From the rolling fields of wheat
To the busy city streets
There’s a feeling and a spirit all our own
True North, strong and free
Stand on guard, you and me
From the east to the west we roam
This is our home
From Norman Wells at the top
All the way to the Rock
There’s a wind that’s always blown
And from down Summerside
To the Queen Charlotte Islands
There’s a way of life we’ve always known
This is our home
I’ve seen the Northern Lights
Dancing over Yellowknife
While standing in the middle of a field
And from Pier 21
All the way to Flin Flon
You’ve gotta cross the Canadian Shield
And no one knows winter
Like we know winter
Blowing in off Lake Ontario
From the Rideau Canal
To Bonhomme Carnaval
There’s a little place I love in the Gatineaus
With a covered bridge and a swimming hole
This is our home
From Portage and Main
To Yonge and Queen
And every street corner in between
No matter where you go in this rugged land
There’s one thing we all understand
Every woman, every child, and Man

Way up in Peace Country
Down east in King’s County
And clear across to Thunder Bay
Where Winnipeg feels like f

Ever since we were in the 4th grade
She was singing lessons ballet lead in the play
I should’ve known it’d go down this way
She was a star in the making
late nights we’d be hitting the drive ins
Black and white movies she was quoting the lines and
She was always shining
Way too much for this place
Maybe I should be holding out hope
But deep down I already know
That girl is on airplane mode good as gone
got her headphones in and her blinders on
Set her sights on the hollywood sign
Won’t stop, till her name is up in lights
Good god it’s hard to let her go
But I always knew she was headed down this road
Wish I could stop her but I know I won’t
That girl, she’s on airplane mode
I can already see me waiting on a text that says
I landed safely in LAX
My friends will see her on the TV saying
Isn’t that you Ex
And I’ll wonder what could have been
Maybe I should be holding out hope
But deep down I already know
That girl is on airplane mode good as gone
Got her headphones in and her blinders on
Set her sights on the hollywood sign
Won’t stop, till her name is up in lights
Good God it’s hard to let her go
But I always knew she was headed down this road
Wish I could stop her but I know I won’t
That girl, she’s on airplane mode
She’ll say it’s her not me and man I’ll believe her
Maybe I’ll buy a ticket cuz I just can’t leave her
But the golden state just can’t wait
And either way she’s getting on that plane
That girl is on airplane mode good as gone
Got her headphones in and her blinders on
Set her sights on the hollywood sign
Won’t stop, till her name is up in lights
Good God it’s hard to let her go
But I always knew she was headed down this road
Wish I could stop her but I know I won’t
That girl, she’s on airplane mode

It’s seen me on the best of days
It’s seen me in the worst of ways
Oh, it’s seen me broken down and empty
It’s made me smile and it’s heard me cry
Caught some tears from some sad goodbyes
Oh, it’s with me whenever I feel lonely
No it don’t say a word so you probably won’t understand
But I’m right at home when it’s right here in my hand
I’m just a man with no plan who was born to run
Following the wind or the Mississippi sun
Keep my things close beside with my six string in the back
Let my music take me where it wants to go
Chasing the words as my crowd grows
I’m home long enough just to let her down
Then me and my suitcase leave this town
I packed it up as she begged me to stay
Wish I had the words to communicate what I was feeling
A dream-filled reckless decision
No it don’t say a word so you probably won’t understand
But I’m right at home when it’s right here in my hand
I’m just a man with no plan who was born to run
Following the wind or the Mississippi sun
Keep my things close beside with my six string in the back
Let my music take me where it wants to go
Chasing the words as my crowd grows
I’m home long enough just to let her down
Then me and my suitcase leave this town
It’d be nice if I was more settled
And I could give her what she wants
But you can’t be sentimental
When you spend your life chasing a song
And I’m just a man with no plan who was born to run
Following the wind or the Mississippi sun
Keep my things close beside with my six string in the back
Let my music take me where it wants to go
Chasing the words as my crowd grows
I’m home long enough just to let her down
Then me and my suitcase leave this town
Oh, me and my suitcase leave this town
