Shontelle – Sanctify (Video)

Categories: Features, Pop, Pop Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“The expressive side of Shontelle’s music has always been its cinematic accompaniment. Singing violins, simple but catchy rhythm do their job and make you move in time with the melody. One can feel how an atmospheric stream of emotions bursts out of the vocalist’s chest, which captivates the listener with energy!”

“Выразительной стороной музыки -Shontelle- всегда было её кинематографичное сопровождение. Поющие скрипки, простой, но запоминающийся ритм делают своё дело и заставляют вас двигаться в такт с мелодией. Чувствуется, как из груди вокалистки вырывается атмосферный поток эмоций, который очаровывает слушателя своей энергетикой!”

WE ARE AVA – No More (Video)

Categories: Features, Pop, Pop Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“We fell in love with this full of life track. Liked the big room build ups and a voice to match the quality of the build. ”

-Nagamag.com

2 minutes and 38 seconds of pure synth force – that’s what the power track No More promises. From beat one, the song describes the struggle with oneself and one’s own mind games, only to call out to the world with powerful hits in the chorus: «I don’t wanna fight this war no more. Everyday I try to let it go. I know that it’s all just in my head. So, I don’t wanna fight this war no more.» Questioning yourself, rethinking, not feeling like you belong. «So damn hard for me to be okay.» The complexity of the subject matter and its musical background was a great challenge for the band, which is why the three can look back on the process with all the more pride today.

On the back of his massive global music collaboration with fellow UK-based afrofusion artist Nizzy and Nigerian rising star Buju, which is being championed by the likes of Flaunt Magazine, 9Bills, Niji Magazine, iMULLAR and PAM Magazine, UK-based afropop and afrofusion artist SEAN DAMPTE returns with his highly anticipated third EP BABA WON on October 15. This new project is the third instalment in his ‘Awoodah’ EP series, which started back in 2018 with his debut EP The Awoodah Begins and continued last year with the Man Like Sean Dampte EP.

Produced by JayOcean, with additional production from Jomane and TushBeats, the 5-track Baba Won EP opens with the already popular lead single ‘Pepe (Remix)’ before going into the infectious afrobeats offering ‘Allow Me’ featuring SeyiVibez, and the slow-burning love song ‘Oji Mo’. The EP winds down with ‘Choke Oh’, which sees Sean Dampte opining about relationships that are only driven by money, and the introspective ‘Agbada’, over which the Nigerian-born artist shares his story of perseverance and how far he has come to reach where he is now.

Speaking about the inspiration behind his Baba Won EP, Sean Dampte says, “with this ‘Baba Won – Awoodah’ EP, I felt it was time to fully begin to express the enigma behind the artist that is Sean Dampte and what is behind the music itself. ‘Baba Won’ aims to showcase the different elements to my music without losing its African heritage and background. The EP was inspired mostly by the need to show how far the brand ‘Awoodah’ and I have come since 2018, and to serve as a prelude to my debut album, which is going to be released in 2022”.

Championed by the likes of MTV, BET, TRACE and Apple Music, and more recently by Flaunt Magazine, iMULLAR and PAM Magazine, while also having shared the stage with afrobeats royalty such as D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Wande Coal, Sean Dampte has been foundational and a staple fixture in the rise of afrobeats music in the UK, and is revered for his stellar fusion sound of afrobeats, dancehall and pop music, which has amassed over four million plays along the way. His highly anticipated new EP Baba Won – Awoodah is out now on October 15.

Josephine Philip – The Clue (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Features, Pop, Pop Features, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“Taken from Josephine's forthcoming album, this single has some Cinematic touch. A slightly melancholic story of love unfolds from the lyrics and the delicate singer's voice matches perfectly with the chilling background patterns.”

-Nagamag.com

The Clue is a contemporary love song. It revolves around impossible love and the acceptance of it.

The track is also an homage to Nina Simone’s version of Billie Holiday’s song Don’t Explain.

Don’t Explain was written by Holliday in response to one of her husband’s affairs. When he tried to explain away why lipstick was on his collar, Simone responded disgustingly “Take a bath, man; don’t explain”.”

Philip’s The Clue is an inspirational tribute to the great women, their sound, storytelling and courage, that took to the microphone and stage before her - a driven, vulnerable, poetic and empowering track.

Paula Jivén – What Are You Hungry For? (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Features, Pop, Pop Features, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“The minimalist of the sound, in which, every sound element in its place, the Dream Pop rhythm section fascinates with its airy atmosphere, and the vocals take off our solar system. The sound is very high quality, and the main thing is the positive and correct atmosphere, which in the aggregate is awakening exclusively positive emotions!”

“Минималистичность звучания, в котором каждый звуковой элемент на своём месте, ритм-секция Dream Pop очаровывает своей воздушностью, а вокал уносит за пределы нашей солнечной системы. Звук очень качественный, а главное позитивная и правильная атмосфера, что в совокупности пробуждает исключительно положительные эмоции!”

