The electronic duo Bratři (i.e. Brothers) in their new single Running offer an image of an escape from the pandemic chaos. The twins Ondřej and Jiří Veselý used vocals for the first time, and the other ingredients are sprinkled with an accurate and effective ratio. They combine tension, techno and slightly raw straightforwardness. Run with Bratři and head off from the lockdown trap.

For the last single before the autumn release of the full album, Bratři chose a song with vocals. “Our friends from the band Teepee also have a bit of a share in Running. We did a remix for their song Parallel World and we liked their vocals so much that we also used it for Running. At the same time, we wanted to leave our sound and dance vibe,” says Jirka and Ondra adds what makes the song different from the previous singles Signal and Rise. “During the autumn lockdown, we moved to a small cottage surrounded by forests and pure nature, where we could work in peace during the week and escape a little from the stereotypes of the big city. The first motives were created here and I think that the forests and pure nature can be felt in Running.”

The whole single is shrouded in fog, which gives it a kind of tension. “We added hope and a positive mood to Running at the same time. But we are certainly influenced by the current pandemic in our work now, and this is exactly the result of the current situation. Escape, lockdown crisis and hope.”

Bratři are a new face on the Czech electronic music scene. Twins Jiří and Ondřej conceived the music project, which oscillates around a combination of catchy electronic dance, techno and ambient. The central driving forces are Jiři’s live percussion/drum beats and the melodic motives and sequences created by Ondřej on analogue and modular synthesizers, two captivating streams converging on stage in one uncompromising flow of electrifying energy.

In 2017 Bratři released their first EP Monster and followed it up in 2018 with a new single called Manual. Since their inception in 2016, Bratři have played a large number of concerts and festivals; Colours of Ostrava, Rock For People, Beseda u Bigbítu, to name but a few. They have also supported artists such as Jan Blomqvist, Rone, Chrome Sparks and in March 2019 opened for Jon Hopkins at the Forum Karlín. In April 2019 they released a single and music video called Monarch and took part in the showcase festival Tallinn Music Week, where their liveset was chosen among the TOP 10 live acts. In July 2019 Bratři played to much success at the prestigious Chateau Perché Festival in France. From September 2019 to February 2020 Bratři took part in various showcases, namely Nouvelle Prague, BUSH, MENT, and Eurosonic. In February 2020 Bratři commenced work on their debut album.

After releasing her debut single "Too Late" just last month, the multitalented LA-based DJ/producer Sam Blacky returns with her follow-up release "Body," a smoldering vocal house track that was inspired by Sam's world travels. Opening with beats that call to mind a frenzied tribal drum circle, Blacky incorporates ethereal vocals for a touch of complexity and contrast. When the deep, driving bassline kicks in, you'll be taken to a beachside set in Mexico as the sun is going down and the dancefloor is heating up. Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his upcoming album ‘Chiyu’, out March 26.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design has won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME, and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at Tokyo’s legendary Dommune.

Composed throughout 2020, ‘Chiyu’ documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concepts that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it’s often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation – however, one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I realized how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou’, Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, ‘Flight’ gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP, and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

Today, March 2nd, emerging electronic producer DEFSET unveils ‘Deadlines’, the first cut taken from upcoming album ‘Proximity’, due for release on May 28th through EMK - the new electronic music platform launched by Kartel Music Group. Stream ‘Deadlines’ here.

“Deadlines’ is about the end of days,” explains DEFSET; “writing this in my bunker when the world felt like it was ending, I guess it took on a sombre, dark tone. I was listening to a lot of Trentemøller, Apparat and other artists who lean towards the darker, cinematic, electronic spectrum. It’s dark but not without hope.”

Although new to the electronic music scene, DEFSET demonstrates mastery in delivering a deeply accomplished sonic blend of immersive techno, dub-step and atmospheric electronic music.
