Diane Arkenstone – Safe in the Angel’s Wing (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , , |

“A beautiful, relaxing piece of music to help you to meditate, heal or simply chill out. Perfect for background music to study to, or indeed to turn up the volume & become immersed in the virtuosity of the performance. A soft piano intro leading into gentle orchestration. Diane is without doubt an accomplished musician & this track is testimony to that.”

-Nagamag.com

Iconic songwriter, producer and business owner, Diane Arkenstone’s new instrumental single “Safe in the Angel’s Wing.” For three decades Arkenstone has been a pioneering multi-instrumentalist in the New Age genre having released a number of hugely popular albums on her own record label, Neo Pacifica since the early 90’s. She’s best known for her soulfully meditative and heartfelt instrumental recordings that have garnered millions of streams on platforms such as Amazon Music. The new album and music releasing this year continue this focus on instrumental recordings, with this new music meant to help people heal and relax.

For every project Arkenstone sets her mind to, there’s a truly sincere inspiration and with The Healing Heart, it’s a document of her journey as a heart surgery patient having endured operation after operation. Through it all she’s kept her focus on maintaining an optimistic outlook living her life based on the wellness principles she’s practiced her entire life, and that are truly reflected in her music. The term New Age is almost obsolete now, and Diane prefers to just follow her sincere artistic impulses which inevitably are centered on nurturing a sense of health and well-being.

Listen and watch the video to her new single “Safe In The Angel’s Wing” here: https://youtu.be/mP272mu57h0

The gorgeously impressionistic video is by Haley Monson—a frequent collaborator.

Says Arkenstone: “‘Safe in the Angel’s Wing’ was written after recovery from a 3rd pacemaker implant that did not go well. Minutes after the pacemaker was in, I went into cardiac arrest when one of the ventricles in the heart was not getting paced. The doctors rushed me back into the OR for more surgery, and although I was unconscious, I felt I was awake and being protected in an Angel’s Wing during the procedure. The image has stayed with me and is the inspiration for this song.”

Says Monson about the inspiration for the video: “Diane’s song led me to a thoughtful and meditative space, something that evoked the play of childhood and the mystery of the forest. By exploring pieces of the outdoors under the microscope, I was able to create a guided exploration into a world highlighted with ethereal charcoal accents. I collected moss, mushrooms, bark, stones, gems, acorns, etc. from a park I frequented in my childhood youth. I hope to create a tiny world of play and magic.

ABOUT DIANE ARKENSTONE

For well over 20 years, musician Diane Arkenstone has gained worldwide acclaim with her extensive repertoire of distinctive instrumental recordings which garnered much success within the ambient, health and wellness circles. Arkenstone has incredible success with Neo Pacifica, the independent label she launched in the late 90’s. Yet at heart, the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist–who recalls penning her first song at age three, four years before she first picked up an acoustic guitar—has always been a soulful storyteller, passionate and artful at weaving emotions through a perfect blend of graceful melodies and poetic words.

Arkenstone’s ongoing flow of songwriting energy also stems in part from a wealth of unique life experiences, including everything from the joys and heartbreaks of love to a lifetime of hardship and survival due to various medical ailments related to the complete AV block in her heart. Having recently had open heart surgery and the installation of her sixth pacemaker, and enduring 34 surgeries for heart, lung and kidneys starting in her early childhood, she is very much in tune with the sacredness of life; in 2004, she was an official spokesperson for the American Heart Association. One of the reasons Arkenstone took up guitar as a child was the fact that she could hold it close to her chest and feel the healing vibration of the strings and the wood against her body. While she trained as an opera singer and started singing in local clubs around Central California when she was 16, she ultimately chose modern instrumentals as a musical pathway because it was so “beautiful and healing for me.”

Arkenstone’s success in that genre and the related realms of Celtic, global and Native American music is unparalleled, both as a recording artist and label/owner entrepreneur. Having seen the difficulties her then-husband and frequent musical partner David Arkenstone was having being treated and compensated fairly by the labels he had signed with, Diane—without any formal business training—launched Neo Pacifica Recordings and her publishing company Mulamu Music, with the simple goal of releasing their own music.

She has never let the lines of genre stop her from exploring the depths of music and where it can take her.

Simon Field – Don’t Wanna Go [Lyric Video] (Video)

Categories: Electronica, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“It’s not trance, but it is euphoric and has a four to the floor kick pattern. Without doubt, ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ is destined to fill dance floors in clubs everywhere. This superbly mastered track by the celebrated Norwegian producer Simon Field, is focused on not wanting someone you care about to leave after a happy time spent together. The smooth male vocal reflects this emotion, as does the happy/sad, catchy melody. An Ibiza playlist track for sure.”

