April 2nd, 2021|The Latest, Video, World Music|

“-Chale -! A dancing and at the same time relaxing song in which the rhythm, movement and music are skillfully combined in a single unit. Various elements of reggae, moderate pace and focus on the mix prove this song a hit!”

“-Chale!- это танцевальная и одновременно релаксационная песня, в которой ритм, танец и музыка искусно объединены в единое целое. Ритмические элементы reggae, умеренный темп и акцент на аккомпанементе сделали этот трек хитом! ”

Rosalie – Hologram Refracted (Spotify)

April 2nd, 2021|Audio, Pop, The Latest|

“Many things in life aren't as they look like. Fake images and behaviours can be almost everywhere around us. A selected song from Rosalie can help you realise this truth or probably find out your own true story. Adult Contemporary mood at its best, guided by the artist's unique ghostly-like voice!”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared few words with nagamag about this song:

"Hologram Refracted is the alt version of my latest pop single Hologram. It's strips away the electronic drums and more commercial pop dressings of the original version to put a spotlight on the singer-songwriter soul of the song. This one is a little extra special to me because it's the first track I'm releasing that I've produced myself. In a full circle moment, I made it while quarantining in my childhood bedroom. It's the same room I learned how to play guitar at 16. The room I fell in love with music. The room where I wrote my first song. And now the room where I made my self-produced release."

Jeni Schapire – Libby (Spotify)

April 2nd, 2021|Audio, Blogwave, The Latest|

“Very interesting low Bpm Dark wave release from Jeni Schapire. The track "Libby" starts with a smooth intro and goes on with some unexpected elusive vocals. Sometimes, great music appears all of a sudden, but in fact it was always present.”

-Nagamag.com

Tennessee-based Jeni Schapire shares her story through song and is ready to share the gorgeous, cinematic single "Libby." Hailing from Princeton, New Jersey, Jeni now calls Tennessee home –a fitting place for the rising artist and producer whose sound is a unique blend of folk-pop that leans into the electronic and cinematic sphere.

Jeni caught Billboard's attention with her self-produced single "Casual" (2020) from her What's In A Name EP, released last year. Billboard wrote, "There's something heart-rending about Jeni Schapire's voice as she sings...The incisive songwriting only stands to bolster Schapire's stunning vocals, as she emotes through every syllable of the heart-breaking song."

In her new self-produced single "Libby," dark, echoing synths and gorgeous reverberating vocals make you feel some type of way. "Libby" is a slow burner with understated but impactful production, which leans into a moody, cinematic space. The low-key nature of the soundscape paves a way for Jeni's beautiful words about the memories of her grandmother.

https://www.jenischapire.com/

She shares, "When I was 15, I took a flight by myself for the very first time and visited my grandparents for a magical Minnesota summer. As she aged, my grandmother lost her sight. So, during this trip I sat on their couch and read Their Eyes Were Watching God aloud to her. In the novel, the protagonist begins to discover her hopes and dreams while lying under a pear tree. When I think about my grandma, Libby, many years after she died, I come back to this memory over and over. I’ve memorized every detail of us sitting in that living room. The lyrics to 'Libby' are all those details. I wrote them down after a dream where I was back there, reading about coming of age under a pear tree. It felt so real that the song shaped itself almost immediately. And all these years later, I think of their couch as my pear tree. Helping me grow and find out who I was supposed to be."

"she emotes through every syllable of the heart-breaking song." - Billboard

"one of our favorite new discoveries this year" - Bsides & Badlands

"textured and atmospheric" - AudioFemme

"melodies that gently soar across sonic space" - Imperfect Fifth

Jeni began performing when she was 15 under the moniker, Jennifer Rae. However, she soon came to realize that name didn’t truly reflect who she was as a songwriter. To step into her authentic identity as an artist meant a reclamation of her name: Jeni Schapire. From this reflection, her EP, What's In A Name, was born. The EP was crafted out of necessity and stepping into her own identity. Jeni shares, "It's been a long journey. Like a lot of queer folks, it took a long time to even be honest with myself. Learning to embrace my queerness has been crucial to feeling like my truest self and is weaved into the storytelling in these songs."

https://jenischapire.bandcamp.com/releases

"Name is identity—an often subconscious influence into how you perceive your place in the world. So what is in a name—if it’s not yours?" she adds. "What is your place in the world—if it’s not an authentic reflection of who you really are?" As Jeni powerfully steps into her artistry, her own story, her own name, and her own identity, you are invited to do the same.

End of Code – On to You (Video)

April 1st, 2021|House, The Latest, Video|

“We need unity of body and soul to plunge headlong into something integral and spiritual. The track -On to You- can push us to our unthinkable limit boundaries. This is something incredible. The core of this work is the electronics, modestly reminding that this is our time, this is our music.”

“Каждый так или иначе окунаясь с головой в нечто цельное и духовное хочет единства души и тела. Трек -On to You- раздвигает все немыслимые границы. Это что-то невероятное. Фабула этого произведения скромно напоминая нам – это электроника, это наше время, это наша музыка.”

-Nagamag.com

On to you takes you on a musical journey created by Nicolas Saad’s mesmerizing piano and Shawn’s vocal finds a way to ride that melody. Together they transport you to a deep reflective musical state.

The imagery of ON TO YOU demanded something special and Thomas Concordia and Rainer Hosch did not disappoint . These 2 incredible visual artists have a pedigree ranging from Valentino to Nespresso. Their vision captivates and captures the pure essence Nico and Shawn intended and allows you to truly feel the energy of ON TO YOU…

The song travels through the weight of your mentality when you know you didn’t win didn’t create it didn’t play fair and someone else suffered for your actions .. you may feel like the king or Queen initially but soon you will be the pawn . You will not get the gold but rather slip into the fold . Your kingdom will be full of nothing and your power will be removed at every level .. if you have every tried to fake something you understand and if you haven’t you will know why you shouldn’t .. This is ON TO YOU !!!

