Black Caviar puts a cheeky spin on hustling for money with his new track “Collect Check” on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak. Featuring smooth, velvety vocals by EMIDA, this house gem opens with groovy melodies that gently meld into a deep, minimal bassline that feels right at home both on the dance floor or when listening at home. It was inspired by a relationship with financial instability, something that many people faced during the global pandemic, and the desire for success. “Collect Check” is Black Caviar’s second release on Dim Mak, after 2019’s “Alright Alright, Okay / Zonin'” EP, who has also gained industry attention with releases on Atlantic Records, Universal Music, Casablanca Records, and more. “The songwriting process was spurred from a period of financial instability. It led me to write about wanting to hustle out of that situation and aspire to a more opulent lifestyle. Multi-award-winning composer and multi-nominated songwriter, Ros Gilman began his musical journey at just five years old, as a student of the renown Gnessin Music School. A successful career as a violinist followed, which saw him perform across three continents, making multiple appearances on national TV and radio. Later, he was made second leader of the internationally esteemed European Philharmonic Orchestra.

However, a sudden hand-injury forced Gilman to give up his life as a concert musician. Having the dream of continuing to bring music to people, he fought his way back to his passion, reinventing himself as a composer, songwriter and music producer. An alumni of the famous University of Music in Vienna and the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, Gilman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Composition, a Master's Degree in Composition for Screen and a Diploma in Music Business. He has been chosen to be part of the BAFTA Crew program for emerging film talent for three consecutive years.

As a composer Ros has worked on projects in the UK, USA, Germany, France, Russia and Austria. His work has earned him the Audience Award for Best Music at the "British Animation Film Festival", the Aphrodite Film Award in New York as well as several industry nominations.

Gilman also studied conducting with J. B. Matter (previously assistant to Maestro Pierre Boulez) and later with Prof. U. Lajovic at Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Arts. As a conductor he has worked with the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra, Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra, Pro-Arte-Orchestra, Symphonisches Salonorchester Ingolstadt, Schweizerorchester Frohnleiten, Nouvelle Cuisine Big Band and others.

Ian Abel released his newest single, “All I Want Is You,” a devilish and disorienting love song just in time for the world’s #shotgirlsummer hangover.

“All I Want Is You” is a chaotic, unexpected mashup of genres and references: Abel’s sultry, soulful vocals are layered over a funk bassline, 80s synthesizers, distorted rock guitars, and background vocals inspired by Steely Dan and David Bowie... all folded into a twistingly dark synth-pop confection.

“I wanted to write something you could listen to over and over and keep discovering new sounds, layers, and meanings,” says Abel. “More than that, though, I wanted to capture the feeling of out-of-control, delusional obsession. I really relate to that feeling [chuckle].”

Underlying the track is its demented queer narrative, which is expanded upon in Abel’s irreverent DIY lyric video, where he messages the lyrics to anonymous, faceless men on the gay dating app Grindr.

“All those headless torsos on the apps are such teases,” remarked Ian. “Why not have a little fun and tease them back?”

Ian Abel (pronounced “able”) is, at the bottom of it all, a queer comic book nerd with a heart of gold. With an oh-so-smooth velvety voice and sensual, psychedelic electro-pop arrangements, he’s like if Sam Smith met Robyn or Jessie Ware met James Blake, all with a side of Peter Gabriel. He’s not just your standard indie voice.

For well over a decade, Ian has been an artist and performer. He has performed around the world and with greats like Nile Rodgers, Jimmy Fallon, and the SNL band. He has sung onstage at Carnegie Hall, on Chinese national television, and in festivals in Sun Valley, New York, and Edinburgh. Currently, Ian resides in New York City, where he hopes to get back to performing live soon.
