Matt Woosey Band – Let It Flow | WeLive Festival | Live im Schlachthof | Corona Concert (Video)

Categories: Jazz, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“A WeLive Festival release, ‘Let It Flow’ by the Matt Woosey band is a brilliant, energetic live performance by a very talented multi-piece band. Bluesy, Funky, Jazzy & at times laid back. The verse has a Doobie Brothers (Long Train Running) vibe. The guitars are superb as are the gritty solo, & soulful harmony vocals. This is a great band in ‘Full Flow.’”

The German concert film series “WeLive Festival” will release its eighth episode on May 23. A first part of the movie – the video to the song “Let It Flow” – is now released. The protagonist of the approximately 45-minute film is the musician Matt Woosey, who has already been nominated three times for the British Blues Award, with his eight-piece blues/folk formation “Matt Woosey Band.”

“It was a very special opportunity for the Matt Woosey Band to come together during Corona to do something creative and just play together again”, Matt Woosey explained after the filming. Due to the Corona pandemic, the band had not performed together on stage for over a year. Due to sanitation measures to protect against the Corona virus, the filming took place in private and without an audience in front of ten cameras. “Playing without an audience is a strange thing, but the whole team and everyone from Rockwerkstatt Lahr came together to make it a fantastic day,” Woosey thanked the organizers. “Thanks to everyone involved and the guys in the band.”

The WeLive Festival has already been releasing high-quality concert film productions featuring artists from a wide range of genres since May 2020. For example, progressive rock band Dead Venus, classical pianist Pervez Mody, singer-songwriter Dominik Büchele and heavy metal band OIL have already performed in front of the 10 to 15 cameras of the production company punchline studio. In 2020, the concert film series was awarded the German Rock&Pop Prize for the promotion of music culture. Currently, “WeLive” is also nominated for the prestigious nationwide “alternative media award”.

“Lyrical ballad built on a leisurely narrative, without unnecessary emotional choruses. Full of beautiful acoustic sounds and the most important component; the vocals. Wonderful and artistic, like a refreshing waterfall which falls on the head cooling the whole body.”

“Лирическая баллада, построенная на неторопливом повествовании, без лишних эмоциональных припевов, с красивой акустической музыкой и самым важным составляющим - вокалом. Он творит настоящие чудеса, словно освежающий град водопада падает на головы и заставляет замереть на месте.”

“Imagine yourself relaxing on a yacht, dangling your legs into the relaxingly warm sea. You are somewhere in the South of France and it feels like the late 60’s or early 70’s. Is that Bardot beside you, peering at you from under her sunglasses & sipping a long cool drink as you both listen to ‘Alba’ singing ‘Tralalas’ on the radio? The sun beats down, the wonderfully azure water gently laps around your ankles & all is good with the world. Mmm so soothing.”

THE RED is a French-born songwriter, singer and musician, whose first solo album (2020) is dedicated to American and Irish poets.

Influenced by country music as well as Irish and American folk singers, THE RED treats his music with no fixed rules which would enclose it in very definite style.

His songs are composed and arranged by himself, with no other purpose than to offer the best of themselves to the fans, and the non-fans.

While he is definitely a folk songwriter in a long tradition that gives lyrics a prominent place, his music has been already defined as indie country-folk.

“Elegant Acoustic creation based on guitar chords and melodic synth sounds. The artist describes a situation that more or less we all have experienced in our life. Have you ever felt frustrated, with no goals and future plans? Maybe lost in everyday's madness? Then, now is the time to calm down and just think about your next steps.”

The song depicts a ruminating inner monologue - it is about being discontent and struggling to find one’s path in life:

“I was feeling frustrated with myself and the world when I wrote this song; expressing these feelings in song form felt like a step towards finding some resolution.”

“An emotional, melodic spiritual folk tune with a finger-picked acoustic guitar accompaniment, a soft, hopeful main male vocal with soothing, soulful harmony vocals, & a mandolin type lead instrument. The song has a distinctive Irish ballad feel to it & will appeal to lovers of mellow music with meaningful lyrics.”

-Nagamag.com

"Here I Am" is soul searching and spiritual and can be described as a choral folk ballad with soft vocal harmonies and a soothing acoustic accompaniment. Think Nick Cave meets John Martyn with some mellow Simon and Garfunkel thrown in for good measure. The song is emotive, thought-provoking and meaningful and has echoes of a childhood influenced by church music and singing in the picturesque landscape of West Wicklow.

In addition to gathering 2 million-plus streams, it garnered plugs from Rolling Stone, Spin, and more. About Allison Ponthier

Born from the beautifully strange imagination of a wide-eyed misfit raised in the Dallas outskirts, 25-year-old Allison Ponthier’s songwriting hints at her country roots through her heart-on-sleeve storytelling and crystalline vocal work. Her lyrics whimsically portray the lucid confessions of a shy teen coming to terms with her queer sexuality in a Texas suburb much like football-obsessed town of Friday Night Lights. Ponthier’s recently released first single, “Cowboy,” from her forthcoming debut EP (Interscope Records), echoes her main mission as an artist: “A lot of my songs are about being uncomfortable in your own skin but getting to know yourself better, figuring out who you really are.”

Derek Eisel – Easy (Spotify)

“First impressions are that of a well performed, timeless classic country record that you may have heard before? Then upon closer inspection, you will discover that the narrative deals with an issue seldom discussed openly. The bitter-sweet relationship between two young men, set against an idyllic backdrop that sometimes may not feel like home sweet home.”

-Nagamag.com

Several years ago, Derek Eisel left Seattle to make his home on an island off the coast of Washington, where the farmlands are lush and the community of a mere 2000 brims with music and homemade tortillas.

Though Eisel’s debut EP, Last Resort Fire Department, is born of a man who recognizes the beauty of his life, it also explores the balance between what can be considered heaven and, of course, its counterpoint. The beauty around him becomes a backdrop as Eisel explores the emotions that unfold between two men, and the challenges and sweet reward that sometimes simultaneously exist within a relationship.

“I’m trying to share an honest point of view and not make anything up. In all the songs there’s nothing fake in terms of what they’re about and how I feel,” Eisel says of his music, a quality that allows him to paint portraits of relationships that feel immensely human. Eisel holds together at the same time the joys of being married to his husband, the pleasure of former lovers and the lived possibility that relationships can fall apart or reconfigure with little warning.

“The songs explore a feeling of ‘I want to be in this, but I also don’t want to be in this at the exact same time.’ To me, that’s a lot more accurate to how a lot of relationships feel.”

Last Resort Fire Department articulates this truth with elegance. Arresting and earnest, Eisel’s voice soars over a lush blend of guitars, strings, and pedal steel that paint something of an americana Eden, an echo of the lovely place Eisel calls home. It is fitting that this serves as the backdrop for the tumult that Eisel unfurls within his lyrics. The songs feel timeless, like classic country songs from some familiar past. Upon closer listen, however, they crackle with the brilliance of a story seldom told.

The forthcoming EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Johnny Sangster (Mudhoney, Neko Case, Mark Lanegan) at Crackle & Pop! Studios in Seattle, WA. In addition to Eisel and Sangster, it features Dan Walker (Heart), Andrew Joslyn (Courtney Marie Andrews, David Bazan), Bill Patton (Fleet Foxes), Rick Krejci, Rick Wever, and Jim Sangster.
