“Beautiful Folk sound and live, energetic vocals make their way and carry thoughts somewhere deep in mind. The song can quickly capture the consciousness of its listener and draw charming images in it.”

“Красивая фолк-музыка и живой, энергичный вокал делают своё дело и уносят мысли куда-то вдаль, во что-то неизведанное и прекрасное. Песня мгновенно захватывает сознание слушателя и рисует в ней чарующие символы и образы.”

Familiar Feeling' is a song that looks at the dynamics of a long relationship. The ups and downs of a relationship can simultaneously cause deep love and drive each other mad. Ultimately, love has a way of working itself out and that familiar feeling ends up finding a way.

Pretty Archie, their sixth album, is one of which they are justifiably proud, for it represents a quantum leap forward in the evolution of the group’s sound. ”I feel each of our other records was a step ahead of the previous one, but this one is six steps ahead,” declares bassist/vocalist/songwriter Colin Gillis. “We are proud of everything we’ve put out, but this is at a different level.”

Helping the group realize the formidable creative achievement that is Pretty Archiewas internationally-acclaimed record producer and engineer Mark Howard, whose star-studded resume includes work with the likes of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, U2, Tom Waits, The Tragically Hip, Peter Gabriel, and more. Howard’s fortuitous recent relocation to Cape Breton afforded Pretty Archie the opportunity to take advantage of his skills, and the band couldn’t be happier with the results.

“The unique and melodic voice of -Matteo Tessar- clings to the soul from the first seconds. Acoustic folk song with guitar chords and slow rhythm. Light romantic charm is dispelled in the air, bringing hope and faith.”

“Феноменальный, такой мелодичный голос -Matteo Tessaro- цепляет за душу с первых секунд. Акустический фолк, пьянящие звуки гитары и неспешный ритм предают песне лёгкий романтический шарм, развеивая в воздухе флюиды любви, надежды и веры.”

This song encompasses soulful acoustic poetry with harmonies that enliven the listener from the core such that the soul dances with the playful lyrics. "Old strings ring with wisdom in my bones, they sing peacefully to my soul..."

“A song with calm guitar and percussion patterns, which bring in mind singing birds. Also the vocals are so gentle and softly touch your ears like air. Wonderful composition and real sedative for tired souls.”

“Песня, в которой грамотно объединены спокойные гитарные и ударные партии с пением птиц и нежным, спокойным, таким мягким, но в то же время трогательным вокалом. Чудесная композиция, настоящее успокоительное для уставших душ.”

The 17 year-old singer-songwriter returns with latest track about childhood friendship

17 year-old London singer-songwriter, Lexie Carroll has released her new self-written folk pop track, ‘Racing Raindrops’, produced by Al Mobbs and mixed by Dan Swift.

Lexie Carroll creates tracks that tell stories from the heart. ‘Racing Raindrops’ is her story of growing up and growing apart from an important childhood friend. The track sees Lexie delicately weaving through carefree memories that evoke the innocence and purity of young friendship whilst also capturing the emotion and longing in reflecting on how time and relationships inevitably move on and change.

Speaking on the premise of the track about a friendship growing apart, Lexie said, “It’s quite bittersweet as although there’s distance and you don’t see each other the way you used to, it’s comforting knowing that they’re still there and the real closeness never changes.”

Ferris & Sylvester – Golden (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“When it happens to feel lost in this world and with a sense of not having “enough”, “Golden” has the spirit and mood you need to find your way. The Americana song which emphasizes on the importance of dreaming in our lives. Free your fantasy and never stop dreaming!”

Kicking off the year with a bang, acclaimed British blues-rock duo Ferris & Sylvester release “Golden”, the latest single to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album Superhuman, which is set for release March 11th, 2022 via PIAS/Integral.

The celebratory anthem offers another shade to the band’s already rich palette as they bring pop, soul and roots influences into their already eclectic mix. In the accompanying music video (also available today), the lush, layered harmonies and horn accents are brought to life at the venue where the duo of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester first met: London’s beloved Spiritual Bar and shows us their journey from playing solo, to playing together, and finally to a crowded room – “just like we dreamed”.

They say “Golden is a song for the dreamers. For those who are searching for something more and aren’t quite sure how to get there, but fight for it everyday despite the odds. We wrote this at a time of great uncertainty, asking ourselves where are we going? Has anyone else been here? Sometimes those big questions can cloud you, yet your dreams somehow find a way through the fog. We hope this speaks to people and inspires them to dig in and keep dreaming.”

