Song Review: “Better With Time” by Mitchell Makoons | A Rock Discovery

Music Review:

“On “Better With Time,” Mitchell Makoons transforms the understated power of heartland rock into something deeply personal. Its bright, unassuming melody carries an effortless vitality that resonates almost instinctively, while the warm, sincere vocals avoid unnecessary theatricality, allowing emotion to emerge with remarkable authenticity. The performance becomes a place of refuge, balancing vulnerability with quiet optimism in equal measure. Meanwhile, the steady rock pulse sustains the song’s forward momentum, giving it a dreamlike sense of freedom that makes everyday burdens feel lighter, if only for the duration of the track.”

Lyrics of Mitchell Makoons – Better With Time

Are you still looking down and finding dimes, my dear?
You settled in to a peace of mind
You can only see so far with your eyes so low
Gotta hold up your head to see the signs

Twenty dollars richer in sidewalk change
In a jar beside her picture on display
I almost got a dollar in my pocket’s weight
Heavy with a heartbreak I can’t afford to pay
Consider me lucky and open up my eyes
A heartache ain’t the hardest thing I could feel tonight

Looking at the same sky
Wishing on the same star
Something like tonight
Is when it all fell apart
I’m doing alright
Watching the sunrise
Only you can help me ease my mind
Well, I heard it all gets better with time

I couldn’t take any more of driving past your street
I flew across the world to take some time
Have you had the chance to forget about me?
From a thousand miles away, you’re on my mind

Don’t know why I’m waiting ’cause things won’t change
Guess planning life without you is just a little strange
I can almost see the light now, but it’s glowing dim
I’m scared to see your face and do this all over again
Consider me lucky and open up my eyes
A heartache ain’t the hardest thing I could feel tonight

Looking at the same sky
Wishing on the same star
Something like tonight
Is when it all fell apart
I’m doing alright
Watching the sunrise
Only you can help me ease my mind

Well, I heard it all gets better
Looking at the same sky
Wishing on the same star
Something like tonight
Is when it all fell apart
I’m doing alright
Watching the sunrise
Only you can help me ease my mind
Well, I heard it all gets better with time
