Sitting down with her close friends at the end of her first semester at NYU, ‘Strangers’ came from a conversation reflecting on changing relationships. Lyrics kept writing themselves as people went around the room sharing their stories. Over the next few months the track was finished and produced out and ‘Strangers’ was born. Mercer began to tease the track on Tik Tok and it connected very quickly. Though the song was written during the cold weather, the final production made the track feel more geared towards Summer. Over the past few months Mercer has continued to grow the social presence of the song through shortform video. It was clearly evident that people connected with the track. Mercer was shocked as people began to duet her Tik Toks and create UGCs using the ‘Strangers’ audio sharing their own stories about friendship breakups. Pre-release, the song has amassed over 15k pre-saves across platforms and nearly 4M views across social platforms.

‘Strangers’ was created with a number of talented producers, the first demo was created by Stephen Dawes, then Lucas Sim came in and flushed out the track, the track was then brought to the finish line by Cameron Hale and Joe Avio. The long anticipated single was released on June 23rd.
