Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“A very flexible, professionally done work that incorporates the energy of Becky Hill’s vocals. Its dynamic EDM rhythms and beautiful arrangement, can blow up every dance floor!”

“Очень многосторонняя, выполненная на профессиональном уровне работа, вобравшая в себя энергетику вокала -Becky Hill-, динамичные ритмы EDM и прекрасную аранжировку, которая способна взорвать любой танцпол!”

-Nagamag.com

Today Brit-award winning singer, songwriter and dance music trailblazer Becky Hill releases her brand-new single “Run” with Galantis.

The release of “Run” comes hot on the heels of the release of “Here For You” (Becky’s collaboration with Wilkinson written specifically for his album), and her winning “Best Dance Act” at BRIT Awards 2022 earlier this month. The fan-voted Award (which saw a long-awaited return of the Dance category, after a 16-year hiatus) was presented to an ecstatic Becky by her past collaborators David Guetta (who has hailed her as “one of the very rare queens of dance of music”) and Pete Tong.

“Run” is Becky’s first collaboration with Swedish EDM group Galantis. “Run” is written by Becky Hill, MNEK and written/produced by Galantis and was teased by Becky on TikTok on 18th February.

“I’m so excited to release Run with Galantis.” says Becky. “I wrote it with my best friend MNEK who I’ve been writing with for 10 years and the magic I felt when we first wrote my single Losing back in 2012, I still feel to this day when writing with him. I feel like every single I release has the potential to better the last one and this is no different, especially with Galantis featuring on the record too. With their catalogue of hits with the likes of Little Mix and Years & Years I’m very proud to be a part of another huge collaboration with them. This next phase of my artistry is an extension of me fully coming out as a popstar, but this time with a BRIT Award in hand!”

The accompanying music video for “Run” is directed by Michael Holyk and was shot in Cape Town, South Africa. Packed with stunning landscape shots, vibrant textures and contrasting moods, its sees Becky escape the run-of-the-mill day-to-day, to enjoy a romance in sunnier climes.

Becky’s collaborators on “Run”, Galantis, have enjoyed wide acclaim after the release of their debut album Pharmacy which topped the Billboard Dance album chart, garnered numerous platinum and gold RIAA certifications and two Grammy Nominations. The much-in-demand duo have collaborated with everyone from Dolly Parton, (on their third album Church), and Little Mix and David Guetta (on their 2021 summer smash “Heartbreak Anthem” which debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes charts and spent 13 weeks in the Top 10 of the UK’s Official Chart top ten), to Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.

The first of a string of releases due from Becky this year, brand new single “Run” is set to further cement her reputation as the Queen of Dance music after an incredible 2021. The third most streamed British female solo artist on Spotify last year (behind Dua Lipa and Adele), with the fifth most streamed song by a British female (with “Remember”), the release of Becky’s Top 10 debut album Only Honest On The Weekend, saw her score five Official Chart Top 40 singles and bring her BPI certification total to 9 x platinum, 4 x gold and 1 x silver.

In addition to releasing more music, Becky has a packed live schedule planned for 2022. Having proven herself a festival line-up must-have in 2021 (with stand-out sets at Reading & Leeds and a headline slot at Camp Bestival to name but a few), and selling over 50,000 tickets for her sold-out nationwide headline Only Honest On The Weekend Tour, Becky has already announced she’ll be performing at Creamfields South, NASS Festival, Neighbourhood Weekender and Camp Bestival.

With an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart-smashing pop songs and a reputation as a pioneer in the electronic music scene, Becky Hill is one of Britain’s most in-demand musical exports. She has over 180 songs registered with ASCAP – no mean feat considering only 17% of PRS for Music’s registered songwriters are female – and an impressive string of hits to her name. Having written and performed on thirteen singles which charted in the Top 40 of the UK Official Singles Chart (including four top 10 singles and one number 1), Becky has now amassed over 3.2 billion total global streams and over 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

In August 2020, my solo album «You, Me & Everything Else» was released. This was an important first step towards musical independence after the Lovebugs had decided to indefinitely put their activities on hold two years earlier. My goal was to avoid the familiar, to explore my stylistic range and attempt unexpected collaborations. A risk that was rewarded. The album was well received by critics and fans alike and even made it into the top 10 of the official Swiss charts.

I would have loved to perform the new material on stage. However, when it became apparent that the pandemic would thwart these plans, I continued working on songs instead and started looking for the right kind of producer. When musician and sound designer Grégoire Pasquier (Shuttle) from Fribourg heard the demo recordings for the first time, it was ‘love at first synthesizer’, so to speak. Sound files and digital sketches were sent back and forth, and soon the first song resulted from this intimate, long-distance partnership: «It’s Serious», released at the end of 2021 and instantly chosen by SRF3 as their ‘Song of the Day’.

While the lockdown shook the foundation of my private life, writing new songs gave me stability. Undeterred I continued to play with my tunes and released four more singles in the first half of 2021: «Slave to the Algorithm, «Over My Head», «Luv U» and «Speakeasy». All these were published on my very own label «Some of My Best Friends Are Songs», and indeed they felt like best friends in the lonely everyday life of the pandemic. As a response to the isolation, Grégoires sound design became more and more open and epic the deeper he dove into it. Carried by analogue drum machines and other electronic equipment from the early 1980s, the new songs found its way to the ears and hearts of fans, blogs and radios alike.

Inspired by the positive feedback and the prospect of performing my favorite songs in a one-off concert in 2022 on the occasion of my 50th birthday, it soon became clear that my journey shouldn’t stop with these five songs. The singles «Were We Every So Young?» and «When We Were Friends», the sensitive «Alphabet of Love», the pulsating title track and three other ‘best friends’ now complete the album, which will be released on April 22 under the title «Unglued». An album that came together while everything else came unglued.

