Sam Newton – Ground Me (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Ground Me is a pleasant and so charming, acoustic melancholy into which you dive headlong, as if into the abyss of a blue ocean. And you drown in it and sink to the very bottom of it. Elegy of feelings and events.”

“Ground Me – приятная и такая очаровательная, акустическая меланхолия, в которую ныряешь с головой, словно в бездну синего океана. И тонешь в нём и опускаешься на самое дно его. Элегия чувств и событий.”

Artist shared about this song:

” This is a true story about a pivotal moment in my life. When I was 4 years old, my Dad and I build a rocket from old cardboard boxes and tape. I sat in it cross-legged on the floor and put on my Dad’s huge headphones. He dropped the vinyl of the “2001: A Space Odyssey” soundtrack – this was the first time I’d heard music on headphones – amazing…it blew me away!! I shut my eyes and was transported to another world! I believe that was the moment I decided I wanted to be a composer…that feeling of wonder and passion has never left me. “

Aidan u0026 the Wild – Running (Video)

“Defeatably, how vile and careless music becomes. If you do not know the words of Aidan & the Wild and do not listen to the song Running until that day, close this page, try to find it and enjoy it for a second.”

“Поразительно, как порою легка и беззаботна бывает музыка. Если вы ещё не знакомы с Aidan & the Wild и до этого дня не слышали песню Running, то закрывайте эту страницу, устраивайтесь по уютнее и наслаждайтесь каждой секундой.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared with us few words about this song:

Running is the first single of of my debut album “Revelation Never Came”, that releases October 8th 2021. The album (and this song) was recorded during the lock-down period of mid 2020, during which I took it upon myself to do the production and play all instruments except drums and bass on the record.

I wrote this song last March at the start of this crisis. At that point it still partly felt surreal and I couldn’t help but think about the weirdness of this world. Change came so suddenly and there was nothing to do about it.

After a bit of lockdown I started feeling a bit sore because of lack of activity, so I decided to buy these sneakers and start running in the morning. *Note that I previously regarded sports as not for me, since I’d prefer to spend that time making music*. This song has become a discription of that first run after six years of no real exercise, and the rapidly changing world that forced this event.

Taking a cue from heroes such as Ben Howard, John Butler, John Smith and the Tallest Man On Earth and a profound love for ancient myths and stories about lost times come together in the distinct sound of Aidan & the Wild’s music.

Aidan, a.k.a. Diederik van den Brandt, takes his listeners away on a musical journey through his interpretation of folk and americana music. Spending most of his days practicing his instruments results in a singer-songwriter who clearly knows his way around the guitar. Open-tuning finger picking alternated with slide and percussive style techniques produce a saturated and captivating sound. The big blueprint of his songwriting is folk music, but within the spectrum all corners are explored. From groovy americana and uplifting songs about Jesus to enchanting melodies that transport the listener to another world, from personal stories about love to epic works about myths and dragons. Combined with his raw and honest voice and occasional foot percussion he delivers a one-man show that keeps captivating every second along the way as well as an energetic and enchanting performance backed up by his band.

Drew William – Man Makes His Borders (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Drew William delivers a new ep, called ROOM under MyRoomStudios imprint. We picked -Man Makes His Borders- as we attached quickly to the soft harmonica and nostalgic, yet freedom vibes it sets to the listener. A soulful song.”

-Nagamag.com

“These songs are all little views of this long drive of life.”

Words have never spoken as much truth for Drew William, a fairly new singer-songwriter that has a special talent of conveying cathartic emotion in every one of his tracks.

Taking this notion to heart, the opening track of William’s "Room" EP “Moonlight,” begins with the roar of an engine and an upbeat chord progression that quickly grabs the listener. Soon after William sings about finding a place away from all the noise of the world.

“That moment where everything feels like it’s on the back burner; wheels off the ground, floating toward that big white moon, all the world growing quiet behind,” William says.

The song is a feel-good anthem that offers lyrical content that is just reflective enough to feel raw and personal—the perfect opener to “Room.”

Next comes “Heal” another reflective tune about learning the lesson that healing comes in strange ways. The song quietly makes its appearance with a tasty finger-picked riff, having just the right amount of guitar effects to make the instrumentation seem all-encompassing, but intimate.

