Today, Dylan Chenfeld and his downtown indie power-outfit, Rebounder, have once again flexed an indisputable flair for timely cover selection.

In the thick of a sneering indie sleaze revival, Chenfeld and Co. have come correct as true connoisseurs of the era, forgoing tired renditions of “Maps” in exchange for Peter Bjorn & John’s forgot-how-well-you-knew-it anthem, “Young Folks.”

The band debuted it last Summer at a buzzy McKibbin roof rager reminiscent of the blog-rock runoff that once made the neighborhood famous. But after a year of pounding it out to sleaze-revivalists nationwide, the band is putting the moment to bed with a self-recorded release of the song mixed by Danny Parra (The Neighborhood).

From the opening snare fill, as unmistakable as Like a Rolling Stone’s to the Urban-shoplifter set, Cobey Arner (pedigreed photographer moonlighting as the best drummer you know) sends the era out to sea in salutary Viking tribute. After all, what better tune to soundtrack the credits sequence than the one that scored the opening moments of ‘Gossip Girl?’

It’s been a marathon year for Rebounder, including this Spring and Summer’s full back-to-back US tours with Joy Again and Last Dinosaurs, but their tireless pace has seen Spotify listenership explode to over 450k per month.
