Karen-Lee Batten – Drinkin’ Song (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Your "Drinkin' Song" is now available by the fantastic Karen-Lee Batten. Striking Country sound with exuberant voice in the lyrics, are fair enough to feel the rhythm in your vains. Whether you're alone or not, this is an excellent company for the next three minutes!”

-Nagamag.com

Award-winning Canadian country recording artist Karen Lee Batten is thrilled to release her sassy new party single, “Drinkin’ Song”. New on all digital platforms, the track will go to Canadian country radio on April 26th.

Co-written by Batten with Jeff Johnson (Madeline Merlo), and Mitch Merrett (Tyler Joe Miller) – and co-produced by Merrett (Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion) and Johnson (Meghan Patrick) – “Drinkin’ Song” is an intoxicating blend of traditional country sass topped off with the musical equivalent of a lightning shot of moonshine.

Inspired by the ups and downs of a past relationship, “Drinkin’ Song” is Batten’s sing-along anthem for when life’s curveballs call for a loud bar, a stiff drink, and a good laugh.

Speaking about the single, Batten says, “We wrote ‘Drinkin’ Song’ as a party tune to remind us that lettin’ loose is a must in order to take us away from what’s not working. We don’t always need a sad song to get us through the rough times. In country music, we like to think that the answer for everything is in a honkytonk bar – where you can raise your glass, sing along, and have a wicked time with your crew.”

For Batten – a former “Canadian Idol” finalist and 7-time BC Country Music Association Award Winner for Female Artist of the Year – “Drinkin’ Song” follows last year’s well-received single release, “Too Strong”, and comes after winning the 2020 BCCMA Award for Fans’ Choice. “Drinkin’ Song” is the second single from her planned EP, which will be released next fall.

The process of co-writing the majority of the songs on the EP has been a creatively rewarding experience of inspiration and reflection for Batten – with “Drinkin’ Song” being the latest example.

She says, “While ‘Drinkin’ Song’ comes from a challenging time, the process of bringing it to life made me realize and celebrate just how far I’ve come. I hope people can listen to it and be grateful for turning their own hard times into good times.”

Karen Lee Batten will be supporting “Drinkin’ Song” with an official music video in advance of its April 26th release to Canadian country radio.

“Drinkin’ Song” is available across all digital platforms now.

ELUNIA – Soak (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“New single "Soak" is out now from ELUNIA. Personal electronic style and crystal clear singing reveal something more than a typical song. Noticeable sweet transitions between melodies and lyrics, interesting pauses and courage-giving feelings are some highlights of this work.”

-Nagamag.com

"Soak" is the newest offering from the New Hampshire hailing artist ELUNIA, whose release follows an impressive debut dropped back in January of this year. Loaded with ethereal textures and nostalgic synth sounds, "Soak" is a triumphant alt-pop single that is both commercial and cinematic in its production. The single was produced by ELUNIA and refined by multi-million streamed producer JMAC (Luz, Matilda Mann, Haux, Rosie Carney).

Discussing the single ELUNIA explains:

“Soak came about in the morning after a concert, just as the euphoria was fading. I had felt so alone for so long while struggling with anxiety and isolation caused by bullying and exclusion over the years, and I suddenly felt like someone had injected life into me. I had discovered this secret, special world of music that only I could know, only I could experience where I felt like I actually existed and mattered. It was a world that gave me highs without chemicals, while others felt like they needed substances and destructive habits to achieve that same feeling. I would desperately hold onto those moments and make them last as long as possible, and though that helped me cope, there was a part of me that knew I was idealizing the people I encountered and the experiences I had. I wrote Soak as a way to preserve those moments trying to hold onto positive memories before they slipped away and reality flooded back in.”

Her debut single "Borderlines" has received notable acclaim from the blog community and has picked up over 17,000 streams on Spotify since its release.

When reality became too much, ELUNIA created an alternative existence. A singer-songwriter-producer executing all of her own visuals, the New Hampshire-based recording artist captures the endless meaning of human interaction as an immersive experience. Each track delves beneath the surface, with striking electronic textures, soaring melodies, and observant, probing lyrics.

Although trained in music from an early age, it was the discovery of transforming feelings into creative entities that inspired the emerging songsmith to chart a different path. The multi-instrumentalist began writing and producing incessantly, hiding away in school practice rooms as a coping mechanism for the isolation she faced in the world around her. Fragments of thought, often noted in the midst of heart-wrenching moments, evolved into ethereal, liquid atmospheres. The result is a flood of wild self-expression channeled through thoughtfully-molded soundscapes.

In 2018, a chance conversation with multi-million streamed producer JMAC led to the materialization of her debut single “Borderlines”, a swirling, thumping examination of the toxic patterns associated with an artificial, forced sense of identity. Relatable phrases such as “I’m alive but I don’t fit into reality” tackle her struggle with mental health in an extroverted society and the mind-numbing effect of being in a creatively stifling environment. The rejection of social norms gave rise to music that defies labels.

Gustav Hoyer, Peter Pejtsik, The Budapest Film Orchestra – Terra, the Bringer of Life (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , , |

“-Terra, the Bringer of Life- is an excellent opportunity to plunge into the world of classical music in its true demonstration. The vast and varied compositional heritage of the XVIII century, where you can listen the orchestral concert performed by the virtuosos -Gustav Hoyer-, -Peter Pejtsik- and -The Budapest Film Orchestra-.”

