Song Review: “The Roof Falls In” by O’Reilly & Vincent | A Rock Discovery

Music Review:

Lyrics of O’Reilly & Vincent – The Roof Falls In

If the sky falls in I’ll try to catch it.
If the roof falls in we’ll build again.
If the sky falls in we’ll see together
if we can reach our hands to the stars.

Lath and plaster do not hold forever,
for time carries its own weight;
the ceiling bows to the longer pressure.
Children bounced on the landing here,
baths were filled and emptied, filled again
with a long hundredweight of water.

If the sky falls in I’ll try to catch it.
If the roof falls in we’ll build again.
If the sky falls in we’ll see together
if we can reach our hands to the stars.

The ceiling could not forget forgive,
plonked itself down one summer night,
took possession of the two-seater
Dusted the TV and the easy chair,
spread its legs across the carpet,
threw its eyes at the chasm above.

If the sky falls in I’ll try to catch it.
If the roof falls in we’ll build again.
If the sky falls in we’ll see together
if we can reach our hands to the stars.
