“Not in the right mood? Hit play on the new single of Ovie , -One More Time- through Universal Music Ireland, and be sure will fix your mood as the right medicine.
A sound pill that not hurts to take it one more time, or more times. Beautiful beats and soulful vocals erupting to a sweet upbeat vibe! ”

-Nagamag.com

Following the success of his first single ‘Dublin Girl’, Ovie (oh-vee-ay) returns with his new single ‘One More Time’, an addicting Pop, RnB and Afrobeat record written about not knowing what you have until its gone.

While it has been almost 12 months since the release of Dublin Girl, and certainly a different year for most, Ovie has been busy creating and directing while also reflecting on the release of his debut single “It was really positive. Even now people are still messaging me about that [Dublin Girl] song. I was very happy. If I can't control the outcome, I just focus on making the track as good as it can be, the video as good as it can be. I realise that there's an element of hard work and an element of luck. You can't control the luck, only the hard work so I just do that bit to the best of my ability and hope it pays off”.

A producer, video director, and writer that centres powerful and emotive song writing at the forefront of all of his music, ‘One More Time’ was written alongside Jay Pizzle, and captures the idea that while someone might seem to have it all, they are not necessarily happy.

Talking about the new single, Ovie explains “The first two lines of the song are ‘I wish I knew then what I know now, I didn't see clear but see now’. Lyrically I tried to be very honest. I think many people can relate to the feelings I'm describing in the song. I told the story of a guy who seemingly has everything but is unhappy because he lost what really mattered in the process of getting everything he thought mattered”

The sensational video for One More Time, premieres TBC, and is directed by Ovie.

“Production wise I wanted to create a Juxtaposition between the lyrics on paper and the vibe of the song. It's really a sad song but if you were to listen passively, I think you'd probably miss that. That's what I wanted, an honest sad song that you could dance to.

My scenes were full of muted colours, sadness, rain, lightning and rigidity and the scenes of the person I'm missing are happy, colourful, dynamic and she's dancing etc. She's what is missing, and I wanted to make that really really clear. I hope that came across…”

So if 2020 has been a different year for Ovie, it’s also been one that might well prove to be crucial in his development as an artist. It has been a year to allow him figure out who he is as an artist, to allow him to discover that feeling about music that he has never felt before, something that he is now ready to share with the world.

“Your next top pop hit is here with -In My Zone- by Bellsavvy, released on GRS Music / Global Rockstar imprints. A top production and an explosive vocal performance which call you to stand up and groove, we know you may are not able to enjoy it full in your favorite club now due of the covid restrictions, but nothing stops you to do it in same way in your home, dance like nobody is watching! ”

-Nagamag.com

“In My Zone” oozes Latin fire and energy. With sassy, fun vocals the song is infused with uplifting, catchy spanish influence and fire, dance-worthy production by the multi-platinum producer Sky Adams (Doja Cat, HRVY, Kylie Minogue, Sigala). The track is lively, and light-hearted, but the vibes of the track speak of body confidence and finding your inner power; her honesty shows people every little sentiment of who she is.

Kevin McKay Reunites With Rozie Gyems On Stylish New Sade Rework

The Glasgow Underground founder and house mainstay brings more of his modern touch to this deeply emotive gem

Upfront DJ support from: Wankelmut, John Morales, Claptone, Tom & Collins, Moreno Pezzolato, Joe T. Vanelli, Midnight City, Marco Anzalone, Ordonez, Paco Osuna, DJ Dove, Robert Owens, Richie Hawtin, Larry Tee, Lexlay, Vanilla Ace, Steve Lawler, Simone Vitullo, Weikum, Severino, Chris Udoh, Mauro Venti

Glasgow Underground founder Kevin McKay links with vocalist Rozie Gyems to serve up another dancefloor gem; a lush house version of Sade’s essential 90s hit ‘Nothing Can Come Between Us’ out on 27th November. This lands as McKay sits at #3 in Beatport’s overall chart with ‘Work It’ and his label is awarded Beatport’s label of the month for December. It also follows his previous edit of Sade’s ‘Pearls’ (GU’s 500th release) as he continues to artfully revamp older tracks to make them accessible for modern club settings. The deep groove and cool contemporary edge of this sound has seen upfront DJ support on the latest single from respected names like Wankelmut, John Morales, Claptone, Robert Owens amongst many others.

McKay is still enjoying the success of his artist-focused, full-length DJ mix album ‘Summer Of Love’ which landed back in September. The 15-track collection featured tracks conceived, produced or remixed (or remixes commissioned) by McKay and was a fine reflection of what to expect from one of his in-demand DJ sets. Singles and remixes from the album including ‘Freak Like Me’, the Qubiko remix of ‘Save Me’ and ‘Gimme Gimme’ all hit the top 20 on Beatport and picked up millions of streams. Now with ‘Work It’ also riding high it rounds off a standout year for the much-loved producer.

From recording with Omid 16B as Sixteen Souls, to laying down essential DJ sets, to co-producing Mylo’s seminal album, ‘Destroy Rock & Roll’, McKay has a storied career and still, years later, keeps ahead of the game as this new single proves once more.