From tomorrow, the pair are back on the road in support of the Music Venue Trust for their ‘Revive Live’ tour. The six-date run will see the duo perform in grassroots local venues up and down the country. They are thrilled to be able to do their bit to support independent venues, especially given how tough the last couple of years have been.

“Now more than ever, local communities and artists need these spaces to be nurtured and kept alive,” they explain, and given their origin story – meeting in a small independent venue, this feels even more special. “Not only were we given a stage on which to grow and develop night after night, it is where we’ve met our dearest friends,” they add, “Music Venue Trust recognise what grassroots venues can bring to a community and strive to protect and celebrate them. We could not be more honoured to be a small part of their story.”

The rest of 2022 is set to be similarly busy as Ferris & Sylvester continue their path to their debut album. This Spring they’re set to head out to SXSW for their first US shows since 2019 with more live shows and appearances to be announced soon.

Ferris & Sylvester’s debut LP shrewdly documents the talented pair’s creative and personal journey with one another. The 12 track album – recorded in Seattle USA with Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, The Strokes), and Cornwall UK with Michael Rendall (Pink Floyd, Youth) – holds 10 brand new songs and takes the listener on a journey through the duo’s world where genres intertwine and emotions are stripped down to the core.

Superhuman came together when Issy and Archie escaped to the countryside. As lockdowns began, they discovered a life away from touring, where writing and recording was sandwiched between hiking, knitting and growing their own food.

Hailed for their “immaculate harmonies” and “rich, fully realised sound” (Rolling Stone), Ferris & Sylvester fuse folk and rock’n’roll sensibilities into an undeniable sound that has previously landed them comparisons to everyone from Simon & Garfunkel to First Aid Kit, and gigs with Mystery Jets, Robert Plant, George Ezra, Jade Bird among others.

Tommy Alexander – River Run Down (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“If you prefer some live sound, spend your time with Tommy Alexander and his rich guitar solos. In "River Run Down" the message is simple; Let the time pass and avoid looking back. Pure Americana production with the artist's friendly vocals.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist said about this song:

“River Run Down” is a song with a simple and classic sentiment: let the past go. We recorded it live during the Waves sessions but it didn’t quite fit onto the record. It’s a tune we’ve really enjoyed playing live the past couple years and it feels good to finally get it out and share it with you all." - Tommy Alexander

TOMMY ALEXANDER – American Songwriter First Listen – Western AF Session – Glide Magazine Feature – KEXP Song of the Year Feature - WAVES has become an essential part of our quarantine kit for it’s easy pace, Tommy’s calming baritone, and its shockingly prescient lyrics. For the past few years, Alexander has been putting sweat equity into his independent booking agency Pilot Light Booking, amassing an incredible roster of live acts, and helping them get out on tour. Tommy Alexander is one of those industry linchpins who rarely stands in the spotlight, as he is too busy helping others, though he is clearly an artist who deserves some shine.

Kate Ellis – Scars (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“We introduce the wild single of Kate Ellis for a different than usual listening experience. Favourable Americana sound followed by boldly expressive vocals. Its strong energetic guitar patterns and catchy drums can also fulfil every expectation.”

-Nagamag.com

"There are all different sorts of love”, writer Blakney Francis once observed, “It can even become hate… really, hate is just another kind of caring.”

Scars is a dysfunctional love song about the fine line between love and hate in relationships. But in this story, even after the endless rinse and repeat cycles of stormy emotion, there's still love there in the end.

Scars is the lead single in the run-up to Americana artist Kate Ellis' much-anticipated sophomore album Spirals which will be released on Feb 4th, and was produced by the legendary John Reynolds (Sinéad O’Connor, Indigo Girls, Belinda Carlisle).

Amy Jay – Lucid Dreaming (Spotify)

“Delicate, sensual and insanely romantic vocals from -Amy Jay- dissolving like chocolate, in a beautiful melody and Indie Folk atmosphere. Intriguing music that can awaken a big bouquet of senses in the hearts of people.”

“Нежный, чувственный и безумно романтический вокал -Amy Jay- таит на руках словно долька шоколада, растворяясь в красивой мелодии и атмосфере indie folk. Интригующая музыка, которая способна пробудить огромный букет чувств в сердцах людей.”

