A quiet sunday night of a long weekend, Gregory Paul Mineeff sits on his favorite felted piano, full of emotions and energy to express, filtering them out of his hands to the keys and transforming them into a deep nostalgic cinematic theme.

Phases is the second solo album of Lumiere, aka Greek musician Thanos Christodoulou. It is an invitation to an atmospheric trip of the heart and the mind towards dream-made images and memories of the future. Using the piano as the core instrument and combining post-classical elements with electronic structures, minimalism, and modern jazz, Lumiere’s aim was to create moving cinematic music that grips the listener and becomes the exciting soundtrack of modern daydreamers.
It’s fitting then that the name “Lumiere” is a reference to the french city of Lyon, the hometown of the Louis Lumiere and his brother, who are widely credited with inventing the art of cinematography and the first motion picture camera. Thanos spent a couple of years studying Physics in Lyon, where he also began composing his first solo pieces.
Phases is set for a September 18th release, with the propulsive, Hauschka-esque first single “Doppler” leading thew way with a video directed by Theo Tagholm, a London-based artist who created the video “playing” with real images of the world and “breaking” the observer’s experience into slices of space and time, redefining every moment (and the sense of time) as a repetitive wave.

Jacob Trautner with his 3rd single on short story series, The Boat, deliver us a minimal peaceful solo piano which he shared with us few words behind his inspiration "I had this picture of me lying on an old wooden boat on the sea, rocking gently on the waves and just staring at the sky, and letting my thoughts wander. Looking for answers but in a relaxed way. The sky is endless potential, the water is the depth of your mind, and the boat the gate, that connects you to it all. "
The melody is introduced by the baglama (Turkish Saz). Along with the ethnic kamancheh strings the composition is driven forward by a self-customized domestic drum kit consisting of pots, pans, a singing bowl and a water jug. In an odd-time minimalistic arrangement Desert Secrets rises into a dramatic crescendo.
'Desert Secrets' is made for a scene in the animated show 'Aetherreach' (currently in development), where our two protagonists travel through drought desert villages and toxic wastelands searching a cure for the plagued lands.
It's partly inspired by the soundtrack for Jim Jarmusch's movie 'Only Lovers Left Alive'.

It encapsulates the ethnic middle eastern setting in a science-fantasy universe with advanced robotic technology.
With organic drums and ethnic instruments such as kamancheh and duduk, the song progresses in odd time ostinatos into a crescendo of a cinematic action-packed climax.

This modern classical harp track enchants with a dreamlike flow. “Tableaux” are pictures in one’s mind that evoke a vision expressed through a musical concept. I’m inspired by Rachmaninoff’s Etudes of the same title and aimed to capture Romantic era elements with a contemporary approach.