“-Terra, the Bringer of Life- это отличная возможность окунуться в мир классической музыки в её истинном проявлении. Огромное и разнообразное композиторское наследие XVIII века, в котором вы сможете услышать виртуозный оркестровый концерт в исполнении -Gustav Hoyer-, -Peter Pejtsik- и -The Budapest Film Orchestra-.”

-Nagamag.com

Standing at 7 minutes and 40 seconds, "Terra, The Bringer of Life" implements fervent violins and chimes to invoke the feeling of natural beauty on earth and the cycle of life, and mimic the musical elements of mother nature such as; flowing water, sprouting seeds, and flying birds. We are then given a quick glimpse of earth from the heavens with a beautiful melodic harp and flute section about one minute into the piece, which complements the overarching tone seamlessly.

The piece, though classical, is modern and relevant, which is not surprising given Gustav Hoyer's reputation as a prolific composer who is dedicated to giving "people a chance to experience this great art form in untraditional ways". He does this in multiple ways, and has recently been focusing on creating a virtual reality software that would allow a listener to not only watch a visualizer, but experience and immerse themselves into the music like never before. Though the VR platform isn't ready yet, you can still immerse yourself in the musical richness that is classical music through the new episodes of Gustav's podcast "Anachromism", were he focuses on slowing down and actively listening to music to get the best experience possible.

Lo Marie – The Gap (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Looking for some serious Jazz music? Then you may be lucky with "Lo Marie". Discover the spontaneous tone changes in her silvery voice, followed by acoustic guitar harmonic notes. Excellent overall result with the signature of a true artist.”

-Nagamag.com

“The Gap” is the latest single from Lo Marie that combines jazz and funk with neo-soul. It is the perfect girl anthem for anyone who has been conflicted about what to do when it comes to a guy who doesn’t want the same things as them. Lo Marie radiates girl boss energy and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for this year.

When she was younger, Lo Marie wanted to be an opera singer, but when she saw the amount of self expression jazz music could let her do, she realized that she wanted to go down that route with artists like violinist Melanie Alvey and bassist and mix engineer Conrad St. Clair, both of which she has worked with during her career. Lo Marie is gifted when it comes to writing lyrics, having intense drive, and fulfilling what she desires to with her music. Her abilities as an artist inspire me greatly to fight for what I want as a female artist in the music industry.

The Sweet Kill – Forbidden (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“In the advanced single -Letters to a Vampire- focusing on experimental mainstream rock music, you'll find -Forbidden-. Track full of harmony and rhythmic artistic images, also a bright representative of the experimental avant-garde.”

“Расширенный сингл -Letters to a Vampire- это экспериментальный мейнстрим в рок-музыке. Трек -Forbidden- насыщен гармонией и ритмическими художественными образами. Яркий представитель экспериментального авангарда.”

-Nagamag.com

http://www.instagram.com/TheSweetKill

The 3 song EP “Letters To A Vampire” starts with the song “Forbidden” co-written by NYC based chanteuse Danielle Parente, Flash Bastard member Donal Finn and The Sweet Kill's frontman Pete Mills. We all tapped into an otherworldly energy but with only a few days to finish we did the best we could in a short time. A lot of sync houses liked the song but it never landed anywhere. Thus it was put on the back burner until the pandemic hit. In the early stages of lockdown I experienced a wide range of emotions. I saw my mortality and reflected back to turbulent times, which lead to me getting sober. Through this perspective I felt compelled to revisit and rework “Forbidden”. I made it faster, changed the arrangement, added a new chorus and ultimately gutted the production. The thematic narration involves a lustful couple caroming around in the darkness engaging the powerful elements of love. “…Maybe we were wrong to do it, or just sick for what we need, maybe we were outcasts all along, but every night the sun sets slowly, my darkened heart controls me, sucked into the black hole of your arms …Forbidden lust”

http://www.facebook.com/TheSweetKill

The Sweet Kill is a one-man dark pop synth project swelling with emotion. The diviner of this millenarian angst is lead-singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Pete Mills; who portrays toxic love, desperation and redemption from the throes of addiction. After the suicide of his band mate, and personal battles with addiction, Pete speaks of liberation from inner demons.

The Sweet Kill delivers an atmospheric quietus and infectious hooks similar to Awolnation and MGMT, matched with the bulletproof production of The Cure and Nine Inch Nails. The latest releases feature the drumming of Darren King (Mutemath), mixer Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (Marilyn Manson) and co-producer Voli (Bebe Rexha).

Prior to the conception of The Sweet Kill, Mills had an extensive career in the music industry, signing with Nikki Sixx's label with his former band Flash Bastard and getting kicked off the North American Motley Crue tour. Ulitimately moving to Los Angeles, Pete diverged into a producing career, beginning with a co-production credit for SoulKid1's smash hit song "We Got More Bounce In California" with Michael Patterson (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).

This single's notoriety captured the attention of local labels which transitioned Pete into a successful producing career working with a myriad of artists including Sheryl Crow, Moving Units, Teddy Riley to name a few. The latest releases of The Sweet Kill marks Pete's meteoric re-entry back into the spotlight of performing again.
