This song is a personal song about a sense of inner confusion, apathy, nervousness, and pretending to feel certain ways and the incongruence of acting one way and feeling another. With deep and introspective lyrics, the song explores the feeling of coming to terms with feeling this way, and not to be too hard on yourself for experiencing what you experience.

Starting with a soothing bell tone (Dulcimer) the song gradually builds up to a tapestry of sound with guitars, piano and chopped up vocals. Cy – Same Old Story (Spotify)
“"Cy" draws our attention with his influensive creation. Light pads, low paced hihats and elusive violin notes, create an impressive background for the artist's echoing voice. The concept is simple, but has a deep meaning!”

"Same Old Story" is the opening track of the debut EP - Reaching Out - by Cy. It's a track exploring complex emotions while trying to go forwards in life and relationships. With a catchy chorus inspired by artists like Ryx, I developed this pop song with synth, effects and strings supported by a nice brushed drum beat.

This melody is inspired by returning to places from the past.
The first part is a mix of good old memories and expectations of returning.
The second is facing reality. Meetings with loved ones are burdensome, old places have changed and don’t give the same emotions.
