“Soft and alluring this piece is a supreme example of classical overtones that meet the modern. Once can easily imagine beauty and feel the emotions attached to the composition. Well done the masters would be proud. ”

“-Neoclassical Piano Music- is the sunrise after a long rain and following the gray clouds, its first blinding rays appear. Incredible beauty of execution and real grace, like a breath of air after a long sleep.”

“-Neoclassical piano music- это восход солнца после долгого и продолжительного дождя, когда из-за серых туч проступают его первые и ослепляющие лучи. Невероятной красоты исполнение и настоящая грация, словно глоток воздуха после продолжительного сна.”

Whale Fall – It Will Become Itself (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“-It Will Become Itself- is one of those works that make us think about many things. A deep, melancholic journey to the artist's world, who with trepidation and love shares the flow of feelings with us. Soaring as if weightless, that piano melody introduces into a state of trance. Impressive!”

“-It Will Become Itself- одно из тех произведений, которые заставляют задумываться о многом. Глубокое, меланхоличное путешествие в мир автора, который с трепетом и любовью делится с нами поток чувств. Парящая, словно в невесомости мелодия фортепиано вводит в состояние транса. Впечатляет!”

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Whale Fall is an instrumental group featuring traditional rock instrumentation interfused with more pastoral strokes of piano, brass instruments, cello, and a touch of analog synth.

Their most recent fourth album, "It Will Become Itself," was recorded in an act of spontaneous composition in real-time on the night of June 4, 2018. The five tracks (intended as one extended piece) flow and relate to one another, as thematic and musical ideas are introduced and carried forward throughout the entirety of the album. While a departure both creatively and musically, the album fits coherently into their total catalog; featuring strong dynamic drumming, textural melodic interplay of piano and guitars, and soaring horn and cello work.

Gianluca Piacenza is an italian composer, pianist and sound designer.

After 2 year of private piano lessons when he was 6 years old, he began studying music at his hometown conservatory graduating with full marks in Classical Piano and Composition.

Today he works as music producer at Red Couch Studio, an inspirational space in which analog and digital equipment, acoustic and electronic instruments are equally important to develop a unique sonic signature. Alongside his academic path he attended piano courses and masterclasses with Sergio Fiorentino, Bruno Canino, Michele Marvulli, Alexander Lonquich, François-Joël Thiollier and Konstantin Scherbakov, constantly growing as classical pianist and expanding an already large repertoire ranging from Bach and Scarlatti to Cage, Ligeti, Pärt and many other contemporary composers.

Winner and finalist in national and international competitions, he appears in concerts both as soloist and as chamber music partner. Influenced by both the great tradition of classical music and the electronica/ambient scene, in 2014 began working on his first album “Dream”, an emotional and cinematic work in which he experiments with acoustic piano and live electronics interaction.

His sonic world could be described as a blend of acoustic textures, recorded and processed live in many different ways, and electronic soundscapes, created manipulating natural sounds and programming synthesizers and samplers.

“A walk among the rhythmic meadows of complex Jazz inspired riffs. They flow seamlessly together like the rivers of time. ”

Artist shared with Nagamag a very instersting story behind song inspiration:

"As we grow we reach moments in our life in which we make mistakes. In which we challenge the principles that work as the foundation of who we are and that eventually continue to build our character. I think there are times in everybody’s life in which we question our own nature. In this particular case I want to convey a specific emotion that I have felt.

It starts with me and a friend spending some time at his house. We drink and end up going out. We end up drinking more and spending money.

At the moment I was unaware or didn't care of the consequences, I just continued behaving as if I owned a world that I didn’t earn myself. But it really did hit me the moment I opened my eyes the next day. For starters, I used my fathers money. He found out of course.

At this moment I felt absolutely lost. First of all I was embarrassed and assumed my dads perception of me had changed completely. I was uncomfortable around my family because of it. I also felt like I had lost whatever innocence I had left in me and that I was turning into someone without proper direction. I felt like the child that wished for the moon was gone and had turned into something else. Something I didn’t like.

A few weeks later, I was sitting down in my pijamas, playing a Nintendo game called Pikmin. After playing it for a couple of hours I realized that for a very short period of time, I didn't think about it at all. In fact I didn't think about anything at all. I was enjoying the game, and it was the most childlike experience I have had in a while. It made me happy. And it was not the video game itself, but the idea that I was still me, and that I am in control of the decisions I make from now on. It was not a matter of neglecting whatever I had done, it was a matter of learning from it. Trying to become the best possible version of myself and be conscious of my ideas and principles and live by them.

I thought it would be a good way to end the record because I believe we are born children, and that in a lot of cases we live our lives pursuing feeling like children again. NOT being children, but feeling like children.

The level of the video game I was playing then was named "Garden of Hope". "