Looking back at this past year—rife with a pandemic and more political and ecological problems than ever imagined—”Heal” is a universal message that anyone can get behind.

“Accepting the hurt is a huge part, and making sure the wound is being cared for so healing can begin. I hope this song can remind us of that,” William adds.

To end is “Man Makes His Borders,” a track that sounds like an indie-pop Bob Dylan—featuring a beautiful harmonica and melody that bleeds feeling with its Americana folk flare. William muses about railroad tracks, fame—an aspect that William knows all too well from his CFL background—and the illusions of everyday life. It’s probably William’s most personal track to date and it and leaves you wanting more.

Drew William also known in the CFL Football world by his full name, Drew Wolitarsky, dived headfirst into music after his football career as a wide receiver for the Winnipeg Bluebombers was put on hold due to COVID-19.

While he was playing football, Drew played in restaurants and coffee shops—events that may seem unreal nowadays. He has been writing his entire life and with his newfound love for music, his creations have taken on a livelier body.

Chelsea Lovitt – “STATE OF DENIAL” OFFICIAL VIDEO (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Well this is an absolutely elegant song with 100% natural instrument mix. Excellent overall result, which cannot hide the artist’s professional skill. We are not used to such an experience and even this voice can become unforgetable!”

-Nagamag.com

On the new video:

Mississippi-bred, Nashville-based artist Chelsea Lovitt has a familiar 2020 tale – and has a video she wants to release around Valentine’s Day for her song “State Of Denial.” There’s a pretty funny story here…”State Of Denial” is about being distanced from loved ones when you’re a touring artist, and the message still applies since distance is mandated and viruses are in the way.

Chelsea got a great deal from video guru Joshua Shoemaker (Nicole Atkins, Marcus King Band, Vanessa Carlton, and more), to shoot the music video for “State Of Denial” – he filmed her while she drove her band van around Nashville delivering flowers, making people happy while she’s singing about being separated from her loved ones. Then, two weeks before lockdown, Chelsea put out an album in what was supposed to be “her year,” with a tour planned that had to be canceled, like so many other artists. To add fuel to the dumpster fire that was 2020, Chelsea had arranged to sell her rustbucket van to help pay for this music video. On the way to the airport to meet the guy who’d bought it from her (who had flown in to drive back to his home state), it died. For good.

Chelsea Lovitt’s music is a fantastic blend of sass, swagger, and hip-shaking defiance..rock n’ roll and rockabilly, psychedelic country with the underlying lyrical rebellion of 60s folk. Every song on her latest record, You Had Your Cake, So Lie In It, is a sparkling gem – whether it’s sifting through the emotional storage facility of emerging adulthood or red wine-fueled philosophizing, Lovitt’s got the goods, and she’s got it in spades.

Quote from Chelsea:

I wrote this song on a harmonica in a field in Delaware the month before going in the studio. It was 5 in the morning and I’d been listening to Dylan. I had ambitions and ideas for this record to be influenced by Blonde on Blonde of course, and since we were doing it on tape and in Nashville I’d been listening to that and Nashville Skyline obsessively. I wrote this when I was in love, after not ever really being in it. It examines psychological issues that maybe stem from being from Mississippi because for some reason we’re prone to be emotional hoarders and it’s hard to “sift through that pile” when it comes to letting go and living in the moment or especially being in love. The song reflects on what wasn’t love and what is and why sometimes it’s a bittersweet “can’t be,” because distance and/or your own neuroses get in the way.

Now distance is mandated and viruses are in the way.

And it’s kind of like the predicament we have on Valentines this year when we have to socially distance ourselves and a lot of lovers can’t be together, and maybe this year has been a soul distancing folks like me have actually needed to figure out and “sift through” our own internal crap and be better people. When else could we have done that in this fast-paced world? It’s also been a test of what it means to really love somebody, especially when you can’t physically be with them.

STATE OF DENIAL

Well I wasnʼt quite ready to live

I wasnʼt quite ready to live,

I wasnʼt quite ready to give,

You a try.

And I ainʼt never been ready to sift

Through that pile.

Cause baby I was born in a state that dug the ditch for denial.

I wasnʼt quite natural to give,

I wasnʼt quite certain Iʼd leave

or care if I died

But now Iʼd pay for your time if cost me every nickel or dime.

