Gustav Hoyer – Innocence (Spotify)

“Crystal clear, airy, soft and magical orchestra sounds from another world, directly revealed from a real master. An epic Cinematic mix with targeted up and downs and excellent transitions. We consider "Innocence" among the pieces you should never miss.”

-Nagamag.com

Gustav Hoyer, a Colorado-based classical composer, has interest in both classical music and technology. This combination has created a lifelong journey for both Gustav and his listeners. Founder of the Los Angeles-based Orchestra Unleashed, Hoyer has built a growing discography available for any person aiming to be transcended into an almost-cinematic universe.

His latest release, “Innocence” is the follow up to his glorious track “Adventure at Sea,” which made waves.

His abundance of strings in the song allows for the listener to be immediately captured by the story of the piece. The piece goes on to be a dynamic story, with beautiful themes and powerful horns. This piece immediately reminds me of Alexandre Desplat or Alan Silvestri, two composers known for creating an entire universe within their works.

His recorded music has been heard in film, on radio and in performances worldwide. He founded and directed the Los Angeles-based Orchestra Unleashed, dazzling audiences with a series of multimedia orchestral performances that reimagined the typical classical concert. Concurrently, Hoyer produced the original soundtrack for critically acclaimed stage epic “Acts, the Three Man Show.” His most recent album, “The Gilded Age,” included The Steampunk Serenade for a 40-piece string orchestra. Gustav Hoyer’s journey to become a classical music composer was certainly not scripted.

“The Listening” is a choral piece inspired by a 1967 MLK speech (“Beyond Vietnam: A Time To Break Silence”) and features MLK’s goddaughter, Donzaleigh Abernathy. The piece is a call to act, to listen, and to speak for the unheard voices. The song will be featured on People.com, in Harper’s Bazar, and several radio stations and media outlets who have interviewed Donzaleigh about it. We are doing a strong promotional push during Black History Month. More info at www.cbemusic.co/thelistening.

Sophie Hutchings – Not Alone (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Have you ever thought about how often you enrich your soul classic works? If your soul feels lonely and cold, give a listen to this new song Not Alone by Sophie Hutchings and your heart will light up and get warmed. ”

“Вы задумывались о том, как часто вы обогащаете свою душу классическими произведениями? Если она одинока и холодна, подарите ей пару минут новой композиции Not Alone от Sophie Hutchings и в вашем сердце станет ещё больше света и тепла.”

-Nagamag.com

Sophie Hutchings is an Australian composer who thrives in the outdoors, amidst the calm and sometimes chaotic nature of the ocean. Her new single, Not Alone, is her first release of 2021 and the principal segment from her upcoming Love & Keep EP. Not Alone is a soft inward reflection, a beautifully comforting effort that looks at the longevity and significance of friendships in times of uncertainty and struggle.

Instead of leaning towards the (arguably) traditional outlets of a teenager, Sophie grew up organically drawing on the mindful, meditative benefits of the ocean. It then came naturally to Sophie to weave elements of this medicinal effect through her work. When she wasn’t riding the waves, or absorbing the changing scenes of the horizon, Sophie was thrown into her Father’s vast jazz collection or her older brothers’ and their love of heavy indie rock unless he found her own, unique, soundscape.

Although creating, crafting and tweaking her music comes naturally, Sophie prefers to work internally, immersing herself in sound, rather than launching herself into the world of the stage. Her piano-led music has been described by The Guardian as holding “an intimate contemplative quality; sometimes melancholic, often with an exhilarating beauty.” Having amassed over 80 million streams on Spotify alone, Sophie has crafted her trademark sound and has collected accolades that include a nomination for …., a play on Jorja Smith’s most recent Tearjerker podcast as well as heavy support from 6 Music in the UK and ABC in her home country, Australia.

Love & Keep is a body of work that exposes a journey of connection, embracing the unpredictable, sometimes volatile, nature of the world, and how sleep is fundamentally intertwined in everything we do. Recorded in the dead of night, this six-track EP looks at the sometimes expanse of sleep as a quiet, reflective beauty, through the unique lens of the insomniac, Sophie. Not Alone specifically is a single that calls to the bigger picture. It’s a confession that even as an introvert, in times of enforced isolation, one recognises a need for those around you. Sophie’s creation holds a reminiscent feeling, a longing for the support of your loved ones, rather than another soulless, endless, scroll through the social universe.

This melancholic piano track has the vibe of heartbreak.
The ambiance of this piece represents letting go of something of value or a loved one.
It's a necessary decision that you put off too long, but now ready to be at peace with.
There is hope in the future. No matter how much it hurts right now, it's for the best.