Says Kevin of his latest creation, “In the 90s and 00s there were a bunch of bootlegs of Sade’s most famous songs. One of the ones I loved was a house edit of ‘Nothing Can Come Between Us’ that chopped up the original over a steady beat. I recently dug out all my old vinyl, hoping I could play them again but, sadly, the sound of them just didn’t seem to work for now. That got me thinking about making my own version so I asked the team behind our amazing ‘Paradise’ rework to record two of my favourite Sade songs so I could reproduce them. After ‘Pearls’ sung by the brilliant Rozie Gyems featured on my album ‘Summer of Love’, this one, again with Rozie on vocals, reworks ‘Nothing Can Come Between Us’ in a deep house kalimba groove.”

Remaining sympathetic to the original while also layering in plenty of imaginative new sounds, the gorgeous ‘Nothing Can Come Between Us’ feat. Rozie Gyems is a brilliantly soulful deep house tune. The rich vocal hits an emotive sweet spot, the kalimba is bubbly and colourful yet warm, and the heartfelt drums drive things along at an inviting pace. This is the sort of life-affirming house tune we all need in our lives right now and is another timeless gem from this long-time house pioneer.

Once again, Kevin McKay brings his vast knowledge and love of house music to a fresh and tasteful rework of a much-loved classic.

Paul Cousins – An Abstract Place (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Receiving an ocean of music variety, and in beatless ambient styles like what Paul Cousins offers here sometimes is hard to define what worked more or less to catch your attention. Usually is the blend of harmonies, the story line which blended in a brilliant way together with a secret recipe from the artist. Same as many can follow the guidelines of a cooking recipe, yet few will reach the right taste. Here we feel that mesmerizing taste. A story line which through way and at end, left us with clean thoughts, total relaxed and a warm feeling about life. This is what a good ambient story can manage! ”

-Nagamag.com

An Abstract Place’ is inspired by the spaces we’re taken to during immersive listening. The track was produced with analog synthesizers, half speed 1/4″ tape effects and digital samples. It’s designed for reflective moments, walking alone or soundtracking a journey.

The accompanying video by director Edward Harber is an atmospheric study of the eroding coastline at Happisburgh, Norfolk. The historic area has undergone a process of coastal erosion in recent years, leaving a familiar place hard to recognise for residents. As more homes surrender to the sea, the sense of abandonment through elemental change weighs upon the landscape. The film takes this displacement further, by contorting the environment into something wholly unfamiliar. Sand flats merge with water intertwined in rock and tide motions are reversed. As the track unfolds the fragility of the landscape becomes fluid, echoing the ocean’s relentless pull upon the cliffs.

The track’s artwork is a collaboration with digital artist Signalstarr, and inspired by Russian abstract minimalist Kazimir Malevich.

Canadian duo Flõstate release a visual accompaniment to their spell-binding debut single “Time”. The brainchild of Avery Florence and MKSTN, Flõstate’s fantasy RnB sound brings something breathtaking to the table.

When we were in the stages of looking to visually represent our music with our first release, Magdalene Kan (Creative Director) introduced us to the dynamic duo, Elliot Muscat (Director, Producer) and Tristan C-M (DOP).

We are constantly drawn to the imperfections and qualities of film, and wanted a heightened feeling to be the centre of the video’s attention – trying to capture a feeling of only ever almost touching, fragments of moments are interwoven throughout the song’s continuous momentum.

This video captures the sensual desire of losing oneself in a timeless state. The continuous flow of nature’s waves, life and death, light and darkness.

“Tristan and I worked closely with the artists to visually express their passion and authenticity. Part of the creative execution involved using a mix of film mediums and techniques that mirror the magical qualities of the music. Working with Flostate is always nothing short of awesomeness and downright fun.” – Elliott Muscat (Director, Producer)

Rebecca Jean Rossi – Waltz for New York (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Rebecca Jean Rossi soundtracks into her Waltz for New York and through a gently performed neoclassical style, the most beautiful piano notes, of light, positive emotions. ”

-Nagamag.com

Watching New York lose so much of what has made it vibrant during this pandemic has been extraordinarily difficult: the people, the places, the bustling city life that seemingly vanished overnight. While I was writing this piece, I was living alone during the lockdown and really missing my family and my partner. I was mulling over what type of music sounded like New York City, and one night I came up with this Waltz. I hope you enjoy it and that you are all doing ok during this extremely difficult time. -Rebecca

Rebecca Jean Rossi (a.k.a Krystalmath) is an NYC based music producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer.

While studying classical piano performance at the Eastman School of Music, she discovered her passion for electronic music and composition and began focusing on music production.

Between 2007-2012 she worked on crafting her individual sound as a producer. During this time she wrote and sang for an indie rock band that toured the US and most of Europe, and also produced a single in collaboration with the late but great Prodigy of Mobb Deep.

Finally in 2015, she wrote, produced, and released her first album under the name Krystalmath- with her first single “Same Mistake” hitting Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and then the Global Viral 50, peaking in 15th place and receiving over 200,000 plays within a couple of weeks.

The entire Krystalmath catalog was picked up in 2016 to be featured on In-Store playlists by stores like Forever 21, Gap, etc. by PlayNetwork, Inc.

Always interested in a wide variety of musical genres, she is currently collaborating on a pop EP with Italian producer Jason Rooney in Milan, Italy, and will also be releasing an EP of instrumental piano compositions in 2020.
