“Standing Tall from Eric Ananda is a bright electro pop song, which starts with beautiful vibes and as it moves on expands his diversity in sound design layering through a top notch mix and production. A refreshing theme with sound quality and glowing vocals! ”

-Nagamag.com

Eric Ananda is a Kenyan record producer who since early childhood has had a passion for music. Starting to play the guitar at a very young age and by the age of 6 he learnt to play the guitar and piano; through the ABRSM music board. The standards required to pass each stage of the ABRSM course equipped him with an early understanding of the dexterity required to achieve a fluent performance. At age 9, he begun to play the clarinet in order to join his preparatory school orchestra and gain the chance to expose himself to different genres of music, classical included.

In his teenage years came maturity as he explored a new interest in playing covers for songs by well known bands such as Nickelback, Daughtry, Lifehouse among many others. Meanwhile as his desire to pursue music further grew, Eric’s influence also expanded to hip-hop. There he has had the opportunity to interact with other like minds; some of which introduced him to another popular culture of music, EDM (Electronic Dance Music).

His first official release “Abode” was released in 2015 under his alias Raejbass on Ensis Records. After its positive reception, it encouraged Eric to continue experimenting in different sectors of the electronic music scene, examples of which are marketing to label managing.

In late 2018, Eric made the decision to leave Raejbass behind and begun releasing music under his legal name. 2020 has welcomed more exposure for Eric, namely contributing to releases where he will be credited as a producer and songwriter instead of an artist. Most recently, he is set to release his Debut EP “Drive” in May 2020 and looks forward to coming opportunities that the rest of the year will bring.

KINGS – call me when you grow up… (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“The sound quality here is top noth, with the music layering tickling your ears and the fresh bright yet warm vocals of KINGS fills the gap between harmonies and beat in a perfect sync. Wonderful song both in vocal and music level. ”

-Nagamag.com

KINGS said about this song "I think we can all agree that teenage boys can be pretty immature, to say the least. So I decided to call them out and have a little fun with it. This song is one of my favorites I’ve ever written. I wanted to take a less-than-desirable situation and turn it into an anthem. “call me when you grow up…” relates to a lot of situations I’ve been in.. I was sort of talking to this boy, who thought we were going somewhere, but it obviously was not. He’s the kind of guy who would flirt with every girl he passes on the street if he could. The good thing is, I wasn’t hurt in the slightest since I definitely knew what was going on. It’s actually hilarious because even when he hears the song, he probably won’t know it’s about him. The same goes for most of my songs."

Few words about KINGS:
From the moment her dad played the “Bohemian Rhapsody”, KINGS wanted to write and sing songs that moved others in the same way. Music is not only her first language, but, also, her first love. Music is the way she communicates when words alone are not enough.

KINGS started performing at the bright, young age of three years old. From there she realized her true passion for music. She placed every ounce of creativity and energy possible into the writing songs, especially after being rejected and hurt by what she thought to be friends.

She left her small town in North Carolina, and moved to Nashville inching closer to her dream. KINGS started creating a social media presence on the widely popular platform TikTok. Not only was she establishing a footprint for herself, she created a beautiful set of songs with a three time Grammy nominated producer/composer that fully encapsulated her vision.

Years upon years of dedication and hard work have lead to this moment. The upcoming release of her first song titled “call me when you grow up…” is an anthem to a less than desirable relationship. The title says it all, and it will leave you with the words stuck in your head wanting to put the song back on to help with the earworm syndrome that this song will cause. You can find this song on all streaming platforms on June 19th.

Mokita – Down (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Down from Mokita is the right music pill to push out your shady thoughts that usualy comes at night, soft sound as feather gives you the positive thoughts to finish a long day with clean mind and dream for tomorrow. ”

-Nagamag.com

Nashville singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mokitais released his new single/video, “Down” last Friday, 8/28. Unrelentingly honest and deeply personal, Mokitaapproaches songwriting as a confessional form of expression, often tackling the sincerest of subjects with thoughtful clarity. His new single “Down,” is a love letter to anyone who is struggling right now. Beginning with a somber piano introduction, “Down” surges into a meditative, downtempo pop number that’s guided by poignant yet hopeful lyricism.