-Nagamag.com

Paula Jivén makes spellbindingly original pop music, each song sparked from her radiant imagination. At just 17-years-old, she’s already cultivated a truly singular voice as an artist, one that defies all expectations in favor of following her most playful and daring instincts. With a self-described mission of “disrupting the comfortable and comforting the disrupted”, Jivén is set to deliver a debut body of work revealing her supreme gifts as a storyteller and the tremendous power of her captivating voice. October 1st saw the release of her debut single “What Are You Hungry For?”.

Paula Jivén about the track:

“WAYHF? is a song about self-sabotage and self-doubt, but also covering growth and self-love. I wrote it to a close friend who was going through a personal crisis. I wanted to bring comfort and love to her distress, give her a sense of peace but also reflect on the big questions, if you see what I mean? That's where the question comes in. What Are You Hungry For? What brings meaning and joy, and - you name it - to your life? That's the question that I want to ask you. Because I want to know! <3" https://twitter.com/PaulaJiven

Nathaniel Paul – songbird (Video)

“Wide open landscapes and emotions are evident in this well composed creation. S if through rosy colored, glasses the slow beat and drawn out guitar are superb. ”

The dream is to go back. The nightmare is that we never can.

https://www.nathanielpaulhoff.com/

During quarantine, I had to make a trip to the grocery store. I met an elderly man
who struck up a conversation with me. We almost seemed to be kindred spirits.
He began the conversation with “Life is hard when you outlive all the ones
you love.”

https://www.facebook.com/NathanielPaulHoff

It seemed like a bit of a quick start to a conversation, but I could tell he
just needed someone to talk to. After talking for a while, I felt this sense that he had
that the world at large had forgotten about him. But, he had created a plan to travel
the world on a train he had read about. He could work on the train and it would
take him across the world. He was amidst planning his way out.

https://www.instagram.com/nathanielpaulhoff

“songbird” was a direct inspiration from that moment. This idea of life after all that you
love and care for is gone. His story resonated with me in the way that I feel from COVID
taking away so many small businesses – so many dreams from all of us.

But what do we do now? Where do we go from here?

“songbird” hopes to take you to a place of hope amidst a looming dark shadow cast over the world.

RUNAE – You’re My Wild Storm (Spotify)

“Juicy modern mix, angelic voice and pleasant warm atmosphere. Sound elements equally occupy a music space and seems to whisper on the ear, I'm with you, I'm near. Casting melodic work!”

“Сочная, современная аранжировка, ангельский голос вокалистки и приятная, ламповая атмосфера. Музыка обволакивает, равноправно занимают музыкальное пространство и словно шепчет на ухо, - я с тобой, я рядом. Цепляющее мелодичное произведение!”

-Nagamag.com

Runae shared few words behind this song inspiration with Nagamag:

"I wrote this song myself this summer in my bedroom and home studio in Hundested in Denmark where I live. The song is about feeling attracted to the wild and tells the story about being in love with this wild person who is unpredictable but at the same time has a power over you. I am inspired by nature and like to use elements from nature in both my lyrics and visuals.

The song has a romantic soft pop mood."

XHOANA X – The Villain (Video)

Categories: Features, Pop, Pop Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“Enjoy the lung melody, angelic singing and an interesting selection of chords. The bold rhythm section, which seems to be dug in your brain, and dramatism allocated on a general background adds energy and lush atmosphere to the already bright work!”

“Наслаждаетесь лёгкой мелодией, ангельским пением и интересным подбором аккордов. Дерзкая ритм-секция, которая словно впивается в ваш мозг, а ярко выделяющийся на общем фоне драматизм лишь добавляет и в без того яркую работу долю энергии и пышной атмосферы!”

-Nagamag.com

Albanian born XHOANA X takes her dark, Eastern European heritage very seriously. From an upbringing of one of the most tolerant spiritual cultures in the world, comes a unique style of art, with a mixture of freedom, rebellion and heroism.

The relaxed form of culture from Albania is the driving force here. You are in the darkest little corner of your room. And yet, this is where you find that you are most comfortable. Although perhaps you also find yourself a bit surprised at the ease in which you exist here.

The unexpected seems natural.

The rich enthralling darkness is the vibe.

Following in the footsteps of early musical influences the likes of Massive Attack and ‪Portishead, XHOANA’s music takes us on a spellbinding journey, as if we are preparing for a series of pagan rituals based on mystical beliefs.

Make no question here, she is the high priestess, and in full control of the ritual. The journey is a web in which we are caught, but you’ll find it hard to turn your ears away. You are trapped in a web of intrigue and sensuality while a neo noir movie plays in your head.

Her look and fashion is no less captivating, additionally filled with occasional David Lynch-esque twists and turns. Although her main ambition has always been on developing her musical recording career, XHOANA has also worked both as an actress, influencer, and model.
