‘Unframed’ the newest single by Dutch singer-songwriter Joost Laméris. It’s an indie/chillpop song in which Joost is manifesting his ideal life. The song is released after his previous single ‘Never Feels Real’ which has been played on the radio various times. Joost also sang ‘Never Feels Real’ live on television show ‘Joris Live!’ during pride week, which is aired on various TV channels including OutTV.

In ‘Unframed’ Joost Laméris creates a utopia and sings about how he sees himself in the future. Through atmospheric sounds he sings about a future version of himself that doesn’t limit himself and who has fulfilled his current dreams and ambitions. Simultaneously ‘Unframed’ paints a picture of a better world in which “the seas are golden and the people glowing” and “the acid rain’s benign”. With a strong guitar lead and dreamy vocals with choir backings, the song is also meant as a wake up call. ‘Unframed’ is a reminder for Joost that he is in control over his future and that his current decisions have a great impact on what his future will look like.

In the artwork of ‘Unframed’ Joost Laméris is holding his own face with a hand that looks futuristic through accessories. Through that, the artwork is symbolically expressing the meaning of the song: Joost in the future is in control of where Joost in the present looks and what he focusses on.
