This piece was originally composed for solo piano and explores the way in which our subconscious minds influence our waking lives. A persistent dream can be a positive hope but also a fear or an omen. This version was arranged for 2 cellos, piano and double bass and tends towards the latter mood.

In many cultures across the world, birds of the corvid family such as ravens and crows have long been signifiers of loss and foreboding, and yet their symbolism is complex. As talking birds they can also represent prophecy and insight connecting the material world with that of the spirits.

This is the first track from the new album Etudes of the Crow and each piece will be presented in piano, orchestral and ambient versions, a concept that encourages innovation from the composer. The other 2 versions will be released in the coming weeks.

Secrets of Fire Band Release New Single ‘Runes’

Step into the Fire. Magic Inspires a New Mystical Release by Midlands Based Goth-Rock Act!

Birmingham, UK 2/9/2022 - Secrets of Fire (SoF) this week launch their hotly anticipated new single Runes. Recorded and mixed across two locations in 2022, the track is the first release from the band’s upcoming album. The song laments how the duo came together through their passion for music, and under the guidance of mysterious rune stones, it spurred them on to become SoF.

Runes delivers emotional, heart wrenching rock vocals that soar over a background of crashing indie-rock guitars.

“We aim to write beautiful songs with a dark edge and harmonious melodies. Powerful music that’s difficult to ignore” - Astrid, SoF

About:

SoF are Astrid (vocals) and River (guitars/production). Astrid’s name derives from her Nordic roots. Growing up in NZ and identifying as a witch from a young age, her mystical energy and charismatic vocals form the spiritual bedrock of SoF.

River is a prolific songwriter who’s recorded over 1000 songs. He brings the element of fire to SoF through a maze of layered guitar tones and uplifting musical soundscapes. Their two powers combine to create Secrets of Fire.

Imagine Britney meets Siouxsie Sioux fronting Foo Fighters, and you’d be half way there!

The band cite their influences as: Pixies, The Cure, Blondie, Nick Cave and filmmaker David Lynch. The duo embrace a DIY ethic as they write and record their own music as well as shoot and edit their own images and short films.

POLUN returns with a feature from singer/songwriter Anthony Arthur on uplifting single Over.

Having started off as a classically trained pianist obsessed with west-coast hip hop, Toronto-based POLUN (寶麟) sets himself apart with a sonic style rooted in versatility.

Under the producer/songwriter moniker Terence “TEE” Lam, he made his industry debut producing the 2014 Juno award-winning R&B/Soul record of the year, “Can’t Choose” by JRDN. Following that, he co-wrote on two Billboard Hot 100 hits—triple-platinum singles “Here” by Alessia Cara and “Too Good” by Drake ft Rihanna. Adept at jumping into any genre, TEE crossed over to produce for a few of K-pop’s biggest acts (EXO, Suho, D.O.) and wrote on songs for major electronic artists (Adventure Club, DVBBS, Kaskade x Meghan Trainor).

Most recently, his skilled production earned him credit on “U Should” by 2021 Best New Artist Grammy nominee CHIKA and he also co-produced and wrote the latest Bella Poarch single “Living Hell”.

Now, POLUN is ready to give the world more with “Trillium” – the debut EP inspired by his life’s journey. Creating an infectious sound that infuses unique pop melodies with emotionally charged beats, “Trillium” is an intimate soundscape featuring some of POLUN’s favourite collaborators.

As POLUN explains about his latest single ”Over”: “ “Over” with Anthony Arthur is a song about the all-consuming emotions that take over with the realization that against better judgment, you’ve given everything to someone whose heart isn’t in it anymore.”