(New York, NY) Awake Sleeper, the first full-length album by indie-folk artist Amy Jay was profoundly influenced by life in New York City. The new single, “Lucid Dreaming,” released today, was inspired by Jay’s time on the subway, observing those around her. LISTEN HERE.

https://hypeddit.com/u3c6bc

“I somehow ended up in the front subway car on the A express train zooming down Manhattan on my way to work, and was mesmerized by the prisms that were forming out of the double-paned window of the train door,” she says. “As I was in some sort of hypnotic, half asleep, morning commute state, I also picked up the smells of sunscreen and cigarettes, which was probably someone on their way to the beach. But it brought me straight back to a specific, vivid just-like-yesterday memory of a childhood pool party in Miami Lakes where I grew up. Contrasting that past memory with the current state of my mind asking, ‘Am I really an adult?’ and, ‘What is truth, does it even exist?’ is what brought me to write this song. It was a strange train ride.”

Exploring the boundaries between acoustic and synthetic, minimalist and ornate, Jay’s music echoes a breathtaking cross-pollination of introspective songcraft, surprising textures, and hypnotic soundscapes. Working with longtime friend and producer Jonathan Seale of Mason Jar Music, known for his work with Feist, Fleet Foxes, Aoife O’Donovan, and more, as well as his own solo efforts released under the moniker Son of Cloud, Jay gave life to her songs with an idiosyncratic sound equally informed by experimental electronica, classical music, and post-rock as it is by traditional acoustic folk songcraft.

Awake Sleeper is Jay’s first full-length release and follows two successful EPs, 2016’s Supposed to Be and 2018’s So It Is. Recorded in the fall and winter of 2019, in its own way, the album pre-imagines the city’s strange magic during the pandemic, its perpetual buzz lurking just below a sense of haunting solitude.

Having made Awake Sleeper in what now feels like a distant past, Amy Jay is looking firmly towards the future, driven to continually push her songcraft towards new terrain while still honoring her remarkable debut album with the attention and self-love it so rightly deserves.

“It’s complicated,” Jay says, “because obviously, I’m proud of this huge, monumental thing that I’m doing. I have to just remember it’s a time capsule, a glimpse into a life before the world crashed, snapshots of memories. We captured what was happening at the time, written in the past, relevant for today.”

Awake Sleeper will be released on February 11, 2022, and a video for “Lucid Dreaming,” is coming soon.

Louise Weseth – Woodlands (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Experience deep relaxation moments with the music company of Louise Weseth. Concentrate on the singer's elegant voice and escape from the city walls, somewhere far, in the Woodlands. Very artistic and balanced Indie Folk production which didn't leave us indifferent.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist said about this song:

"This is the first song I wrote for the EP, long before I thought about releasing my songs at all.

It’s about the heavy air between two people when there are so many things to be said but you don’t. About being the one who has to make things move.

I wrote the first draft of this song sitting on the floor in the basement of my family’s house in Horten during my last year of high school. I think it was October, and I had started practicing yoga a few months earlier. My yoga teacher would adjust the classes according to the moon cycles, and I was so fascinated by that and the moon in general. I was reading about the different meanings of the moon as a symbol, and found it so interesting how pretty much all cultures have their own interpretation of what the moon symbolizes.

In the song, I think of the moon as what makes the tides move. But also the moon as this intuitive and feminine force. And water as emotions and the unknown. Since the moon is such an open symbol it could mean pretty much anything, and I love how the lyrics might mean something completely different to someone else.

I recorded everything myself and then sent it over to Amelia Thornton, a violinist from Montana (she also plays violin and viola on Woodlands), who played some beautiful violin parts as well mandolin over it." - Louise Weseth

Saven – Tell Me When You Dream (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Have you ever wondered that a dream could be more real than reality itself? "Saven" sings with his elegant Folk style and invites us in a world of self-exploration. Do you realy know who you are or what you can achieve? Listen to this song and find out!”

-Nagamag.com

“Tell Me When You Dream” by “Saven” is a new folk song with an old fashioned 1950’s vibe that will make you think twice before you dismiss your dreams. Saven came up with the melody and lyrics just about seven years ago while walking through an airport terminal. The song is about going on a path of self-exploration and finding an inner truth on the edge of awareness.

https://www.savenmusic.com/

As the title of the song suggests, the song whisks you away to a dreamy sunset-like atmosphere with choir song, acoustic guitar and brushes played on a drum set. The simple electric guitar and light gentle tones from a xylophone feel like a night breeze and with the Elvis inspired vocals, it feels like you are being unwound and sung to sleep.

https://twitter.com/savenmusic

So have a listen to the song, give your dreams an extra thought, because there might be a truth that is shining through. Or is it just a dream?