-Nagamag.com

Leading independent UK label Perfect Havoc welcomes back Norwegian veteran DJ and producer Simon Field with his new single ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ out 16th April. Following up on ‘So Cold’ with Adam Griffin and Clare Sophia released earlier this year, this latest single is the perfect ‘dream yourself back to the dancefloor’ track with emotive vocals and stunning synth work synonymous in all Field’s deep house productions. With over 80 million streams globally and as a Spotify curator with more than 400K fans following his Ibiza Deep House playlist, Simon Field bounces out of lockdown with an abundance of creativity in this latest outing.

Stream it now via all platforms: https://perfecthavoc.lnk.to/dontwannago

An awarded producer and songwriter, Field has a distinct sound produced entirely through analogue gear from his studio in Oslo. His highlight collabs and releases on Perfect Havoc include ‘Is It Real?’ with Tobtok & Oliver Nelson feat. Salena Mastronnani (6 million streams) and ‘Shake The Tree’ (14 million streams), while his official remixes include such high profile names as Nina Simone and Kelis.

Champions of Field’s sound span DJ A-listers Tiësto, Hardwell, Lost Frequencies, David Guetta, Ridney and Benny Benassi, and tastemakers on the airwaves where he receives regular spins on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM from Scott Mills, Majestic, Joel Corry, and Mistajam, as well as in his homeland in Norway on Kiss and NRJ.

From the clubs to the TV and the Big Screen, Field’s music has been featured in US TV series, Californication and Ugly Betty, in the Academy Award nominated film, Passengers, and in the latest Netflix series Elite, which saw the track chart on Shazam and iTunes and in multiple countries including Spain, Mexico, Germany and many more.

Field is onto another winner with this latest single. ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ kicks off with a melancholic vocal as the male voice sings about not wanting to be alone, yet there’s an overtone of optimism as melodic synths and rolling drums push the track onwards to a place of euphoria. It’s hard to predict what dancefloors will sound like when clubs open up again in hot spots like Ibiza and LA, but with the clean production of Field at work on this release and its feeling of hopefulness, expect this to be soundtracking many a dancefloor, soon.

On the inspiration behind the track, Simon Field said, “Don’t Wanna Go expresses the dark emotion of loneliness that you get following an encounter of happiness or from departing with someone that matters in your life. It’s about that feeling of not wanting to let go of someone and yearning for them to stay another night.”

‘Don’t Wanna Go’ is another strong addition to the Perfect Havoc catalogue from its roster that also includes the double platinum selling Swedish producer Tobtok, Mahalo, Karen Harding, Kokiri and Parx. The label and management agency has a fast-rising status underlined by earning five UK Top 10s and platinum certified records, including Joel Corry & MNEK ‘Head & Heart’ (No.1), Joel Corry, RAYE and David Guetta ‘Bed’ (No.6) and a top 20 hit with PS1 ft Alex Hosking ‘Fake Friends’ (No.19). With an acute ear for both underground and mainstream hits, Perfect Havoc has licensed cool house cuts to Toolroom Records and Kitsune, and to majors including Atlantic and Columbia. The future is very bright for this forward thinking label.

Kowloon – Hurt (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Blogwave, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Soft electronic single from the Los Angeles artist "Kowloon". Inspired by his hometown he shows his talent with this organized production. Smooth and friendly sound waves. Warm and pleasant singing mood. All found in "Hurt".”

-Nagamag.com

First single from Kitsune Musiques upcoming Kitsune America compilation. Kowloon’s “Hurt” is a song inspired by Los Angeles in the 70’s - by the earthiness and honesty of the Laurel Canyon scene, and by the pop and lifestyle excesses that ultimately spelled its downfall at the close of that decade. It’s a song of the desert wind, of the twinkling lights of the Los Angeles basin, a song of the gently lapping waves at dusk. The gentle fender rhodes and fender vocals channel Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, and the vulnerable lyrics owe her songwriting a debt as well. The bassline, however, comes from the nightclubs of the era - A pulsating disco throb that propelled the end of the decade into the excess of the eighties. It is a song about the validity of ones feelings, about finding strength, about setbacks and triumphs. There is a very Los Angeles feeling, when one is stuck in interminable traffic, on a hot afternoon. You learn to find a unique joy in this annoyance - you roll down your window, turn up the radio, and feel the breeze on your sweaty skin. Perhaps the song playing is “Hurt.”

Hurt was written, played, performed and mixed by Kowloon, and produced alongside Florida visual-artist and producer Offbeat Ninja.

https://www.instagram.com/officialkowloon

Kowloon is a musician and filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. His debut album, ‘Come Over’, was written, performed, recorded and mixed in his home-studio in the industrial outskirts of the city. Blending vintage synths, drum machines, and bubbling bass lines with vocals inspired equally by The Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, and Sly Stone, ‘Come Over’ is 35 minutes of danceable love songs - albeit love songs set in a time of digital malaise and looming ecological catastrophe, with anxious, dread-filled lyrics that are as timely as they are post-apocalyptic.