And I ainʼt never been ready to sift

Through that pile,

Cause baby I was born in a state that dug the ditch for denial.

I didnʼt cry cause I missed you

Itʼs cause I knew youʼd hurt me when youʼre gone.

When I have you in my arms it seems youʼd never cause any harm.

Baby I know you love me but your heart gets harder when your far.

And I ainʼt never been ready to sift,

Through that pile.

Cause baby I was born in a state that dug the ditch for denial.

Instrumental

Buy a house for a hundred dollars

50/50 make some kinda start.

For the first time Iʼd plant flowers and have some kinda yard.

But whatʼs in paying taxes on land when youʼre both so far?

And I ainʼt never been ready to sift,

Through that pile.

Cause baby I was born in a state that dug the ditch for denial,

Yeah baby I was born in a state that dug the ditch for denial.

Henriette – Never Go Back (Spotify)

“Never Go Back performed by the magnificent Henriette - a journey to the amazing land of her dreams. A very cheerful song that lifts everyone who is lost in the abyss of the problems surrounding him from his knees.”

“Never Go Back в исполнение великолепной Henriette - путешествие в удивительную страну её грёз. Весьма жизнерадостная песня, которая поднимает с колен каждого, кто потерялся в пучине окруживших его проблем.”

-Nagamag.com

One of the greatest moments we all know, is the very first kiss with a person you love.

So it doesn’t come as a surprise how many songs dedicate themselves to this

„once in a relationship experience“.

But there’s something even more special, something that deserves a lot more attention- and that’s the moment right BEFORE the very first kiss.

The moment when seconds turn into hours, make us fall and fly at the same time, our world is spinning faster but also standing completely still.

Butterflies, rainbows, fireworks, angels choirs, dry lips, shaking hands, high pulse- it’s all there.

A crackling tension lies in the air- a tension that, sometimes, we can not handle.

So we rush trough it, skip the spark and go straight to the fire, pass over the uniqueness this moment holds.

With „Never go back“ HENRIETTE invites us to dive deep into the joy of anticipation,

to „slow down and take it in cause we’ll never be here again“.

Don’t push forward, cause there is no rewind.

HENRIETTE lights up the dark season with three new emotional Country Pop singles

With her Country Pop, which can be quiet as a breeze and fiery as the sun, HENRIETTE managed to make a mark directly in the scene. After her debut single “Dream Boy” went on rotation in countless countries on three continents, the vocalist up the ante with her singles “Lighthouse” and “Crash Like This” and finally made a more than successful start with her self-titled debut EP. Music Row magazine described HENRIETTE’s music as «a trip to a beautiful country» and even the famous British Maverick magazine called her EP «a promising debut» and nominated “Dream Boy” as one of the top 12 songs of the summer. Now, in the middle of the global pandemic, which she experiences as a creatively enriching time against all odds, the Berliner-by-choice announces her three new singles “Remember That”, “Never Go Back” and “Masterpiece”, which will be released this winter, just like the debut, via Dr. Music Records.

Numerous new songs have been written in the past months, some of them in video sessions across the ocean with songwriters from Nashville, but many of them also all alone, in an intimate lockdown atmosphere in her loft in Berlin. HENRIETTE does what she’s best at, music. Telling stories, reminisce, put the heard on paper and turn it into songs she hopes will touch and enrich others. This way, she continues to pave her way despite all the changes. The picture that the musician painted with her debut EP has now become noticeably more mature, more colorful and emotionally more courageous. The new songs expand the musical range, show previously undiscovered facets, dive deeper into her soul and take the listener on a journey into the American vastness, only to finally settle down again in his own heart. At the beginning of the Christmas season, on December 2nd, 2020, HENRIETTE starts her new cycle with the acoustic single “Remember That”, probably her most personal song so far. The emotionally melancholic homage is dedicated to her late father, who passed away on Christmas 2017. His musical affinity inspired the vocalist since childhood and ultimately led her to study music in Leipzig. The second single is about one of the greatest moments we all know, the very first kiss with someone you fell in love with. But there’s one more thing that deserves a lot more attention, and that’s the moment right before the very first kiss. Seconds seem like hours, in which the emotions are on a rollercoaster and in which the world seems to stand still. Butterflies, rainbows, fireworks, angelic choirs, high pulse, trembling hands, it’s all there. A crackling tension lies in the air. But we often can’t endure it, can’t withstand the intense gaze and we rush through this feeling and miss this special moment. With “Never Go Back” HENRIETTE invites us to dive deep into this joy of anticipation, to enjoy the moment and consciously perceive it, because it is unique and will never return in this form. If there’s one song that represents how much the singer has musically grown during the last year, it is definitely “Masterpiece”. Inspired by a bullying experience, it is both a confession of love to herself as well as a deep insight into the emotional path she has taken so far. The lyrics are honest and warm-hearted, the music sounds pure with a near majestic touch, the feeling is like a journey to the center of her emotions. Just because someone carries sunshine on his face doesn’t mean that he has never seen the rain. On the contrary, many brushstrokes have to be painted before a masterpiece can be created.