Maria Grönlund Interview on Nagamag

Maria Grönlund Interview on Nagamag

.

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Maria Grönlund:
Neo-Classical, Modern Classical, Contemporary Classical

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Maria Grönlund:
You may know Stockholm’s Maria Gronlund from her weekly live stream ‘Meet Me At The Piano’ on Facebook. Or from her debut album ‘Songs of a Sad Sailor’, which was a Spotify Classical Pick. Or even from her short collection last Autumn called ‘Colors of my Mind: Pt. 1’, which was the first of three releases that will go to make up her next LP ‘Colors of my Mind’. Part 2 of the collection is nearly upon us with three pieces of neo-classical imagination due later this month.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Maria Grönlund:
There was a lot of music and singing in my family, and I was five or six years old when we inherited a big, black, shiny piano from my grandfather. My mother had always dreamed of learning how to play the piano, and she found us an Austrian piano teacher named Helga, who taught us both to play in her house. I was tiny, and I got my lessons at a brown piano in her basement, and then I stood and peeked into the living room with the two grand pianos standing opposite each other, while my mom got her lesson. I was totally fascinated by the instruments and imagined they were like fairy tale ships to another world, since they gave out such amazing sound. I've been in love with the piano ever since.

Nagamag:
Tell us more about the project you're working on right now!

Maria Grönlund:
I'm in the midst of a project called 'Colors of my mind', which will culminate in a full album released both digitally and physically, and with an online album experience which will feature the creation process of the music and all the art involved. Artwork merch will also be an important part of this project.
It all originates from a lengthy, filmed joint improvisation I made together with an artist, Madelene Egerfält, where she painted what she heard me play and i played what I saw her paint. We both came into a state of flow and had a really intense experience. The painting is just amazing, and I feel it depicts both her and me, and the situation it was created in.

I've used the musical material from this occasion and built it out to ten piano pieces that I release in three rounds. EP Colors of my mind Pt.1 was released in the late fall, Pt.2 now in March, and Pt.3 and thus the full album is planned for late spring/early summer this year.

Nagamag:
What's the ethos behind your music?

Maria Grönlund:
I feel so rich having music in my life. It helps me cope with stress and difficulties. I often play to calm myself down and to sort my thoughts and feelings out. My vision is to share the feeling of relief and joy I get from playing with people who might need it.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Maria Grönlund:
Imogen Heap "Earth"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Maria Grönlund:
Poppy Ackroyd "Time"

Bratři – Running (official video) (Video)

April 1st, 2021|Techno, The Latest, Video|

“Feel the speed of Bpm conquering your body and your heart beat accelerating from these Techno sound reefs. The exlposive mix from Bratři is already blasting out from your sound system or at least keeps you company while rushing for your daily duties.”

-Nagamag.com

The electronic duo Bratři (i.e. Brothers) in their new single Running offer an image of an escape from the pandemic chaos. The twins Ondřej and Jiří Veselý used vocals for the first time, and the other ingredients are sprinkled with an accurate and effective ratio. They combine tension, techno and slightly raw straightforwardness. Run with Bratři and head off from the lockdown trap.

Multilink: https://bit.ly/runningTUNE

For the last single before the autumn release of the full album, Bratři chose a song with vocals. “Our friends from the band Teepee also have a bit of a share in Running. We did a remix for their song Parallel World and we liked their vocals so much that we also used it for Running. At the same time, we wanted to leave our sound and dance vibe,” says Jirka and Ondra adds what makes the song different from the previous singles Signal and Rise. “During the autumn lockdown, we moved to a small cottage surrounded by forests and pure nature, where we could work in peace during the week and escape a little from the stereotypes of the big city. The first motives were created here and I think that the forests and pure nature can be felt in Running.”

Video: https://youtu.be/kLSmFlNJ9Bw

The whole single is shrouded in fog, which gives it a kind of tension. “We added hope and a positive mood to Running at the same time. But we are certainly influenced by the current pandemic in our work now, and this is exactly the result of the current situation. Escape, lockdown crisis and hope.”

https://www.instagram.com/bratri_official/

Bratři are a new face on the Czech electronic music scene. Twins Jiří and Ondřej conceived the music project, which oscillates around a combination of catchy electronic dance, techno and ambient. The central driving forces are Jiři’s live percussion/drum beats and the melodic motives and sequences created by Ondřej on analogue and modular synthesizers, two captivating streams converging on stage in one uncompromising flow of electrifying energy.

In 2017 Bratři released their first EP Monster and followed it up in 2018 with a new single called Manual. Since their inception in 2016, Bratři have played a large number of concerts and festivals; Colours of Ostrava, Rock For People, Beseda u Bigbítu, to name but a few. They have also supported artists such as Jan Blomqvist, Rone, Chrome Sparks and in March 2019 opened for Jon Hopkins at the Forum Karlín. In April 2019 they released a single and music video called Monarch and took part in the showcase festival Tallinn Music Week, where their liveset was chosen among the TOP 10 live acts. In July 2019 Bratři played to much success at the prestigious Chateau Perché Festival in France. From September 2019 to February 2020 Bratři took part in various showcases, namely Nouvelle Prague, BUSH, MENT, and Eurosonic. In February 2020 Bratři commenced work on their debut album.

April 1st, 2021|The Latest, Video, World Music|

“-Ramiro Pinheiro- music can be considered refined and elegant. The rhythm of the composition -Nasceu Pra Navegar- manifests itself in the melody and the accompaniment.
