Dan Pallotta has lived many lives. The folk artist was born on the first day of John F. Kennedy’s presidency and went on to attend Harvard University. Pallotta ran for office and won at a young age, with his sights set on the American presidency. During the ‘80s, he began to realize he was gay, at a time when there were no out political leaders, and subsequently turned to pursue his dream of music.

Pallotta went off to Los Angeles, where he pursued a career as a singer-songwriter but was ultimately told by Clive Davis that his style of music wouldn’t lead to a breakthrough as an artist.

Pallotta’s next left turn led him to develop a highly successful career in philanthropy, creating the AIDSRides, Breast Cancer 3-Day walks, and Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention walks which raised a record breaking nearly USD600 milion in nine years.

At 61 years old, the married father of three has returned to music with an album of rich folk and Americana storytelling. His first single is “John F. Kennedy,” an inquisitive reflection on the feelings of both grief and liberation which come with leaving behind old narratives which no longer serve you.

Pallotta sees this song as a reflection on letting go of the part of himself that needed the adoration of becoming president, which was given new dimension through a dream he had where he witnessed JFK’s last breaths.

“What if that dream was trying to say that something old was going away, something that was dear to me, that it was gone and I was free.”

Growing up in the midwest, Kevin Seal and Chris McGrew were raised to be hard workers with an unwavering collaborative spirit. Their upbringings were also significantly influenced by the core of soul music that spread across their home communities in Ohio and Illinois, respectively. These staple cultural characteristics have followed them both to the coast of California, where they have been working alongside many musical creatives, helping bring their dreams and projects to fruition. The pandemic threw a wrench in much of these works in progress, but perhaps this was to their benefit. It provided an open canvas for Seal and McGrew to pursue their own dreams in the music industry, forming Seal Party: a dynamic duo where their soul music talents can shine when given the opportunity to create for themselves. Lotus is a five-piece instrumental band that has evolved and grown over 20 plus years. They were early adopters of fusing electronic beats and sounds from dance music with jam music, but also drew on psych-rock, post-rock, disco, funk and jazz. Speaking on the track, Trevis said: “’Company For Now’ is about a girl that approached me and asked if I wanted to be her “company for now”. Her confidence and approach blew my mind, and I had to write a song about her. Obviously, in the song I made it sound like it was me and I was a G, but she approached me like that. She knew what she wanted and knew she was gonna get it. That’s why I said, “You bad as fuck and you know it.”

“’Company For Now’ is my new favourite record that’ll always be playing if you’re driving around in the car with me. We made it earlier this year and it’s at the top of my playlist,” he added.

Born and bred in Norway, Trevis found a new home in the sunny wanderlust we know as California. Stateside, Trevis found his way to the studios of super-producer Harmony Samuels and the BOE Camp. Responsible for hits with Mary J. Blige, Ariana Grande, Chip, Ciara, Chris Brown and many more — Trevis would sit at the back of Harmony’s studio sessions, learning all he could from top-tier musicians, engineers and producers. Trevis would often dissect the formula of how to bring the best out of creative spurs of inspiration.