HENRIETTE managed to attract attention in a pretty short time with her cheerful, honest character and especially her great voice and not only to breathe new life into the Country scene as well as to gain new fans. With the new singles “Remember That”, “Never Go Back” and “Masterpiece”, she now provides new momentum and shows that really great atmospheric Country Pop can bring a happy smile to your face, even in the biggest crisis.

Listen to the new single Julie Title - A Wreath to Lay to this, her creation is a prime example.”

The Ghosts of Liberty – Daddy’s Daughter (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Emma Millard's deep, rich lead vocals, Tyler Millard's mesmerizing folk-rock, blues and soul music. An excellent and original duo The Ghosts of Liberty in their genre.”

“Глубокий, насыщенный лидирующий вокал Emma Millard, завораживающий фолк-рок Tyler Millard, нотки блюза и соул музыки. Великолепный и оригинальный дуэт The Ghosts of Liberty в своём жанре.”

-Nagamag.com

Dark and moody, Daddy's Daughter is an anthemic warning song to any groom out there who would even consider leaving his bride at the altar. A blistering female vocal features plenty of tongue-in-cheek reasons not to mess with a daddy's girl on her wedding day. Accompanying the vocal are acoustic guitars, mandolins, and a marching rhythm which give Daddy's Daughter a swampy insistent feel.

https://www.instagram.com/theghostsofliberty

The Americana roots duo that would evolve to become “The Ghosts of Liberty” got its start long before Emma and Tyler Millard knew they would be eventually be married.

When Tyler was 21 sitting in a doctor’s office after having noticed that his peripheral vision had been giving him some trouble during a college game of ultimate frisbee, he received some bad news from his doctor who said, “You’re slowly going blind. You have RP. There’s no known cure.”

Tyler did not let his diagnosis slow him down. He picked up a guitar for the first time and began playing obsessively. His career in teaching was ended with his blindness. He put together a local blues-rock band in his small North Carolina town, and began playing full-time. Over the next several years, his musical chops got sharper as his vision slowly but surely continued to betray him. Tyler exclaimed, “It felt like a race against time!”

Emma taught herself how to wail and belt just like all the country greats as a little girl growing up in the heart of Texas. As life went on, from church choir to classical opera, musicals, and fronting an alternative pop-rock band, she saw a lot of different audiences for a lot of different reasons, but one thing remained the same, which is how much she loved singing for every one of them. Emma reflected on one of her deepest challenges, “Throughout my lifelong struggle with depression, and for all of life’s celebrations, music is my source of purpose."

Fast forward to 2014, Emma met Tyler for the first time at a “jam session”, and they immediately hit it off as friends. She began opening up for his band at local gigs. Meanwhile, she spent hours offstage with him writing and bonding over late night milkshakes at rural dive bar booths. Over time this bonding led to the realization that they make the other better in both life and music. Tyler’s steady, funny, and loving personality gave Emma the confidence to believe in herself and to continue chasing her passion. Emma’s spontaneous and sentimental nature provided Tyler with a ceaseless supply of inspiration and motivation. In 2018, under a giant oak tree, they made their union official in a beautiful late summer ceremony.

In January of 2020, six years after they met and hundreds of live shows later, “The Ghosts of Liberty,” their first child, is officially born. The duo worked with a three time Grammy nominated composer/producer to create a series of singles, one of which is "Daddy's Daughter." You will find the song on all streaming platforms.
