R3HAB teams up with UK sensations Sigala and JP Cooper for their collaboration “Runaway,” a stunning coming-of-age saga that fuses the best of dance and pop. The song reflects each artist’s signature sound, from R3HAB’s dynamic and high-energy style and Sigala’s radio-friendly beats to JP Cooper’s soulful vocals. Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Launching his career with “Easy Love,” a sampling track that topped the charts in the UK in 2015, he continued releasing bright, sunny dance-pop tunes featuring a variety of guest vocalists and producers. His 2018 full-length album “Brighter Days” included collaborations with Kylie Minogue, Craig David, Sean Paul, and Nile Rodgers, among many others. Subsequent tracks featuring Becky Hill (“Wish You Well”) and James Arthur (“Lasting Lover”) continued his run of UK Top Ten hits. In 2019 Sigala released the single “We Got Love” featuring Ella Henderson. Another song with Becky Hill – “Heaven on My Mind,” appeared in 2020, and “Lasting Lover” with James Arthur became Sigala’s 8th single to chart in the UK Top Ten. His latest single “You For Me” with Rita Ora, proved to be yet another Summer smash of 2021.

JP Cooper has done the legwork. Ten years in bands in and around his Manchester hometown. Multiple songs written on his own and with a variety of collaborators, a couple of which became global hits-that-will-not-die: “Perfect Strangers” with Jonas Blue and his own “September Song,” which is now sitting at some 600M streams. An international solo career built on pure songcraft. And he’s done the business. The singer/songwriter’s 2017 debut album “Raised Under Grey Skies” has sold in old-fashioned numbers: 1M copies at time of writing. His 11M monthly Spotify listeners have contributed to a grand total of 4B total streams. And, over the past 18 months, Cooper has done the hardest thing: built on all that to create a second album, a collection of 13 songs that work as together and work apart, that out-paces, out-sings and, by his exacting standards, out-classes his debut.

Ian Abel released his newest single, “All I Want Is You,” a devilish and disorienting love song just in time for the world’s #shotgirlsummer hangover.

“All I Want Is You” is a chaotic, unexpected mashup of genres and references: Abel’s sultry, soulful vocals are layered over a funk bassline, 80s synthesizers, distorted rock guitars, and background vocals inspired by Steely Dan and David Bowie... all folded into a twistingly dark synth-pop confection.

“I wanted to write something you could listen to over and over and keep discovering new sounds, layers, and meanings,” says Abel. “More than that, though, I wanted to capture the feeling of out-of-control, delusional obsession. I really relate to that feeling [chuckle].”

Underlying the track is its demented queer narrative, which is expanded upon in Abel’s irreverent DIY lyric video, where he messages the lyrics to anonymous, faceless men on the gay dating app Grindr.

“All those headless torsos on the apps are such teases,” remarked Ian. “Why not have a little fun and tease them back?”

Ian Abel (pronounced “able”) is, at the bottom of it all, a queer comic book nerd with a heart of gold. With an oh-so-smooth velvety voice and sensual, psychedelic electro-pop arrangements, he’s like if Sam Smith met Robyn or Jessie Ware met James Blake, all with a side of Peter Gabriel. He’s not just your standard indie voice.

For well over a decade, Ian has been an artist and performer. He has performed around the world and with greats like Nile Rodgers, Jimmy Fallon, and the SNL band. He has sung onstage at Carnegie Hall, on Chinese national television, and in festivals in Sun Valley, New York, and Edinburgh. Currently, Ian resides in New York City, where he hopes to get back to performing live soon.

“Boxing Underwater” sees the pair – comprising Jay Bainbridge and Matt Bartlem – working with US artist Cailin Russo to create the uplifting, melodic single which sees razor-sharp production, slick musicianship, and clever lyrical turns coming together to create an impressive pop tune. Co-written with Jarryd James, Golding explains that its arrival is something of a special moment for the pair, having admired James’ work for many years.

“Jarryd has always been a huge inspiration and someone I’ve looked up to as an artist,” Bainbridge explains. “He’s always encouraged me to explore my musical freedoms and demonstrated the idea of ‘you can do anything’, there’s no rules in songwriting. To finally be creating in a room with him was a special moment for me.”

Likewise, Bainbridge looks at their collaboration with Cailin Russo as the missing piece that the track needed, with her almost ethereal voice managing to seamlessly lay atop a hypnotic instrumental bed, taking it from an impressive tune to a world-beating classic.

“We didn’t realise that the song could grow even more until Cailin came on to feature,” Bainbridge explains. “I’ve been a fan of Cailin’s music for years and have always had her in the back of my mind as someone I’d like to work with. Her vocals really helped set the tone and the mood of the song, all the pieces fell into place.”

With the meaning of the track itself is kept somewhat vague on purpose, the accompanying video clip adds something in the way of context. With Nicholas Stevens on filming and directorial duties, the video is a beautifully engaging piece of work that complements the track perfectly.

“It was really important to us to show varying sides of relationships, not just the good but the bad too,” Bartlem notes. “We wanted to capture the emotion of a real relationship so we were lucky enough to have real-life couple Mikalah and Zohar star in the clip, you can truly feel the love and chemistry between them as you watch the video unfold.”

"”It’s almost like those times before were the golden days.”

Those words came from someone who gradually became a passing acquaintance in my life. He was alluding that our early days of friendship were better than the months after when we had succumbed to the heart as brief lovers. So I asked myself: had this period of my life really been fractured into two eras? Was either time period ever golden? Or could all of it have been?

While this song may have been inspired by the musings of a past connection, I realized that there have been many times I’ve separated my life into their own golden eras. Instead of viewing life as one conscious stream of events that are constantly building upon each other, we pinpoint these life changing moments and chase those perceived golden days with white-knuckled resistance. That’s when I decided to dust off my guitar after a 5 year hiatus from music and wrote Golden."