Everything about this track screams excellence, from the gorgeous vocals, to the sumptuous sound palette, to the infectious rhythm. Bingo Players & Oomloud will more likely ‘Grab & Stay’ and for for quite a while too.”

-Nagamag.com

Hoxton-based label Perfect Havoc welcomes the platinum certified producer Bingo Players, and house duo Oomloud with their latest collaborative single ‘Touch & Go’. These Dutch megaproducers only release music to the highest standard as seen by Bingo Players’ slew of hits over the last decade like the UK #1 charting single ‘Rattle’, top 40 global anthem ‘Cry (Just A Little)’ and more recently, the heavily supported Oomloud collab ‘Brighter Days’. ‘Touch & Go’ is guaranteed to make any dancefloor jump with its 90’s inspired house production and a vocal that cuts through any noise, written by Carla Monroe of MK ‘2AM’ and ‘17’.

This anthem is out now– stream here via all platforms: https://perfecthavoc.lnk.to/touchgo

Bingo Players needs little introduction. For over a decade, Maarten Hoogstraten has been dominating dancefloors and singles charts around the world with a style of dance music that has seen fans in their masses flock to sets at major festivals around the globe like Coachella, Tomorrowland, EDC Vegas and more. With his DJ/production partner and lifelong friend Paul Bäumer, Bingo Players had huge success with ‘Cry (Just A Little)’, ‘Rattle’, and later after Paul’s passing with ‘Knock You Out’. That hit the no.1 spot in the US Billboard Dance Chart with over 20million streams, and catapulted Bingo Players further into the mainstream.

Today Bingo Players sound as fresh as ever. His 2020 rework of ‘Devotion’ became a hit for the second time around on Musical Freedom some 11 years after its initial release on Spinnin’ Records. And with the recent success of ‘Forever Love’ with Disco Fries, which peaked at #4 on the US Billboard Dance Chart, as well as the Bingo Players and Oomloud collab ‘Brighter Days’, he couldn’t be more on top form.

The relationship between Bingo Players and Oomloud started way back in college when Maarten first met Rutger Bäumer, one half of Oomloud, who introduced Maarten to Paul Bäumer, later known as the duo Bingo Players. Paul and Maarten started making music together once they both realised they shared the same passion for synths and early music production software. Rutger Bäumer went on to become label manager for Hysteria Records and connected with his production partner Rutger Van Gelder through a series of label demo submissions. The two Rutgers, combined their efforts as producers and songwriters forming Oomloud who made their debut in collaboration with Bingo Players on the track 'Tic Toc' where their contagious, bouncy club sound was first showcased.

After receiving support from some of the biggest DJs on the planet in the likes of Tiësto, Martin Garrix, AVICII and David Guetta, Oomloud’s career rocketed onto such leading labels as Musical Freedom, Heldeep and on Spinnin’ where they clocked over 2 million global streams on singles ‘Platinum’ and ‘XTC’.

‘Touch & Go’ is another solid release from Perfect Havoc. Its roster also includes the double platinum selling Swedish producer Tobtok, Mahalo, Karen Harding, Kokiri, Simon Field and Parx. French Fries and Margarita – Crimes Against Nature (Video)

Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“A smooth velvety production, the song is catchy & current, both sonically & lyrically. The latter being a statement that we all have the right to be ourselves. The rich vocals are performed with an absorbing flamboyance & effortless ease. We think this has hit written all over it.”

-Nagamag.com

Lyrically, the song manifests the most essential right for any human being: the right to be themselves. Melodically, the debut single absorbed UFO-influenced electronic elements which are authentic to FFM and unique pop-oriented sound.

JODOQ – Hunch (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“We found a promising work from a new young artist. "Hunch" is not the typical music single, but moves some steps away. By binding Trip-Hop with Classical waves of sound, occurs a mix with dynamic and vibrating progression... surely remarkable and worthy.”

-Nagamag.com

„Hunch“ is about the pain and heartache that comes from desperately craving for someones love and affection, who just can’t quite return these feelings. Attached, unable to get closer or to let go, trapped by your own emotions.

Deep synth-bass, drunk drumbeats and a beautiful string arrangement combined with creative sounddesign and background choirs gently hug JODOQ's voice in a complex but still catchy, dark and dreamy popsong.

Zurich's JODOQ kicks off his career with a blast. The experts at M4music, which took place last week, are so convinced by his song „Hunch“ that they voted the track the most promising Swiss pop song of the year.

Mikael Oterhals – Ludwig (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Only the piano can get so close to the soul. Mikael Oterhals shares notes coming from the depths of his creation. We could say that "Ludwig" is somehow balancing between imagination and reality, melancholy and hope.”

-Nagamag.com

”Ludwig” is a neoclassical piano song with a modern and slight atmospheric sound. There is mostly one single musical theme building this piece, but the harmonic changes throughout the track keeps it interesting for the listener who gets to experience a musical story.
