GOLDHOPE – You & I (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Are you a social person or you prefer to walk alone? A song that gives emphasis to the benefits of a good company in our life. Soulful lyrics and elegant singing with alterantive electronic soundscapes. The hope we need to overcome obstacles, to keep going on and on.”

-Nagamag.com

You & I was written about the battle we often feel within ourselves, those unrelenting anxieties that can feel so alien and confusing to who we really are. It lives inside a part of your mind you don’t really understand, that doesn’t serve to help you in any way but thrives on making itself known at the most inconvenient of times, without invitation. This song is about facing that voice in your head, calling it out and realising that it does not define or control you, and knowing that you can break free from it.

GOLDHOPE are an ethereal alt-pop duo from North London comprising of members Zelah Van-Gowler and Elliot Neale. Encapsulating a distinctive blend of moody, raw and electronic soundscapes with soulful vocals and a focus on sultry, introspective lyrics, there is an all-encompassing range of human emotion and feeling to be found within the music. Prominent influences include BANKS, London Grammar and Sharon Van Etten.

The pair met whilst studying at university, with Zelah a keen writer and solo artist, and Elliot a budding lead guitarist and producer, and, having experimented with different sounds and projects of their own over the years, including their previous joint project under the name ZELAH, the two are now further refining their identity as collaborative artists in 2021 under their new name GOLDHOPE.

They are set to kickstart the year with their sophomore EP ‘Divided’ due for release in May, in the hope to build upon their previous successes in 2020 which saw them support Asgier at Shepherds Bush Empire back in February, and their debut EP ‘I’ receiving pick up from BBC Introducing in Cambridgeshire, CLASH mag and Spotify’s Alt.Pop and New Pop UK playlists.

Gilligan Moss – Special Thing (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Gilligan Moss deliver a really "special thing". Original House vibe with some disco elements. Prototype ideas carefully presented and catchy title for the majority of listeners outhere.”

-Nagamag.com

“Special Thing,” was written as an ode to our French predecessors - robots and monoliths alike. There’s something deeply hypnotic about a filtered vocal loop and chord progression, but it can sometimes feel like trying to bottle lightning. Simple songs are often the hardest, and in true collaborative fashion it’s a tune that Ben rescued from Evan’s trash pile - we’re glad he did. Grab yourself an ice cold ‘Pfizer and head down to the beach to listen to this one.

Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Unexpected trip to the past with “Mv”! An excellent oportunity for the retro-maniacs, emulating the ’80s synthesizers with inspiration from old video games. Very valuable work that brings back our nostalgic moments.”

-Nagamag.com

ABOUT THE SONG

“Your Life will never be the same” is the first single by Mv based on the cyberpunk retro-futuristic graphic novel DUSK CRISIS. It is based in the sense of hope and dreams in the midst of despairing circumstances, which encourages the listener to face its life like an adventure to live rather than a problem to sort out.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Manuel David Vasquez, also dubbed as Mv among his friends and followers, is a fantastic musician, songwriter, and artist. While he lives in Melbourne, Australia, he was born and lived a significant part of his life in Colombia. Earlier as a child, he learned to play the violin when he was hardly five years old. Later as he grew older, he learned to play guitar and piano as well. Ideally, he mastered these instruments during his teenage years. But he understood the need to transition and that it was a crucial time to bring some significant change in life to make his work known. He decided to pack up and leave Colombia and migrated to Australia .

He is also an avid reader of Sci-Fi and CyberPunk and on a lazy day. Hence, he has recently started working on a Graphic Novel, Dusk Crisis. He has also combined Synthwave music that complements the genre of the novel.

In addition to these hobbies he pursues, Mv likes to travel and visits the historic and landmarks of each country. While touring new countries, he also explores history and culture of the music and observes the contemporary shift in music trends.

Amongst his all-time favorite artists are Gloria Estefan & Miami sound machine, Al Jarreau, Giorgio Moroder, Luis Miguel, Juan Luis Guerra & 440, Vangelis, and Eros Ramazzotti. His modest personality, cheerful demeanor, soul-stirring voice, and creative music assures he has a long way to go, and he will captivate his audiences with his work.

The imaginary of DUSK CRISIS depicts the darkest environment for the main character of the story. Still, he has to endure the pain and frustration in order to accomplish his core purpose in life.

andreas owens – falling & falling (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“How many times have we felt falling? But we should realize that after a fall, we can only stand up. "falling & falling" describes the difficulty to control passions and obsessions. A meaningful song, which can give back the lost courage to move up again.”

-Nagamag.com

MARCH 19TH, 2021 – Los Angeles-based producer and singer-songwriter andreas owens releases his sophomore single, “falling & falling”, an experimental alternative pop track that samples The Millennial Club’s single, “If You Stay”, and is about our societal addiction to our phones and technology. The song follows the release of his incredibly lauded debut single, “don’t feel happy ◡̈”, which was well-received by outlets like DUMMY Mag, Substream Magazine, and We Found New Music, and landed on Spotify’s editorial playlists: Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds: Pop, and Study Break.

“falling & falling”

Though the song has a pop-inspired exterior, underneath it all shines a gutsy surge of unabashed realism. A commentary on society’s addiction to social media and the Internet, andreas owens has crafted an irresistible pop shell with a helpless, all-too-relatable core. Being at the mercy of our own desires, it reveals, on every level, our 21st century disposition to spend more time on our phones than with our friends and family.

Another major theme in the track is the idea of seeing things on our phones that we wish we hadn’t. There’s a sad truth behind the realistic and modern limits to which we can protect our souls. At the end of the day, it’s something we brought upon ourselves due to our learned obsessive nature for attention and social engagement, and while at times it can be beneficial, it too often isn’t.

QUOTES

“The concept behind ‘falling & falling’ alludes to our collective (and my own) societal addiction to our phones. I remember having a conversation with my friends about how we all kinda want to be on our phones less, but still sadly just find ourselves ‘crawling back’ to them every single day. I think we’ve all had similar thoughts, wondering, ‘omfg how is it possible that I’ve been scrolling through TikTok and Instagram for two hours?’”

“Oftentimes, while it’s enjoyable to catch up on friends’ lives and see what they’re up to, these days, I feel like half the time I don’t even like doing that anymore because I’ve created such a negative relationship with social media and the online space. The Internet is more relevant now than it’s ever been, and ‘falling & falling’ is a screenshot of my relationship with it.”

“Preethevibes with his new single - Like Flies - into VA Records/PARA Aris imprint please us once more with his solid harmonic vibes and his raucous, wide, sensural vocals.”

-Nagamag.com

Preethevibes opens this song with a cry for social justice in Dance Hall fashion. Jamaican producer Jungle Ratt partners with the group for this Dance Hall anthem against police violence and international injustice. The single is geared to hit Jamaican airwaves within the next month.

A combination of heart, mind, body & soul, Preethevibes consists of bandmates PARA, KNGLVN, JUS-Q and MILIO. The NYC based indie group emerges out of a multi-cultured melting pot of sound and visuals, combining the foundations of Jamaican Dance Hall and Ghanaian based Afrobeats with the electronic dance culture of NYC’s Lower East Side.

Their "go against the grain" attitude and defiant vocal styles create the perfect recipe for unheard, undiscovered musical patterns and ear-bending audiences.

The group continues to compose and collaborate as an independent entity, releasing projects such as their debut singles "Good Good", "Get Down" and "New Day". The four man band persists to make an impact on the independent scene as they plan the release of their debut EP.
