Conradaxx – Of Which We Came (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

"Of Which We Came" is one of a handful of downtempo, synth-driven tracks released by Conradaxx in 2020. This track stands out from the rest with it's hypnotic beat and trance-like binaural movements . Each moment is purposeful, never stagnant, furthering this sonic narrative. While partly hides melancholic vibes at the end delivers a bright message.

Few words about Conradaxx
Conradaxx is the solo project of musician Alex Giles Conrad of Portland, Oregon. Conrad comes from a family of musicians who have dabbled in everything from the Northern soul scene of 1950's Philadelphia to rock and speed metal on the other side of the coast. While Conrad draws heavy influence and pride from these roots, he's never been one to follow suit. He grew up on 1990's American hip-hop and r&b, eventually branching out to electronic rock and EDM after the turn of the century.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Conrad began playing drums, the xylophone, and just about anything else he could get his hands on as a small child. Currently he also plays the guitar as well as analog synthesizers. Shying away from the mainstream, he believes that every piece of music he works through should be somewhat experimental in nature, achieving something new along the way.

Slowburner – Nebula (Video)

Categories: Electronica, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“Nebula” is the result of some experiments Slowburner made in the past couple of months, specifically for those visuals in a music adventure to explore ambient and experimental elements, slow progression sleep ambient that will hypnotize you in its atmospheres and gently harmonic tones.

Few words about Slowburner:
Slowburner is the most recent project of Élvio Rodrigues, composer and producer from Madeira island, now based in Lisbon, Portugal. In spite of being a player of multiple instruments, since 2015 Élvio has been experimenting with piano, field recordings and ambient soundscapes. The result is embodied in Slowburner’s debut EP – Before I Return To Dust – which was self-released in digital and CD formats on March 14th 2017.

In 2018, Élvio challenged himself to explore the piano more, having created for that effect a project named “Sunday mornings are for piano”, on which during 10 weeks he composed 10 songs which he played live on Instagram, one each week.

Those 10 songs were then re-recorded and were self-released in a CD Collection named ‘Sunday mornings are for piano’ in June 7th 2019.

111 – See You Again (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, Features, Songwriter Features, The Latest, Top Music Discoveries|Tags: , , , , |

Nadja, Singer & Songwriter of 111, wrote 'See you again' for her best friend who passed when she was 18 years old. At that time she had no emotional tools to deal with the overwhelming pain and it almost tore her apart. Because of all the pain, for a long time she wasn't really able to feel the deep, beyond-lifetime connection between him and her. Now she does feel it and from this exact place comes this song!

Few words about 111:

With 111, Nadja and her producer pick up the idea of 'healing music' with its scientifically proven benefits and translating it into a new sound aesthetic for a wider audience: No eso -cliché, but a fresh, organic ambient -electro-sound that gives the listener a feeling of relaxation and warmth. A lot of the songs are presented in 432 hz instead of the usual 440 hz pop-songs are presented in. Studies prove, that this frequency has more relaxing and empowering effects because it matches the natural vibration of the human body. 111 combines instruments from different musical traditions which are known for their touching and relaxing sounds, for example the monochord. The lyrics sometimes embed mantras from different religions which are known for their strengthening and healing effects, and are always positive and empowering.

With their new approach and understanding of ‚healing music‘, 111 brings together artists from all genres and all over the world, who also believe in the positive effects of rhythm, sound and voice! For example, for their song ‚protected‘ Nadja worked together with award-winning L.A.-based producer Robot Koch, with whom she also wrote the newest track 'See you again'. The successful Berlin-based producer-duo 'Dasmo & Mania' didi the production!

Super talented London-based Superheart brings beauty to the world with his touching, poignant and heartfelt music. Penning the human experience and pairing it with ambient and emotionally charged soundscapes, Superheart has become a trailblazer in the dreamy, indie-pop music sphere. The moving artist returns with new single "Careful There's A World Out There," due out next week.

