Fancy steps up to the plate in a big way by delivering a defini-tive statement on never looking back on his newest single, the upbeat and uplifting “Beauty Queen.”
The first single from his forthcoming sophomore studio record to be released in Spring 2022, “Beauty Queen” sees Fancy take a closer look at a failed relationship. But rather than dwell on the past, Fancy instead feels empowered by the experience, resulting in him becoming a stronger, better person in the end.
“I’ve never been afraid of wearing my emotions on my sleeve,” says Justin. “Bad break-up songs might be cliché, especially in country music, but I see this song as a positive spin on a lesson learned. It’s the kind single that I’m confident my fans will be singing along to, while also understanding and embracing the meaning behind it.”
Already resonating with audiences and industry alike, one of the early indicators of the song’s strength has come in the form of an invitation from The Recording Academy for Justin to perform the single as part of their Press Play At Home concert series on Grammy.com, making him the first Canadian country recording artist to be invited to participate since its inception in 2018. Justin’s performance of “Beauty Queen” will air on The Recording Academy’s Youtube channel and Grammy.com on Thursday, October 28.

Fancy’s debut album, Sure Beats A Good Time, debuted in the No. 3 position on Apple’s iTunes Canadian Country music chart. The record would go on to rack up more than a half-million streams across major streaming platforms. In addition to his single “Makes Me Wanna” peaking at #41 on the Billboard ra-dio charts and being played at over 70 radio stations across Canada, the song also hit #1 on the CBC/Sirius XM Canada Country chart.

Fly is the latest release in a series of pieces composed around the modern relationships beginning, middle and increasingly common end. With the first release ‘Charmed’ Composed around the beginning phase of a relationship combining the excitement and trepidation as the key focus.
Fly encapsulates the ‘honeymoon’ period, where the relationship develops and takes a route in its own snowballing momentum. The repeating triad emphasizes the development of the relationship staying constant throughout the piece only to enter with small changes infrequently. The main melody relies on the polyrhythmic progression of the main triad and the second to create the outstanding notes. To the side of the piece there is a constant cascading melody played to symbolize the distractions that play a role in every relationship. To hold the structure of the piece is the low driving bass chords, the emphasis on the bass and sub tones is linked to the momentum during the honeymoon period.
When played separately, each part is seemingly insignificant and simplistic. It is only when they are all combined that they create complete unity; in the same way that a relationship relies on its key components to work.

Produced by Patrick Taylor (also known as Lazuli Vane), the song draws listeners in with its light, feathery vocals and dreamy ukulele. Every element of the track places listeners right into the heart of the character at hand. Urging her “other half” gently to consider opening up to her, she reassures her partner that the connection she feels knows no bounds.
