Manuel Peguero – Nadia’s Theme | Neoclassical music review

Amakuno (Aniss Belkadi) is a young French-Algerian composer/director based in Paris. He studied cinema at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and film scoring at the New-York University (NYU Film Scoring Workshop 2019). His mentors include Mark Snow, Michael A. Levine, Mark Suozzo and Béatrice Thiriet among many others. His work has been compared to Béla Bartók and Igor Stravinsky by L.A. based composer Michael A. Levine (Cold Case, Pirates of the Carribean…) and has been defined as “brilliant” and “extremely gifted” by César-nominated French composer Béatrice Thiriet. In July 2020 he became the youngest graduate from the prestigious École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot (where he is a recipient of a grant from the Cercle des Mécènes and of the Académie des Beaux-Arts) in Film Composition at only 19.

Recipient of numerous international film music awards, he became in 2020 the youngest PAMA.s nominee in the Composer of the Year category against BAFTA-nominated composers Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Final Fantasy, Ghost In The Shell, Halo 5)….

Aniss’ music draws inspirations from Stravinsky and Vivaldi to Max Richter and Ryuichi Sakamoto. His musical style could be defined as a subtle sense of melancholia and clarity.
