The roots of the song came about at the start of the pandemic as Hayes was jamming with a friend.

“We were playing around with different arpeggios and different delay effects on my Moog Sub 37,” John reflects. “More just experimenting than anything else... I finally came across something that I quite enjoyed and decided, ‘why not record this?’ For a long time, it just existed as this arpeggio you hear playing throughout the song. I would revisit it here and there but never had any plans to do much. I really enjoyed it existing as just this private little piece that I could revisit here and there. Once the pandemic hit, I had a lot of time on my hands, and I decided to elaborate on it a bit. I started to add layers on my Minilogue [synthesizer] that I though emulated strings. I wanted it to be this blend where you can’t tell exactly what is artificial and what is real. This idea of the artificial world online that we dive into each day and the real world that is right out of our window being blended became something that I started to think about quite a bit. This song started to take on that form as I continued to tinker with it. I wanted there to be a blend where it becomes hard to tell where the synthesizers and the real strings begin and end, all while this arpeggio keeps dancing in the background. The artificial world and real-world meeting in music, and shaking hands."

Prospector Sound – Laguna

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“When we travel the stars and explore exoplanets of foreign words this shall be the soundtrack. Solft melodic spaced-out sounds with much timbral complexity. Its harmonious tomes drove us to space out at our desk, this is how its done. ”

-Nagamag.com

Prospector Sound is the alter-ego of Manchester musician Richard Talbot, who is most well known as a founding member of Marconi Union. The music largely eschews rhythm and places a heavy emphasis on evocative atmospherics -- these can be warm, dark or mysterious or sometimes all of these things at the same time. One consistent feature of Prospector Sound music is its organic quality often emphasized by the employment of processed found sound and field recordings. The tracks are both warm and simultaneously eerie. Lush synth parts co-exist with distant unsettling bumps and clanks derived from treated field recordings.

New track "Laguna", out today, carries the listener across a spectrum of ambient electronics, punctuated by dots of texture that constantly enrich throughout. It's a fitting snapshot into the world of Prospector Sound.

New album Red Sargasso is out April 29th release via The Ambient Zone.

STEREOV – Birds in Rain (Video)

Categories: Electronica, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Breaking beat, pulsating bass and unexpected flow in a track that strikes like thunder, disturbing every lazy mind. Glitch style, full of creativity and unique energy as “STEREOV” knows. Presented with a highly artistic clip which you should watch too!”

-Nagamag.com

Artist said about this song:

“I wrote my first songs in FL Studio but switched to Ableton Live a long time ago. To bring a slightly different sound to the album, I wanted to work with FL again. The different workflow always results in a different sound for me and I inevitably use different tricks.

I based the style of “Birds in Rain” on my older song “We”, maybe with a bit more glitch. But this time with a rap part of the vocoder voice. I already had the melody from the intro in my head before I started writing the song.

I wanted to avoid a long intro and wanted an unexpected hard drop at the beginning. Then the vocals start right away. The lyrics are about a very strong character fighting against others and himself. The charcter is at a difficult point in its life. To get on, the character has to suffer. She feels like a bird in the rain. There is no way out but to fly into the protective burrow despite the hammering beats of the raindrops. It has no other option.

The verses are basically just some drums and the voice layered with the bass. Again a little unexpectedly then comes the main melody. To make it even more unexpected, I even changed the key from E minor to A minor. After a short bridge the voice comes again with a chord change. That was based on the lyrics – there the song goes into a more hopeful direction. After the second verse there is another short bridge and we come back to the main melody. Afterwards I teased a ska part, but then come to pure glitch at the end.”
