“This is about a true and mature heartbreak, I’m sure most can relate because it’s the most honest song I’ve written to date,” Paws said regarding the track’s core themes.

The track title references Paws’ cultural crossroads: with the song title “bruk up” — a Jamaican patois term for ‘broken’ – filtering into his vocabulary from the close connections to the culture that he’s nurtured from his upbringing in London. Sitting perfectly alongside both his British and African influences, sounds and styles, Paws’ melting pot of travelled locales has created a summer anthem like no other.

In 2021, the musician blessed us with his EP ‘To The Bag’. For that project, one of the many standouts was Paws’ Notion co-signed single ‘Southside Girl’, currently sitting at almost 100,000 streams on Spotify alone.

Fom Blixie Perestroika’s debut album AMBITION IS LOW, the first single ‘Everything and Nothing’ is a “gentle” introduction to the band’s work, says singer Blixie. The song starts slowly, a dreamlike entry to a vast, dynamic soundscape that culminates in soaring vocals, or as singer Blixie says: “the sound of truth gleaned only after having f-cked up, the sound of self-recrimination.” Part of the song is based on having experienced the “saccharine, dirty madness” of getting lost in “desert time” in Los Angeles. “I was reeling from the shock of losing a great friend, a true genius.” Blixie says. “I spent too long chasing adventures in L.A with people I thought were kindred spirits on the basis that they had made films/music/art that were meaningful to me when I was younger. In reality they were shadows. People of no fixed personality or loyalty. I stayed too long trying to break through to their humanity, but it was reserved for the script, the screen, the studio…I got tired of perpetually dealing with people whose ambition could strip the enamel off teeth. Meanwhile, the smartest person I’ve ever known, and one of the kindest, sincerest…was back home all along. Unfortunately by the time I realised, it was too late. Alot of people waste time investing in subpar relationships based on a promise, on perceived potential. Everything and Nothing is a lament and reminder: don’t waste your time. Realise when to stop looking for proof of something that doesn’t exist, except in fantasy.”

Symphonic and Digital Promotions Group announce the release of rising pop singer-songwriter Jessica Carter Altman’s new single “Lucky One.” Altman, who is currently putting the finishing touches on a new EP, For You, the follow-up to her debut No Rules, is sharing a heartfelt ballad dedicated to her father. This first single is perhaps the most deeply personal song to date in her repertoire—it’s a gorgeously uplifting acoustic ballad that pays homage to the strength and inspiration her father instilled in her.

Carter Altman notes: “I wrote the first track, ‘Lucky One,’ early in the pandemic. My father would always talk about how lucky he felt to have my brother and me as his children. This song was my response – that we were the lucky ones to have such a wonderful and caring father. And with the help of Jason Lehning, Jordan Lehning, Todd Lombardo, Viktor Kraus and my co-writer Palmer Lee, I was able to record and give it to him just before his passing.”

Though her lyrics are very personal, they touch universal chords that countless others can relate to having lived through the devastating losses and dramatic life alterations in the wake of the pandemic. It touches on both Robert’s selfless commitment to helping so many people in his life and the view that at the end of the day, the only things that matter in life are family and friends.

Jillian Lee Antinora’s “Lighthouse” is a tender ode to friendship. Utilizing her acoustic guitar to create the mellow and inviting atmosphere which is characteristic to her music, the singer-songwriter conjures up warmth and gratitude. “This is a song I wrote for my best friends. I have really needed them over the past couple of years,” she explains. Using the metaphor of a lighthouse, Antinora paints a vivid picture of what it’s like to be like a lost boat that eventually finds hope outside of the darkness with a lighthouse. “You never criticize, you can cut through all the lights,” she sings, “the world tells us our truth, I’m so thankful for you.”

“You can pretty much already see its end and you are finally being honest with yourself, which can be empowering,” explains Nykki, talking about the meaning behind the song. “I naturally always want to see the best in every situation. This is about that time when I just finally admitted it’s not gonna work and that’s also okay. I can only do serious relationships, that’s just how I’m built, so sorry not sorry to every guy who just wants to have fun!”

Diving deeper into the writing and production process Nykki adds; “I wanted to write something darker and a bit sexy. We started writing the lyrics around a few ideas I had in my phone. The song’s title started as a joke. I said ‘I think it was a right place wrong time situation’ and John said ‘yeah more like wrong guy’, and that’s how it happend. I wanted to make sure this was a savage song, not sad, but very powerful and almost making fun of the situation”.

Songwriting has been a life saving tool for Nykki, at the high of the pandemic she connected with producers and co-writers all over the world, these transatlantic online sessions resulted in last year’s single ‘Me Over You’ written with Salt Ashes’ collaborators, British writing and production duo The Radiators, which has seen support from fashion and music publications such as Metal Magazine and Mundane Magazine, among others.