With highly successful releases under his belt including hit singles "Count On Me," "Talk About It," "World's on Fire" and more, along with praise from notable publications including Flaunt Magazine, The 405 and others, Superheart continues to spearhead the indie movement and win the hearts of many.

His self-proclaimed "anti-gravity" sound takes you out of your head and enables you to get lost in the music. Superheart released his Opening Credits EP last year which has garnered praise from the masses.

As the world sits in a reflective state, Superheart offers advice to his past self in this sentimental track. "Careful there's a world out there, I don't know what the future brings," he croons. There's beauty in reflection and strength in moving forward with knowledge. "This song is kinda like my way of processing heartbreak, by giving my thoughts and advice to a past self - or maybe someone in the future that might find comfort in it. It seems to have an extra relevance right now with the state of the world in these current times."

If there was one way to describe how Superheart's music makes you feel, then it would feel like the warmth of being wrapped in a blanket and reminiscing on the best times of your life. With the current state of the world, we hope this music brings a little bit of solace. Superheart has a knack for creating music that envelops you, taking you out of your own world into a place infinitely better.

What do you think of Superheart's "Careful There's A World Out There?" This will be out next week. Let me know if you're interested in setting up a feature or coverage.

A track with a right downtempo groove and melancholic harmonies.

Few words about Martin Rott:
Born in Ohio, USA, Martin grew up in Germany with mom and dad being classical violinists, receiving drum lessons from age 6, whilst developing self-taught piano, guitar and bass skills playing in school and church bands.

Leaving home at age 16 to join his first rock band he went on to earn a professional music education including studies at Berklee, Boston, USA, the Conservartory of Enschede, NL, a diploma as a Jazz-Musician from the School of Music and Perf. Arts Mannheim and a BA in music production from the Popakademie Mannheim, where he wrote and produced his first LP for his indie-pop duo „anstatt Blumen“. After teaching drums, playing in and producing several bands from all genres he worked as an in-house producer of Austrias largest commercial studio in Vienna until game score giant dynamedion welcomed him to their team of external composers in 2014. Emerging from this work now for the first time he's planning to release 2 solo EPs and one album with his very own artistic vision of beats and soundscapes, to make room for some of the many ideas based on pictures wich haven't been captured on film yet…

RefraQ – Necromancer
(Spotify)

RefraQ is the alias of Joe Mawson, a young music producer and visual artist from the South West of England. Tipped by UKF, and signed to the Inspected imprint, RefraQ will release his ‘Northlands EP’ on 17th June. The four track release features new productions ‘Necromancer’, ‘The Phasmid’, ‘Plucked From The Pixie Ring’, and ‘Voices Of Aorr’. ‘The ‘Northlands EP’ follows his acclaimed debut for Inspected, entitled ‘RUK’.

A genuinely groundbreaking artist, RefraQ creates complex electronic arrangements that could be broadly placed under the banner of electronica, but also take in elements of broken beat, ambient, and early dubstep; the result is like folk music from another corner of the solar system. Across the four tracks, the ‘Northlands EP’ exemplifies his otherworldly and genuinely futuristic sounding take on electronic music, and after several years of rave revivalism a look to the future feels like a refreshing change.

RefraQ’s video art brings his music to life. A digital artist, Mawson creates videos for each of his releases; he visualises each piece of music when writing it, sketching out ideas in the studio for each project that will be turned into the final short film. The drawings and sketches that are brought to life in stunningly immersive animation are abstract and fantastical, like something akin to intergalactic pop art.

As a member of visionary collective, Soda Island (who released the acclaimed album ‘A Trip to Soda Island’), RefraQ has been working alongside Funilab and Studio Syro, on a forthcoming animated virtual reality series, ‘Tales From Soda Island’ for Facebook and Oculus. The approximately 5-minute VR short features 3D animation - created in the Quill creation app - and brings it to life with spatial audio and special effects. The trailer can be found here, and the Oculus link here: https://ocul.us/3cMzZhY.