“I’ve had some really rough seasons in my life where my depression was just so bad and I didn’t feel like I was ever going climb out of it,but through those times I’ve had some close friends who have walked with me through those seasons; who have encouraged me and just been present,” Mokitawrites.“I think the theme of this song was really just a letter to those friends who are going through those things, and to anyone who is having a hard time. Everybody needs a friend to walk with them through the hard seasons and sometimes just being present, being available to listen, and being faithful, is the best way to love someone through those times.”

Raised in a small town in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, and, later, western North Carolina, Mokita— born John-Luke Carter — took to music at a young age, beginning 13 years of classical piano lessons at age six, before picking up the guitar and trying his hand at songwriting as a teen. Relocating to Nashville after college, John-Luke took on the Mokitamoniker, a name adopted from Kivila, a language native to Papua New Guinea. The word Mokitaroughly translates to “the truth we all know but don’t talk about,” and it’s that sentiment that has always informed Carter’s approach to songwriting, exploring themes like depression, anxiety, the joy and stress and uncertainty of budding and fading relationships, and other personal themes, all in ways we all too often feel but rarely so truthfully articulate.

Mokita’s knack for songwriting and producing has led to collaborations with noteworthy artists like Ella Vos, R3HAB, Lost Frequencies, and Gavin Haley, as well as remixes for Maggie Rogers, Betty Who, and Daya. In recent years, Mokitahas also stepped out from behind the scenes, making a name for himself as an artist in his own right. His debut EP, 4201, was released in 2019 and he has continued to roll out a string of standout singles over the course of year. With over 200M+ combined streams and praise from the likes of Billboard, Wonderland Magazine, and Ones To Watch, Mokitais certainly an act to keep an eye on.

But is this the most soft, warm and sweet high freq and hats/snares we have hear lately? certainly yes. Solid production!”

-Nagamag.com

Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Michelle Ray gifts us with her upcoming single "Chasing Shadows," a pop offering that sounds like sweet sweet summer.

"I started singing before I could talk," Ray exclaims. The natural-born talent began classical training at age 10 after begging for vocal lessons and the rest was history. Growing up in an extremely musical home shaped her destined future. Her dad managed a rock band with whom she performed backing vocals on their national tours at age 17 and opened for their sold out-shows in Japan at age 26. "I grew up in the home my mom grew up in and we lived with my grandma who was a music manager and music connoisseur. She played classical music throughout the house while my parents taught my brother and I 80's rock and roll. My grandma managed an Opera singer, Misha Raitzin, who I was named after. He was a Tenor at the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC. There was no way I was not going to be in the music world," she adds.

With her diverse musical genre upbringing, Michelle naturally gravitated towards soul/R&B pop music. Influenced by stars like Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars, Michelle found a way to incorporate soul and pop and hone in on her own sound.

Her outstanding vocals paired with a shining personality landed the talented Ray a spot on NBC's The Voice, Team Blake, Season 4. Her voice has since been broadcasted on national commercials for Maybelline, Mastercard, JCPenny, Nickelodeon and numerous others and she's also been featured in a number of shows including Garry Marshall's "Mother's Day," Amazon Prime's "The Expanse," and Bravo's "VanderPump Rules."

Ray has spent the past year focusing on writing and recording but could often be found performing at Los Angeles venues like The Troubadour, Hotel Cafe, Peppermint Club, and more. She's also lent her theatrical talents to roles such as The Witch in "Into the Woods," Klepto in "Alanis Morissette - The Album Project: Jagged Little Pill" (touring in LA and Phoenix) as well as Alyshia in the Los Angeles production of Green Day's American Idiot.

Ray shines in new single "Chasing Shadows" with soul-bearing vocals, glittery production, and electrifying synths. Intended for late-night dance parties and summer day drives, Michelle captures the splendor and wistful energy of summer juxtaposed with the melancholy of longing for something that's no longer. Sitting on the sonic edge of dream-pop and nu-disco "Chasing Shadows" is a blast of feel-good energy and hard realizations.

