Madison Beer releases the tragically whimsical video for her newest single “Reckless” today. The visual follows the release of the track earlier this month, which was Madison’s highest week debut ever on Spotify with over 4 million streams.

In the video, directed by Madison and Amber Park, Madison navigates the confusion of a lover’s betrayal inside a surreal story book world. The twisted fairytale is a melancholic but beautiful journey, with Madison emerging from the turmoil in the end as if awoken from a dream.

“I drew a lot of inspiration from classic children’s book themes for this video,” explains Madison. “I wanted the world for ‘Reckless’ to feel both disorienting and familiar, like a nightmare where nothing is what it seems and there’s no way out. Those are exactly the emotions I’ve gone through in relationships that have turned sour. When someone you’ve given all your trust to betrays you, you feel like everything you’ve ever known was a lie.”

"To tell the truth, this composition is not about the painting of Johannes Vermeer, only later I realized that the title could create some confusion. However, it was too late, all the listeners believed that it was my personal celebration to the famous portrait and I accepted. To complete the story, the inspiration for this music emerged in the last days of July of 2011, while coming back from Patinoire, a place in Brussels where expats, most of them Italians, are used to meet for aperitivo, chatting and dancing. Clearly, I met a girl wearing pearl earring, a person who would have changed my life for a while. The leit motiv of the composition emerged during the night, however it took some months to get up to the complete version. A good friend of mine told me that this is a tormenting, heartbreaking music reflecting the consequences of meeting the girl ..." Innocenzo Genna

Leeroy Stagger finds inspiration through grief on his new single ‘Ventura’ out today on all digital streaming platforms.

“The song ‘Ventura’ is about my friend Neal Casal,” says Leeroy. “The first time I met Neal was on a magical night in New York City, he was working on Willie Nelson’s Songbird record as he was in Ryan Adams’ band The Cardinals at the time. He invited us out to the 17th St. bar where all the Cardinals were hanging out, he introduced me to the band and they all had laughed how they were happy that Ryan wasn’t there because they didn’t want me to have a bad impression of him.

“Neil was always enthusiastic. We ran into him a few years later in Nottingham, England, where Ryan was playing the big theatre. Neal came out for coffee with me and my wife Coby and always had such nice things to say about my music and my career. He even sang on my Everything Is Real record, which was such an honour for me. Before he tragically passed, we had been in touch about him possibly playing guitar on some new music I was working on.

“I wanted to pay tribute to my friend in song. When it came time to make a video, I thought it would be very cool to have something surf related, as Neal was such a big surfer. He loved the ocean. I found this great old surf footage from California in the 50s on YouTube and approached the fellow who owned it (Wes Timmons) who also happened to be a film editor. He lovingly edited the video into the dream state we see. It fits perfectly to the song and is a beautiful tribute to Neal.”

‘Ventura’ is the first single from Leeroy Stagger’s new album Dystopian Weekends, which is set for release on October 1st. Recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver at the beginning of the global pandemic, Leeroy says that “Dystopian Weekends is the serum of truth with a slice of light and darkness that we all need right now.”

On June 25th, 2021 Sine Music released Blooy’ssecond single “Demain dès l'aube” of his upcoming lo-fi chillout debut EP “Elegies to Spring”.

Blooy, based in Amsterdam, is Sine Music’s freshly signed new lo-fi chillout artist. Blooy (Frank Wijn) started working on this solo project during the Corona period. His sound is its own unique flavor of chillout that’s fueled by dreamy electronics, lo-fi hip-hop beats, drama-filled instrumentation and melancholic soundscapes.

“Demain dès l'aube“ starts off with the first two verses of the poem of the same name by French poet Victor Hugo. The words and the music form a unity that is absorbed in thought and melancholy. “Demain dès l'aube“ means “tomorrow, at dawn”.

The entire EP “Elegies to Spring” will be out on July 16th, 2021.

Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the art form.
