LocalBlac – But Could You

Categories: Hip-Hop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“”LocalBlac” spreads love and charm via his new single. Conscious Hip-Hop style built with melodic patterns and calm vocals. A different approach of sound, in which we aren’t used to. The result is surely interesting and the message clear too.”

LocalBlac is a Los Angeles-based artist, with roots in Little Rock, AR. He presents a melodic, hooky vein of hip-hop, with lyrics that explore the human experience with a relatable charm. “The beauty of writing is just being able to really digest everything you’ve been directly, and indirectly affected by,” LocalBlac says. “Converting that and packaging it into a condense style everyone can relate to all while upholding its full depth, and truths.”

Artist said about hsi Album Creative Process:

“This album definitely took a little bit longer to complete; I wanted this body of work to wholeheartedly reflect my continued growth, eagerness to be vulnerable, and really capture what it looks like to be an artist living in the 2nd year of a pandemic. The last part particularly you won’t be able to hear in my lyrics, but more in the tone, direction, sequencing, you know all the small details that really define the bigger picture. During the process there was more pressure than one would like; Me dealing with leaving for Japan for a year because of school, and having that back and forth dialogue on why it’s continuously getting postponed, on top of living in the now. That can weigh down on your psyche, and you lose sense of control making room for doubt, and uncertainty. Regardless of how fantastic I believe the album to be, there’s still that dark cloud that’s lingering, which ultimately I think is the most possessive part of the project when you listen to it. For example it took me 3 months to complete the Title track #14 Holding These Balloons, because something would change in my world, and now my hook didn’t make sense anymore or the second verse didn’t make sense anymore. It was the last track I actually finished late August.”

One True God – Love Lockdown

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“A new version of the "Love Lockdown" banger is out in favour of all Techno & House fans. Some short of ghostly vocals unfold on top of a tremendous kick and fat bassline. Do you need more to move your feet from the ground? This track has it too!”

-Nagamag.com

Canadian startup One True God (OTG) delivers a moody electronic remake of Kanye's now-classic hit "Love Lockdown" as his newest independent release. The new track is perfectly representative of OTG's signature style, which centers on minimalistic and yet dramatic sonic thematics with a twist of dark rhythm. The now Los Angeles-based singer & producer's soulful voice serves as a powerful conduit for West's original lyrics, and fans can clearly hear that One True God has a personal attachment to the original song itself; in fact, the remake was a product of his relationship struggles he was facing at the time of working on it. While taking on such a well-known production as "Love Lockdown" can be intimidating, OTG does so with sophistication and personal touch of darkness.

"People are much more in control of their lives and situations than they think they are. That's just an important message, I feel. And it resonates deeply with me. I think that dedicating a project to that belief was important." - One True God about his artist name.

One True God has been an active producer since 2018, but first appeared on the scene as a singer via "Come To Me," on mau5trap, where he captivated listeners with his powerful vocals. Much of his sonic style is built on emotive, darker thematics such as the challenging parts of love and romance, paired with angsty bass elements and mid tempo melodies. His affinity for dark vibes has been a part of him since childhood; he was always attracted to characters with a nefarious side, such as Spawn, Blade and Venom. Although spending most of his childhood in Canada, he went to high school in Dubai, to which he accredits much of his global taste. With releases like "Love Lockdown," serving as a follow-up single to his earlier "Tesla," "Afterlife," and more on the horizon, we can't wait to see what's next for One True God.

Free Radicals – Bipartisan Baby Jail

Categories: Hip-Hop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“A representative showcase for revolutionary spirit and liberating ideas is included in the brand new single of “Free Radicals”. The Hip-Hop veterans are back to blow up our minds with their ability to communicate messages through sound. By featuring vocals from three more talented singers, it also establishes connection with a bigger group of listeners.”

-Nagamag.com

Free Radicals, a musical, political, and cultural force in Houston for over two decades, is back with a powerful new single “Bipartisan Baby Jail,” out now. The single is the first from their highly anticipated album White Power Outage Volume 2, which continues their quest to put an end to white supremacy.

Free Radicals’ White Power Outage Volume 1 (2020) made waves with the press, radio, and fans through its diverse sound and beautiful mix of vocalists and musicians representing shades of Black, LatinX, white, Asian, mixed, and indigenous people that make the up the culture of Houston Texas. They came together to make revolutionary music, and to demand an end to the white supremacy in the arts, culture, politics, the economy, and in their personal lives. The album received critical praise from the Houston Press, Black Grooves, and Bandcamp Daily, which called it, “…a defiant soundtrack to our turbulent times, penned in solidarity with the victims of state-sponsored violence and systemic oppression.”

Free Radicals have been working on beats for the White Power Outage series for many years before COVID hit. Nick Cooper of the band explains, “As we were wrapping up volume 1, Black Lives Matter was in the streets, and we were collaborating with rappers, singers, and poets of color around the world, all experiencing the pandemic, recording, and white supremacy differently. By the time volume 1 was named “Local Album of the Year” in the Houston Chronicle, we were already in the middle of producing volume 2. The band has been rehearsing and recording on each other’s lawns, or in parks. We started recording every rehearsal and quickly cut up and looped, and sent to our collaborators to start writing for it.” The result for Volume 2 is another batch of 20 plus songs featuring a revolutionary spirit and performed on real acoustic instruments. Every Free Radicals album includes a rich mix of sax, trumpet, trombone, bass, guitar, percussion, and tuba without ever using MIDI.

“Bipartisan Baby Jail” features Michele Thibeaux, Henry Alvarez and Karina Nistal. It also includes 4 year old kids from Peace Camp Houston and combines singing, rap, and poetry over funk. Nick explains how the song came to fruition, “We had shot a video on volume 1 for Karina’s song ‘Estamos En La Lucha’ in front of a Houston Immigrant Detention Facility. After Kamala Harris made some disgusting remarks at the border, we decided to go back to blast the Democrats for upholding Trump’s anti-immigrant unconstitutional policies.” Stay tuned for the music video of “Bipartisan Baby Jail” and more singles to come.