“Трансформация вокала на протяжение всего трека поражает своим масштабом. Тёплый и ласковый в куплете, он преображается в припеве до неузнаваемости, разрывая все мыслимые и немыслимые шаблоны. Мощный трек, с невероятной энергетикой!”

“It has attitude and yet its alluring all in one. Beats pretty dope and we enjoy the bass drops. Foundation of the rhythm is well put together and complexity of the production process is evident. We dig her sweet, charming voice but know it’s a mask. ”

Tessa will be back on the road this year as direct support for UK indie-pop singer-songwriter, Cavetown. Together, they will traverse 25 U.S. markets beginning March 22. Tessa has also confirmed a run of 2022 festival dates including a performance at January's 8123 Fest and an upcoming performance at Bottlerock.

Tessa's 2019 independently released debut album, Bad Ideas, has paved a foundation that has solidified her place among the top rising artists in alternative pop. The album earned Tessa a spot on Spotify’s Times Square billboard along with a Genius ‘Verified,’ not to mention over 250 million aggregate streams on her hit single “Crush.”

Stymied by the pandemic and her planned album tour off the table, Tessa blazed a path of her own through 2020/21, reworking several singles off Bad Ideas, including collaborations with MisterWives on “Bored” and Chloe Moriondo on “Words Ain’t Enough." Tessa's standout rework of single "Games" featuring L.A. indie rock outfit lovelytheband and its Twilight-inspired video saw love from the likes of PAPER, LADYGUNN, and Hollywood Life. Single “Wishful Drinking” also received a spotlight on the heels of Tessa's massive TikTok trend that now has over 225k unique videos.

On the live side, Tessa kept eager fans engaged with the launch of an exclusive livestream event - 'Bad Ideas: The Experience' - which took place in May 2021 as a final celebration of Bad Ideas. Tessa also collaborated on a string of livestream performances with outlets such as SPIN, Bandsintown, and EARMILK and even garnered an 'Artist of the Week' designation by Live Nation / Ones To Watch featuring a performance on the Live Nation Instagram.

Watch closely in the coming months; “YES MOM” is only the beginning of a whole new era for Tessa Violet.

Growing up an only child in a small town, Tessa always had a deep desire to create authentic connections with people. YouTube was the first platform which allowed her to foster those connections and, as the world moves ever more digital, Tessa continues to spearhead the building of online artist communities and often collaborates with other artists through live streams.

Raised in Oregon, Tessa eventually moved to Nashville where she began to focus on songwriting, sparking her shift towards a career in music. Now based in Los Angeles, Tessa has remained independent and continues to showcase her fiery delivery and masterful lyricism, commanding the world to know her name.

Tessa has also established herself as a captivating, fearless live frontwoman, catapulting her otherwise spunky, eclectic recordings to an intoxicating new level of raw, unabashed rock. She and her shredding live band have sold out headline tours in the U.S. and Europe, joined AJR, COIN, and Misterwives on direct support tours, and crushed a debut festival performance at Lollapalooza.

Emily Shirley – The Last Time (Spotify)

“The famous Emily Shirley is here with another interesting single. Moving forward in the Electro Pop scene, she shares a heartwarming story with her audience. Those captivating vocals and lyrics coming straight from the heart, couldn't leave us indifferent.”

Emily Shirley’s brand of thoughtful songwriter pop/rock is as finely tuned and brightly colored as the graphic design projects she works on for her day gig. Her latest release, DuoTone, is a genre-bending hybrid of indie-pop melodies woven over thoughtful, grounded lyrics. It represents the full, vibrant sonic image of a writer who has come into her own in the Austin, Texas scene.

A Connecticut native, Emily was steeped in church choir, musical theater, and Debbie Gibson at a young age. Classically trained on piano and a veteran of high school and college semi-pro acapella choirs, she found her place as a vocalist and writer when she joined the Boston based band Amun Ra as the lead singer, touring their soulful pop songwriting with breakbeats and electronica to clubs across the Northeast. They released 2 full length albums in her 6 years with them.

In 2006, Emily moved to Austin, Texas and realigned her musical existence. Starting over in a new city without a band as well as juggling her graphic design business and being a mom, “I had to carve out my solo space and find a way to let music work with my lifestyle,” she notes. She fell in love with the piano again and began writing and gigging; she released her EP Tiny Truths in 2010, produced by Daniel Barrett (Ruthie Foster, Susan Gibson). Reviewsic described the EP’s sound as “executed with the same old-meets-new-quirkiness of Feist.” In 2013 she found her band again, joining Austin favorite The Belle Sounds on piano, synth, and vocals. She's toured Texas and the West Coast with The Belle Sounds, performing in esteemed venues like Strange Brew in Austin and The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.

Most recently, Emily released a series of singles that culminated in the release of her 2015 EP DuoTone, now available as a limited edition disc. Featuring songs produced by Mark Hallman (Carole King, Ani DiFranco) and Daniel Barrett, DuoTone displays Emily's ability to illuminate scenes and landscapes through sound. "Suffering Soul" has a sonic palette that drops the listener in the middle of the desert, parched and desperate, searching for salvation. “Starstruck” brings a swinging piano and brassy horns to themes of nostalgia for more innocent artistic times, and hints to her list of musical influences like Nellie McKay and Rufus Wainwright. Emily Shirley’s artistic point of view and skillful sonic experimentation make for a varied and stirring repertoire. “My formative years are still happening,” she jokes when describing her musical life, the honest response of a musician and creator always on the lookout for the next spark.