Florejan Verschueren – Where Days End (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“There is such an expression - an amazing one. Joseph Shabason and his composition The Fellowship directly refers to him. An unpretentious, light and madly soulful work.”

“Есть такое выражение - удивительное рядом. Joseph Shabason и его композиция The Fellowship непосредственно относится к нему. Незатейливое, лёгкое и до безумия душевное произведение.”

-Nagamag.com

Florejan Verschueren (°1978) lives in Belgium together with his wife and their four children. He has been passionate about music ever since he was knee-high to a grashopper, and has been roaming the city and Belgium with numerous musical projects, in different styles.

At home he finds peace in his music room. The grand piano - a gift from his granddad to his father - adds a dash of grandeur to the room. This is Florejan’s musical sanctuary, a place that allows him to submerge himself into reverie. The trees outside follow the rhythm of the seasons, and set the pace at which Florejan composes new music. Harmony and balance. This has led to 'Piano Piano', an album that embraces rest and contemplation. It is process of growth, part of the cycle of life. It should not surprise anyone that the working title for 'Piano Piano' was 'WINTER', a season that breathes resourcing and reflection.

Florejan has stripped every composition to the bone, to the bare essence of the song. It has been an exercise in letting go and a quest for finding beauty and purity. Seemingly easy listening, the melodies conceal a profound richness. Each song is a trip, telling a story with many layers.

Who else but illustrator Sassafras De Bruyn could provide this album with the right images? It was a match made in heaven: beautiful drawings as a perfect answer to the multi-layered music.

'Piano Piano' is a very personal record and shows a part of Florejan that not many people have already discovered. The album will be released end of november 2019

Joseph Shabason – “The Fellowship” (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Beautiful presentation of Joseph Shabason’s awaited work. Ambient & Drone tune to travel us through the dark cold February days, towards the arrival of Spring light. The warm company of many listeners out there.”

-Nagamag.com

Toronto-based Destroyer-collaborator Joseph Shabason is behind past releases Anne (2018) and Aytche (2017), as well as last year’s Shabason/Krgovich/Harris album Philadelphia — all of which received deserved acclaim. His empathetic style manifests itself in a unique stylistic blend of ambient electronics and new-age driven jazz.

On his new album The Fellowship out April 30th on Western Vinyl/Telephone Explosion Records, he sketches an auditory map of the transcendence, unity, conditioning, and eventual renunciation of his upbringing in an Islamic and Jewish dual-faith household across eight tracks that mesh spacious, jazz-laced composition with fourth-world and adult-contemporary tonality. As a listening experience, it’s an autobiography and in the form of instrumental music.

New single and album title track “The Fellowship” is out today. It’s a mystical ambient journey down winding city roads, with Shabason’s layered saxophone providing bright sprites behind each turn.

ÜUCE – Whiteout (feat. Michele) // Ambient, Trance Piano, Psybient, Relaxing (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“”Whiteout” is an Ambient piece perfectly made for the cold Winter days. There is nothing better than a warm, relaxing piano sound while snowing outside. A special experience even for the most selective listeners.”

-Nagamag.com

The felt piano was given a lush sound by adding a tape delay and and putting a very wet reverb on the delay. My wife, Michele, vocalized throughout the song and that was also modulated. The various sound waves and walls were created using a KORG MicroKORG and a KORG Minilogue.

“Удивительно, насколько работа Svvn богата многослойными звуковыми текстурами. Мелодия поглощает, ритмические элементы во второй половине трека будоражат фантазию и перед глазами стелятся бескрайние пейзажи невиданных красот.”

-Nagamag.com

Vega Falling is the third single from the two-part space-themed EP series, Astronomica. At the end of 2019, I spent six weeks in Costa Rica with my wife. I had traveled for mostof the year, and I was excited to spend the final days of December in a tropical paradise. There was almost no light pollution where we were staying. There weren't anystreetlights, storefronts, or restaurants that were open after dark. This meant that once the sun went down, we were inside, making dinner and washing the sand off our feet. I had a small concrete table next to the kitchen with my studio gear setup, and I would look out the skylight in the living room to see the light from the moon and stars pouring in. It wasn't hard to imagine that we were living on a distant planet, all by ourselves. It was both terrifying and comforting. This song is meant to feel like a journey to the shores of another habitable earth beyond our realm. The sound of the ocean waves at the beginning of the song was recorded on my iPhone. I captured the audio during one of our daily walks, and it still makes me feel like I'm looking out at an infinite abyss where the ocean and the sky become one.
