикой синтезаторов, обработка современными ударными и басом и уникальный и такой искренний голос -The 80s Kid-. Такая музыка никогда не останется незамеченной!”

It’s hard to come across well-executed modern remakes of classic 80’s music, but The 80’s Kid - or James, as his friend knows him - is a major exception. Besides it being in the name, 80’s music it’s clearly in the blood of this incredibly talented, Swedish individual.‘Roots’, his new single - exemplifies this throughout. With Bee Gee’s like vocals, seductive synth pads, and uplifting guitar melodies set record to be played all throughout the summer. Despite this only being his sixth released record, The 80’s Kid has had his fair share of experience in the music industry. Karen-Lee Batten – Drinkin’ Song (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Your "Drinkin' Song" is now available by the fantastic Karen-Lee Batten. Striking Country sound with exuberant voice in the lyrics, are fair enough to feel the rhythm in your vains. Whether you're alone or not, this is an excellent company for the next three minutes!”

-Nagamag.com

Award-winning Canadian country recording artist Karen Lee Batten is thrilled to release her sassy new party single, “Drinkin’ Song”. New on all digital platforms, the track will go to Canadian country radio on April 26th.

Co-written by Batten with Jeff Johnson (Madeline Merlo), and Mitch Merrett (Tyler Joe Miller) – and co-produced by Merrett (Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion) and Johnson (Meghan Patrick) – “Drinkin’ Song” is an intoxicating blend of traditional country sass topped off with the musical equivalent of a lightning shot of moonshine.

Inspired by the ups and downs of a past relationship, “Drinkin’ Song” is Batten’s sing-along anthem for when life’s curveballs call for a loud bar, a stiff drink, and a good laugh.

Speaking about the single, Batten says, “We wrote ‘Drinkin’ Song’ as a party tune to remind us that lettin’ loose is a must in order to take us away from what’s not working. We don’t always need a sad song to get us through the rough times. In country music, we like to think that the answer for everything is in a honkytonk bar – where you can raise your glass, sing along, and have a wicked time with your crew.”

For Batten – a former “Canadian Idol” finalist and 7-time BC Country Music Association Award Winner for Female Artist of the Year – “Drinkin’ Song” follows last year’s well-received single release, “Too Strong”, and comes after winning the 2020 BCCMA Award for Fans’ Choice. “Drinkin’ Song” is the second single from her planned EP, which will be released next fall.

The process of co-writing the majority of the songs on the EP has been a creatively rewarding experience of inspiration and reflection for Batten – with “Drinkin’ Song” being the latest example.

She says, “While ‘Drinkin’ Song’ comes from a challenging time, the process of bringing it to life made me realize and celebrate just how far I’ve come. I hope people can listen to it and be grateful for turning their own hard times into good times.”

Karen Lee Batten will be supporting “Drinkin’ Song” with an official music video in advance of its April 26th release to Canadian country radio.

“Drinkin’ Song” is available across all digital platforms now.