On the single Ray elaborates, "'Chasing Shadows' is about thinking you can see or feel this presence everywhere you go but you can never actually hold it, it's not tangible, so is it real or just your imagination? Instagram-filtered memories and drive-in movie fantasies melt together as we imagine a love that could save us. An electric summer anthem that will shine a light when you're dancing in the dark."

The Forever Now – Reciprocals (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“The Forever now with their song "Reciprocals" deliver us a top notch sound layering minimalism, where through their solid mix and production level push all the shine out of those warm vocals and place it among the wonderful pop chill track we have listen lately.”

-Nagamag.com

At times an honest and naked statement about the end of a relationship, while others the relationship becomes a metaphor for broader statements about the world, “Reciprocals” is a bittersweet song about failing to recognize one’s own shortcomings and over-analyzing a situation rather than acting out of compassion. Beautifully mixed by Ken Andrews (m83, Nine Inch Nails, The Naked and Famous) and mastered by Randy Merrill (Adele, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga) It plays on the double meaning of the word, “is that reciprocal?” as in “do you feel the same?” and “I’ve been spending time with reciprocals” as in “I keeping looking at this as an equation”.

After 10 years of demos, this song is the professional debut for The Forever Now. The song was a true labour of love with 4 years of songwriting, 1 lifetime savings, 2 (thankfully negative) Covid tests, and 1 band break up in the making. Written and re-written, recorded and re-recorded countless times over the 4 years it took to complete the song around a master’s thesis and a full-time job, the song marks a return to form for the The Forever Now, coming back to the indie synth-pop sound of their earliest demos, while adopting a more organic sonic textures.

Vera Blue – Lie To Me (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Lie To Me by Vera Blue is a wonderful electro pop track vibes that could definately soundtrack the memories of a summer relationship. Breathy, minimalistic and with solid mix!”

-Nagamag.com

Following her smash hit “Rushing Back” with Flume, Australian electro pop powerhouse Vera Blue delivers the next exhilarating chapter with the release of her new single “Lie To Me” out now via Republic Records—listen HERE!

If the tracks on the Australian sensation’s debut album Perennial were written in the ashes of a devastating break up, then “Lie To Me” is Vera Blue (a.k.a Celia Pavey) losing her mind at the other end of the romantic spectrum—falling IN love. “Lie To Me” is anchored to a pulsating, tropical beat with a shrewd hybrid of live and electronic drums, interweaving a scattering of ominous sounding vocal samples and synths. It’s a summery dance hit with extra layers of sonic tension, as Vera Blue sings, “Would you lie to me? If I lie, would you lie? Say goodbye to me?”

Intriguingly, Vera Blue is not directing these lyrical questions at the object of her affection but at the warring voices in her own head—some validating and amplifying her panic and jealousy, the others imploring her to take hold and not destroy a good thing. Of “Lie To Me,” Vera Blue says, “When you go through a lot of emotional shit, you can’t imagine yourself in a new relationship. Then you suddenly fall into one, and the fear and mistrust can be overwhelming: ‘Is this as amazing as it seems, or is it going to blow up in my face again?’”

The song has been brought to life with Vera Blue’s producing/co-writing team of Andy and Thom Mak and engineer Jackson Barclay. Vera Blue says, “The lyrics and melodies that I wrote with Thom came from a more poetic and obscure experimental place for both of us, with Andy digging into new exciting sonic landscapes imitating the raw emotion and Jackson bringing the tones to life tracking various instruments through the amazing sounding console and outboard gear at the grove studios. This song had us all wide eyed and buzzing.”

For “Lie To Me,” Vera Blue’s extraordinary vocals are at capacity which she credits to three years of relentless live performing and projecting her voice over festival crowds. As well as her sold out headline shows, she has played Splendour in the Grass and Lollapalooza, both as a solo artist and as part of a world tour with Flume.

She says, “I recently watched some video of myself when I first started performing—my voice was so sweet and innocent! I could not have reached the belting moments at the end of ‘Lie To Me’ back then. My voice is stronger than it ever has been, which enhances what we create in the studio.”
