On “Homecoming” DuPont Brass takes us on a trip down memory lane. They set the mood over a bed of mellow, romantic R&B. The music is laced with a sentiment of love and desire - and while the singer is pursuing a long lost lover, he is ultimately looking to recapture so much more than that. The incomparable feeling of youth. The freedom of possibility. And the chance to have it all before we’re too old to enjoy it. Mixing horn ensembles is an art form in and of itself, and the work done here is akin to the Mona Lisa. But unlike Leonardo da Vinci’s work, there is no
doubt that this song will leave a smile on your face. The band brings the song home with a guitar solo that sings out - reminiscent of great R&B solos brought to us by the Isley Brothers. Take a listen and share with a friend - you will surely find that the love is contagious.

Artist shared with us few words behind the source of inspiration here:

"...This music was created following a challenging trip in Iran during Easter of 2016. Just few days after return from Teheran I was sitting on the sofa and watching TV. It was night and I ended up in a documentary about the wars of Alexander the Great in Persia. The documentary described the travel of Alexander through places which I had visited few days earlier. It was night and I started to improvise a music matching the images on the TV screen and, in approximately one hour, the fundamental part of the melodies was created. The entire compositions was finalized during the following 3 weeks..."

Slam Band and Sam – Black Hole (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“When six artists work together in a song, the result cannot be dissapointing! Find your favourite Soft Rock sounds mixed together in a song that can attract like magnet in a very effective way. Let the instrumental notes feed your imagination and relax.”

-Nagamag.com

Slam Band & Sam’s newest single sees the band taking a big step forward when the world around them seems to be spinning more out of control than ever. It’s called Black Hole, and it was initially inspired by NASA’s groundbreaking black hole photos in April 2019; however, singer/lyricist Adam Vasko sees it now as a functioning parable for hard times – for when your circumstances suck you in and make positivity harder and harder to exude.

It’s a step forward for Pittsburgh’s Slam Band in more ways than one. They’ve now introduced keyboardist Dave Carrera into the band – a change that’s caused a noticeable, fiery upheaval in their sound. His synth, Rhodes, and organ work adds inimitable textural layers rarely heard within the pantheon of East Coast jazz and blues-rock, and “Black Hole” is no exception, featuring cascading, intergalactic synth noises that fill post-chorus pauses like a cosmic fermata.

The song is more experimental than their past work, too, incorporating ever more brass and slap bass than before as the backing vocals trickle in and out in soft “oohs” behind Vasko’s raucous celestial deliberations. A closer listen to the lyrics unshrouds a newly distinct brand of introspection, examining important choices in the face of hardships. What does it mean to choose kindness? Too choose to keep moving when it feels like you’re paralyzed? To choose to keep your head up?

The band has been through some hard times, collectively and individually, and it leaks (perhaps unconsciously) into the song. Interpersonal turmoil, family members getting sick, loss, and grief – it’s all there, but, despite this “Black Hole” is relentlessly energetic; a call for listeners to hang in there and to shrug off the negatives whenever possible.

“Чарующая слух вокальная экспрессия в произведение -Too Late In The Day-. Красивая фортепианная импровизация, лады с блюзовыми нотами и атмосфера тёплого, позднего вечера.”

-Nagamag.com

BONGARD is a new, Berlin based Singer/Songwriter. Rooted in pop music and the ever perceptible lightness of jazz, his clear and multi-faceted voice combines tonal brilliance with expressive storytelling. The line-up featuring a jazz trio (piano, double bass, drums), his music transports you to an evening in a New York jazz bar, or straight into the lush soundtrack of a Hollywood movie - all the while never losing its subtlety. His songs celebrate life in powerful clarity, exploring the juxtapositions between melancholy, longing, joy, sadness and serenity. Inspired by artists such as Norah Jones, Jamie Cullum, Mel Tormé and Adele, as well as the songs of the Great American Songbook, BONGARD always remains true to himself. It is this simplicity which makes his music so recognisable. BONGARD had his first stage performance at the age of 9 and can look back on many years of international experience as a singer and actor. He toured Canada, China, Colombia and America, performed with renowned big bands and orchestras - such as the WDR Radio Orchestra -, sang at Radio City Music Hall and the Yankee Stadium in New York City, as well as in numerous TV - and radio shows. Finally, his path led him to meet songwriting team Perrin Manzer Allen and Sandi Strmljan of Streamlyne Music as well as Allen Glass in London (Aretha Franklin), with whom he developed and wrote the songs for his first EP Prologue. 2021 kicks off with the release of his first single TOO LATE IN THE DAY.

“Is it possible to express sadness via music? Listen to this stunning track from Lycoriscoris and find the answer. Melancholic synth soundscapes in a mix that can deeply affect every listener. Select Shizumu to relieve any emotional pain in an effective way.”

-Nagamag.com

Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his upcoming album ‘Chiyu’, out March 26.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design has won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME, and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at Tokyo’s legendary Dommune.

Composed throughout 2020, ‘Chiyu’ documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concepts that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it’s often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation – however, one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I realized how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou’, Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, ‘Flight’ gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP, and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

‘Chiyu’ is available on March 26 from Anjunadeep.
