Luminem, IKSRE – Mind Stroll (feat. IKSRE) (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Sometimes, the music takes you by the hand and leads you away from the surrounding bustle. It helps reflect the endless barrage of fire in the bustling streets of cities. In this case -Mind Stroll- is a great opportunity to build at least for a moment, a high barrier and allow yourself to let go of everything.”

“Бывает, музыка берёт тебя за руку и уводит прочь от окружающей суеты. Помогает отразить шквал бесконечного огня шумных улиц городов. В таком случае -Mind Stroll- это прекрасная возможность возвести хотя бы на мгновение высокий барьер и позволить себе отпустить всё и вся. ”

-Nagamag.com

Luminem’s third release Mind Stroll is quite a departure from her first two releases. With a more sombre undertone, Mind Stroll is an exploration through the recesses of one’s mind.

The left hand plays a steady ostinato throughout, giving some sense of stability, while the right hand moves from melancholic to a more urgent, slightly eery expression.

Featuring Phoebe Dubar aka IKSRE on violas which bring an added depth of emotion, there is an unresolved tension that carries throughout the piece.

Mind Stroll is the third single from Luminem's debut EP set to release mid 2021.

.

Nagamag:
Which are the genres that describe your music style better?

Chafa:
Piano-led, cinematic, & ambient contemporary classical music.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Chafa:
I began teaching myself piano when I was twelve years old, but I always loved music. Growing up in the Bay Area (California), I was introduced to several different cultures and styles of music.
It wasn't long before I felt the need to express my own thoughts and feelings through art, and piano was the instrument I felt the most connected to.

Before the pandemic, I would perform locally, but after spending time recording and releasing my music during this last year, I have my eyes set on creating music for film and potentially collaborating with other composers and orchestras.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Chafa:
Seeing performers on the street as a kid really inspired me. Watching their music move people to dance, smile, laugh, or cry was inspiring. I wouldn't learn an instrument for several more years, but my love for music continued to grow until I felt the urge one day to sit down and play some of the songs I loved so much.

Nagamag:
Many artists listen to genres that they are not producing music for. Which track is your favorite that is NOT similar to yours?

Chafa:
Beirut "Elephant Gun"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which is the track from a similar artist you admire?

Chafa:
Max Richter "Written on the Sky"

SLEEVEENS – The Draw (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“The power of music is so great that it can transfer our deepest feelings. “SLEEVEENS” prove their ability to give shape in raw sound with this sophisticated, dedicated to love, Neoclassical piece.”

-Nagamag.com

The Draw is a love song about the magnetism between flawed individuals and the perceived certainty that we can find in each other.
The track starts out with a composition of beautiful strings and haunting vocals.
The video for The Draw, features footage from the film “She Shoulda Said No!”, featuring Lila Leeds.

The tragic story of the demise of Lila Leeds’s film career and her participation in the making of this exploitation film touches heavily on themes within the song about being pulled towards reckoning with uncomfortable truths that upset our world view. And in the current cultural landscape where attitudes towards gender, representation and identity are in flux it is important to remember examples of tragic discrimination like that of Lila Leeds.

SLEEVEENS is Gareth McCarthy (instruments and voice) and Craig Cahill (voice and words).

Gareth and Craig have written, performed and worked together for over 20 years in a number of different musical groups (e.g. Red Empire, Resolution End and others)

They have graced many of Ireland’s largest stages over the years (e.g. The Olympia, Vicar St, Cork Opera House, The INEC) as well as touring abroad.

And they have both appeared and performed live on Irish television and radio many times (RTÉ’s The Saturday Night Show, The Late Late Show, Two Tube, The John Murray Show, TG4’s Róisín and many more).

Roman Wróblewski – Big Hug (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , , |

“The pronounced expression and collection of the artist’s intention and classical performance -Roman Wróblewski-. Emotions that can not be hidden. -Big Hug- is the expressive power of feelings and thoughts.”

“Ярко выраженная экспрессия и совокупность авторского замысла и классического исполнения -Roman Wróblewski-. Эмоции, которые невозможно скрыть. -Big Hug- это сила проявления чувств и переживаний.”

-Nagamag.com

Longing for closeness intimacy during the pandemic – a new music video by Roman
Wróblewski.

The video was produced in the post-industrial setting of the Companhia União
Fabril (CUF) industrial park in Barreiro, Portugal. The preparation process, including shooting, took
more than a year and was interrupted twice by restrictions caused by the prevailing Covid_19
pandemic.

Lucília Raimundo, a Mozambican-born dancer and choreographer who has worked with many
theatres in Portugal and Europe for over 15 years, is responsible for the choreography. The second
dancer in the video is Carolina Carloto, a talented Portuguese artist of the young generation.
Initially, the movements and gestures were meant to tell a story about love and the fear of losing
someone close. However, with the proliferation of Covid_19, and the resulting increasing
restrictions on social distance and uncertainty, the idea for the choreography naturally evolved into
a story about the uniqueness of the times in which we live.

The video was directed and shot by Andre Abrantini, a Portuguese director who is also the author
of the second video clip to Roman Wróblewski’s music, “Jump”. While working on “Big Hug”, Andre
decided to use black and white imagery, emphasising the opposition of the main characters. This
apt artistic move also highlighted the contrasts and shapes of the unique post-industrial setting and
works wonderfully with the poignant melody played in the low register of the piano.

The location of the video also plays an extremely important role in the image. With the help of the
Pada Studios residency centre and courtesy of Baia do Tejo company, the artists had the unique
grounds of an industrial park in Barreiro at their disposal. This park, closed after the 1974
revolution, was one of the largest complexes of its kind in early 20th century Europe, employing
nearly 10,000 people in its heyday. The dilapidated buildings and vast areas of factory waste,
together with Lucília Raimundo’s emotive choreography, complement Roman Wróblewski’s music
to create a moving work that tells a story, full of longing for a simple hug.

" The "Stories" EP is my first attempt at a purely classical themed release. The song Christmas is a tribute to my granddad who passed away in a tragic accident in 2016. It symbolizes the feelings connected to holidays (Christmas in particular) and how nothing is, or ever will be, like it was before. But the memories remains. "
