Saafi Brothers – Mantra Dub

Categories: Psychill, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Dubby Basslines with awesome atmospheric Strings and Dreamy sequences. Saafi brothers delivers a gateway to another musical psychedelic experience. Packed with percussion and great sound design ”

-Nagamag.com

Make Pictures With The Sound’ is the brand new album by the Saafi Brothers on UK label Liquid Sound Design.

The release title is inspired by a quote from legendary British music producer John Leckie, who lends his voice on opening track ‘Beautiful Satellite’. With this album the Saafi Brothers do just that; make pictures with the sound, taking us on a breathtaking journey through their universe of sound, spiralling out from their deep roots in the Psychedelic Dub genre.

Keeping alive the Saafi Brothers’ reputation for chilled out eclecticism, the musical and emotional range for which they are renowned is very much in evidence here. From the rainforest tinged Dub Funk of ‘Ritualized Space’, through the epic deep Techno Sci-Fi soundscape of ‘In Far Away Places’ to the wigged out Acid House of ‘The Possibility of Change’, the album has much to offer for any connoisseur of contemporary Electronica.’

Komory -Secrets

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“So fresh! That beat seems to catch us instantly. The heavily vocoded vocals are done well, good filters and stretched accordingly. We bounced along to that beat with the proper clap, thinking about that West Coast sunset this embodied. ”

-Nagamag.com

Either let ‘Secrets’ occupy the space around you, or dive into its lustrous vision cruising on a cloud. Like an application of sweet-smelling aftersun when the need to cool off takes over, Komory’s EDM-scented chillout on Be Yourself Music mixes up long synth streaks with passages of playful, twittering keys. The follow-up to ‘Complicated’ bursts into colour before starting over from the end of the rainbow, acting cheeky, coy, confident and encouraging, and forwarding plenty of eyes-across-the-room groove within the calm.

The name Komory originates from the Japanese term ‘Hikikomori’, describing the act of withdrawing from social engagement and where adults seek intense degrees of isolation and confinement. This might sound like no accident given the events of the last few years, but Komory strongly believe this type of self-imposed segregation is a fundamental driving force behind their creative process and hence signature sound.

With cards kept close to their chest as they let the music speak for itself, Komory’s fusion of electronic, futuristic and melodic arts and inspirations have made them hot property. All chrome-finished R&B, neon-lit EDM, AI technology and minimalism shouting the loudest when it comes to tropical blooms, Komory offer a visual complement alongside what they describe as "the next generation of music performance".

Their ethos may speak for the secluded and titles such as ‘Complicated’ and ‘Secrets’ indicate deeper thought processes, but Komory also understand the need for instant enjoyment, their synthetic sentiments in tune with today’s audiences that are all about the here and now as much as they sound primed for and from the future.

Downtempo pop trio GIVVEN's single, 'Losing Colours', out today via Bias Beach Records.

https://lnk.to/GIVVEN-LosingColours

International trio GIVVEN has released their latest single, ‘Losing Colours’ on the 10th of February. The single is the title track for their upcoming audiovisual EP which will be released on the 24th of March via Bias Beach Records. The EP will feature three unique songs with music videos shot in the beautiful landscapes of Iceland, the first of which, ‘Taking On Water’, was already released and accompanied by a gloomy blue-tinted video. One-third of the trio is Adrian Held, part of the renowned Klangkarussell duo. GIVVEN released their hit debut single, ‘Ghostkeeper’ with Klangkarussell in early 2020 which has reached over 6,6 million views to date, followed by several more singles which would collect over 50 million plays across platforms with support across a wide variety of international publications and radio stations.

The trio is comprised of Adrian Held who is from Austria and based in Berlin, Germany, Jordan Haller who is also from Austria and currently based in Toronto, Canada and Nikodem Milewski who is from Poland and based in Vienna. Nikodem Milewski is also responsible for mixing and mastering the EP and has previously worked with the likes of Robin Schulz and Gryffin, amongst others.

In the early stages of the GIVVEN project, the band used the likes of Jai Paul for inspiration however, more recently they’ve begun to also turn to the works of Bon Iver and James Blake. In turn, their own texturally rich sound will find itself at home next to the laidback likes of Chet Faker, Son Lux and James Blake.

The trio take lush textures and paint them against a backdrop of grief, finding ways to layer the metaphorically monochromatic grey emotion against a rolling bassline and vocal echoing remnants. Acoustic elements lend a gentle tone while the spacey, soaring choruses convey the raw pain found within the lyrics.

Speaking of the single, GIVVEN tell us: "We're incredibly proud of ‘Losing Colours’. From the writing to production, it all took months to dial in and get perfect but we think you can really feel the time and love we put into this one when you listen to the track. Every little detail in lyrics and melody and sound design was meticulously thought out and dialled in. For the vocal production, I was inspired by a song called "Stories" by "Refs" and how they automated the formant shifting of their vocals in the second verse. I thought that was such a cool way to play with vocal delivery so I took the concept and built on it a little and brought that to the verses of ‘Losing Colours’ to give the vocals a new way to twist and turn and kind of keep the listener off-balance."

Joshua Mbewe – professionally known as Laxcity – is a Sheffield, UK-based, Ndola, Zambia-born artist whose imaginative music draws on textured and intricate soundscapes to create immersive electronica with emotional resonance.

Laxcity’s debut LP, Catharsis, issued in 2018, is a moving project coloured by orchestral influencers that would set the stage for continued blends of high-octane electronica and oftentimes wistful, ambient and cinematic scores. A pair of 6-track EPs, Purity (2019) and Disconnect (January, 2021), would follow; he also issued a retrospective mixtape in May. 2021 has seen him land the cover of Spotify’s “Dance Rising” (2M) and “creamy” (700K); play Porter Robinson’s “Secret Sky”; tour with DROELOE in EU; release a collaborative single with acclaimed rising star Moore Kismet, and a single with San Holo’s bitbird imprint as part of its Gouldian Finch 4 compilation. AEG also booked his first ever headline show which will take place January 27, 2022 in London.

Newly independent, “melodies from heaven” captures the now-unmistakable Laxcity sound, with its whirring synths, sonic polish, and healing, invigorating energy. It’s the lead single from his second album and most ambitious project to date.

Rookley – Run (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“Its like running through a hallway filled with robots in a dream full of vivid colors. They have a beat to transfer to us on this journey. Its technology and its alive showing us its true underground flavors. ”

-Nagamag.com

"Run" is the first Single of Rookley's debut LP "Playground" which is going to be released over the Berlin Label AIMEND in Spring 2022.

PreOrder here:https://rookley.bandcamp.com/

The sound aesthetics of 'Playground' wants to restore Rookley’s dimension, made of dark, isolated environments, which echo his inner world. Where introspection is combined with the anger and anxiety of those who do not feel at ease in the here and now. Victim and executioner of an imprint made of dissatisfaction and the constant search for a peace that does not come. In the darkness and the discomfort, there is tension and, at the same time, warm abandonment, reassurance. The care for sounds and evoked emotions is the result of research aimed at achieving the exact representation of visceral, intimate, and extremely sincere sensations. There are no filters, everything is authentic, exposed living flesh, made up of significant experiences, alienation, nostalgia for an unwritten future. The language is personal and hermetic, but never encrypted.

The record is beautifully mixed by the renowned mixing Engineer Fransessco Dornadello (Thom York, Modeselektor, Chernobyl Soundtrack, Mouse on Mars, Johan Johannson).
