Mario Verandi – Small Wings Behind (Video)

Categories: Features, Neoclassical, Neoclassical Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Mario Verandi composed a truly rich in harmonies story. Notes gently shimmer in the air, as if the raindrops play on the railing of a balcony. Yet somewhere far away, where clouds on sky are travelling quick you listen a lighting. ”

“Mario Verandi создал поистине пространственную музыку. Ноты мягко переливаются в воздухе, будто капли дождя играют на перилах веранды. И где то вдали, там где плывут по небу тучи слышится легкая тревога.”

This track features delicate impressionistic piano melodies that flow over distinct electronic/ambient textures.

Matthew Avery Interview on Nagamag

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Matthew Avery:
Classical, minimalism, ambient, melancholy.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Matthew Avery:
I used to play guitar in several punk/hardcore bands from age 15-23 and then slowly began composing on piano over the next years. I find the sounds of the piano soothing and more conducive towards composing songs that inspire strong emotions. Guitar is still an amazing instrument that I enjoy playing, but the piano has taken over as my instrument of choice over the past few years.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Matthew Avery:
My first real love of music came when I heard AFI's album "Sing the Sorrow". The guitar tones, song structures, lyrics, melodies and production quality were all so perfect in capturing a sort of romantic feeling of sadness. I would say my biggest inspiration for composing instrumental music came later from listening to movie soundtracks done by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis as well as Clint Mansell. They were able to inspire so much emotion with minimalistic piano-based songs.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Matthew Avery:
Caravels "Hanging Off"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Matthew Avery:
Nil Ciuró "Inner"

“-Martèn LeGrand- with his new solo piano -Fields Of Fallen Leaves- on PM Recordings invites us into a romantic confession with a hidden melancholic touch giving a wonderful sense of freedom like when you walk on through the falen leaves. ”

-Nagamag.com

Martèn LeGrand is the stage name of Dutch musician and pianist Maarten de Groot, born January 4, 1963.

After Martèn completed his degree at the Rotterdam Conservatory as a Hammond organist and music performance major in 1983, he began his career as a record producer for well-known international artists and bands such as Samantha Fox and Susan Snyder. Best known for her role in the soap opera As The World Turns, Martèn produced Snyder’s solo singles, also used in the popular serial drama as background music. By the same token, Martèn produced the Socaboy's hit song Follow The Leader, which became a number-one single in the Netherlands, topped the charts in the United States, South America and other European countries, and continues to be well played around the world today. Around this same period, Martèn also worked as a demonstrator and pioneer in the field of synthesizers at Roland Japan, based in Belgium.

In the decade to follow Martèn LeGrand composed and produced music for television and the film industry. He worked, among others, for the Dutch Broadcast Foundation (NOS) and the Dutch Evangelical Broadcasting association (EO), for whom he produced and composed a large range of music, including intros and performances for live television events. Martèn also played piano in a variety of bands, including East Coast, Time and Beethoven, and collaborated on various theatrical productions with singers Liesbeth List and Sandra van Megen – the last of which went on to accompany him at the Alliance Concours Française where they were awarded first place.

Around the turn of the century Martèn founded his own music studio, where he continues to work to this day. Free to determine his own schedule, Martèn’s newfound self-employment allowed him to finally integrate his other life passion: world travel. Filled with new insights and inspiration from his journeys abroad, Martèn reinvented himself as “the traveling pianist” and has since gone on to compose a wide variety of new work.

Saskatchewan, his recent solo debut album, is the first in a range of several released and upcoming piano albums. Inspired by his surroundings, Martèn named his debut album after the Canadian region of Saskatchewan, where he found himself enchanted by, among others, a small-town cathedral and the incredible natural world. A number of the tracks on his new album, songs such as Nipawin, Pinehouse and Beauval, are named after places where Martèn played while traveling. Martèn LeGrand strives to take his listeners on a journey, transporting them to beautiful and serene locations by way of his melodic compositions. Martèn LeGrand’s second piano album is released last year and is called Those Moments In Life. Currently, he’s releasing new piano pieces of his upcoming EP ‘The Fields’. With his piece Whitehaven, he’s made his music video debut recently.

Frank Iva – Wreckage (Video)

Categories: Features, Neoclassical, Neoclassical Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“Wreckage by Frank Iva is a deep emotive solo piano which explores the shades of nostalgy through a well gently performance.”

-Nagamag.com

FRANK IVA is a Ugandan-born American music producer based in San Diego, CA. His work is an exciting fusion of electronic and live music with hints of jazz, hiphop, classical and gospel influence.

Even though his dream was to be a concert pianist, he first attended college as a Statistics major at the prestigious Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Through college and beyond, Frank coached worship teams, taught piano, and worked as a record engineer. In 2006, he moved from Kampala to the U.S. to pursue his dreams as a producer and artist.

As a black international student pursuing a degree in Music from Judson University, Frank’s worldview was soon greatly impacted through working as Worship Arts Director for a predominantly white evangelical church in the suburbs of Chicago. He faced both overt and subtle racism in America, that left him hurt and confused about his purpose.

A series of life-altering events took Frank through a time of no music, no church; of love, loss, and redemption; and across the country to San Diego, CA where he now resides. His work as Music Director at The Rock Church, as well as his MBA in Project Management has propelled his path back to his dreams.

Today, you can find Frank Iva merging his love of Chicago’s improv Jazz with that relaxed California electro vibe, with his first single ‘Conversations’, released May 2019. His anticipated uptempo followup, ‘Bassline’, was released December 2019. He will be releasing his first EP in early 2020. You can also view video of live production and performance in Frank’s ‘Iva On The Track” series on YouTube.
